Expectant parents can now receive bigger maternity benefits from PhilHealth starting today, April 30, as the state health insurer expands its coverage for childbirth, prenatal care, and postpartum services.

PhilHealth coverage for normal spontaneous deliveries rises from P9,750 to P29,000, while coverage for caesarean sections increases from P37,000 to P58,000 to P62,000.

Prenatal care coverage has also been expanded from four to eight checkups, now including vaccines and laboratory tests. Mothers will also be entitled to three postpartum hospital visits after giving birth.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said the expanded benefits are meant to help mothers access safer maternity care.

Ito ang nais natin baguhin,” he said in a video statement.
