We’ve always heard that knowledge is power. But in today’s digital age—where the internet and AI make information more accessible than ever—not everything we read is accurate or trustworthy. For parents juggling family life, household responsibilities, and their careers, sorting through overwhelming or misleading advice only adds to the challenge.

That’s why access to credible, expert-backed parenting information matters more than ever. As technology continues to shape how people discover and consume content, Summit Media is investing in tools that will help deliver trusted parenting advice more effectively, making it easier for families to find the information they need, when they need it.

PT Summit Advances Technology Solutions for the Media Industry

As part of Summit Media, one of the Philippines’ most established and trusted media companies, Smart Parenting is set to enhance the trusted parenting content it delivers through the launch of PT Summit.

PT Summit is a partnership between PlayTime Entertainment, a multi-vertical entertainment group transforming content, distribution, and audience engagement through technology, and Summit Media. It brings together the strengths of both organizations: PlayTime Entertainment’s expertise in building scalable technology solutions and Summit Media’s decades of experience in developing influential media brands, trusted content, and engaged audiences.

During the launch on August 5, PT Summit CEO Crisanto Roy Alcid explained that the company was created to provide technology that supports—not replaces—publishers and editorial teams.

"PT Summit is actually the synergy or collaboration between these two companies. So we created PT Summit as a company joint venture... which will provide technology services into the media landscape."

Led by PlayTime Entertainment’s technology capabilities, PT Summit will develop tools that enable publishers like Summit Media to improve their digital products, gain more actionable audience insights, strengthen content creation and distribution, and unlock new opportunities for growth.

PT Summit will focus on three core areas: product and platform development, digital marketing solutions, and intelligent solutions for content creation and distribution.

Alcid emphasized that the goal is to empower journalists and editors—not interfere with editorial independence.

"Bringing technology into the media landscape... not really to mess with or control editorial content, but really to enhance as a tool, unshackle the editorial boards and the publishers from these day-to-day problems and make them focus on the creatives, what really is important in the industry."

Helping Publishers Better Serve Readers

Summit Media will serve as PT Summit’s first client and flagship implementation partner. Its portfolio of trusted lifestyle and digital media brands—including Preview, PEP.ph, SPOT.ph, SPIN.ph, Smart Parenting, Esquire Philippines, and Cosmopolitan Philippines—will be the first to adopt its technology.

“The initial rollout will allow PT Summit to deploy and refine its platform within an established media ecosystem, across brands with different audiences, content categories, and commercial needs,” Lisa Gokongwei, Chairman of Summit Media said. “For Summit Media, the partnership will strengthen its product architecture, audience intelligence, marketing performance, content workflows, and monetization capabilities.”

During the launch, Gokongwei further said: "This technology is pretty similar to the technology that we actually need in media to make media more efficient across the value chain, from creating content, to collecting and analyzing data, to delivering and distributing the content, as well as to find ways to monetize our audiences."

“The media industry and the way people discover and consume content continue to change,” said Crisanto Roy Alcid, CEO of PT Summit. “PT Summit was created to provide critical tech infrastructure that media companies need to adapt to these changes. We are empowering storytellers with world-class technology. By partnering with Summit Media first, we are providing the model with the best in the business.”

Technology That Supports Journalism

One question raised during the press conference was whether artificial intelligence would play a major role in PT Summit's platform—and whether it could affect human creativity.

Howard Go, CEO of Summit Media, clarified that while AI may help improve efficiency behind the scenes, it will not replace editors or journalists.

"AI can be used, I think, to help us look for errors in code, go through data faster, but we won't be using it for content."

He added: "Our editors continue to write objectively from their perspective. In terms of how journalism is done, our editors still have their freedom and independence. What we want to do is give them the tools to be able to do things better, more efficiently."

Go also shared that the partnership aims to build technology designed specifically for publishers instead of relying on platforms built primarily for social media.

"We're creating a platform that allows our editors to create content in a way that digital media can be read and appreciated in today's culture."

Following its rollout with Summit Media, PT Summit plans to make its platform available to independent publishers, media networks, and content businesses seeking to strengthen their digital capabilities without having to build complex systems from the ground up.

PT Summit aims to set a new standard for how media companies use technology to strengthen audience relationships, improve operational performance, and build more scalable digital businesses.
