Slain Pregnant Woman With Baby Cut From Her Womb Is Allegedly a Victim of a Mom She Met OnlineThe suspects are a mother-daughter tandem whom she met through a Facebook group for momsby Lei Dimarucut-Sison .
These days, you can never be too careful about whom to trust because it could sometimes cost you your money, your dignity — or worse, your life.
Americans have been following the story of 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, a mom who was reported missing on April 23, 2019. On May 16, her body was found in a garbage can at a property southwest side of Chicago. She was nine months pregnant, and the baby was cut out of her womb, according to reports.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
The suspects, a 46-year-old woman named Clarisa Figueroa, and her daughter Desiree, 24, have been charged with first-degree murder for reportedly strangling Marlen to death, according to The Washington Post.

Cecilia Garcia, a relative of the victim, said Marlen may have been lured into the home of the suspects after she was promised a double stroller and clothes for her unborn baby. Marlen supposedly met the suspects through a Facebook group for young mothers.
“She was giving clothes away, supposedly under the pretense that her daughters had been given clothes, and they had all these extra boy clothes. That’s the false pretenses that we believe led [Marlen] to that house,” said Garcia.
The 19-year-old, who originates from Mexico, announced on her Facebook page in December that her second baby was due on May 9, 2019.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
In March this year, Marlen replied to a post on the aforementioned Facebook group for moms that asked who among them were due in May. She answered that her due date was approaching.
"Due to the fact that I’m in school and can’t work at the moment, I can’t afford to buy the rest of the things since I’m short on cash right now," she wrote.
A group member then replied to her post, saying "If you want to wait a week, my girl has all brand new boy clothes her son never wore," and gave her the address where to pick them up.
Based on screenshots included in a news report by CBS Chicago, the said group member who left the comment was Clarisa. Marlen's body was later discovered at a property just blocks away from the given address.

Marlen was reported missing by her family after she failed to pick up her 3-year-old toddler from daycare. On the same day, a call was made to 911 by Clarisa Figueroa, who reported that a baby who was born 10 minutes ago to a 46-year-old woman "isn't breathing. The baby is pale and blue. They are doing CPR." A team of paramedics was dispatched to the address to assist.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
The baby boy, whom DNA tests confirm is Marlen's, was brought to a hospital in Illinois and remains in critical condition.
It remains unclear what led the suspects to commit the heinous crime, but the younger Figueroa, Desiree, has reportedly admitted to the crime.
