One of the goals of technology is to make our lives easier. Now, with smartphones, filing your SSS Maternity Notification and reporting violations of breastfeeding promotion laws is at your fingertips.
SSS Mobile App
Through the Social Security System (SSS) Mobile App, pregnant female members who are overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), non-working spouses, are self-employed, and voluntary members can also file their SSS Maternity Notification via the app. Employed members would still need to course their SSS Maternity Notification through their company human resource department.
Other services that the SSS Mobile App offers are tracking your SSS monthly contributions, loan payments, Unified Multi-purpose Identification Card information, the status of benefit claims like sickness and maternity, employment history, Flexi-fund status, and their member details. Pensioners may also change their address and contact information through the app.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
The SSS Mobile App is now among the top most downloaded productivity and utility application in Google Play Store and The Apple Store. It landed on the third spot under the productivity category in Google Play Store with more than 1.52 million downloads, and ranks fourth with nearly 110,000 downloads from The App Store.
“Our members should take advantage of this application since it will save them time and effort in monitoring their status and contributions with the SSS. They do not have to go to our branch just to check if their employer has been remitting their contributions or whether their loan payments are already posted,” SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Aurora C. Ignacio said in a press release.
Soon, SSS members may also file their salary loan applications, update their contact information, do simplified web registration, and generate Payment Reference Number to pay for their monthly contributions through the app.CONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
Aside from the SSS Mobile app, members can also transact via SSS Self-Service Express Terminal (SSS-ExT), formerly called Self-Service Information Terminal, in 128 additional branches and service offices nationwide. As of end-March 2019, more than 21.5 million online inquiries were received, and more than 324,000 transactions have been made through that channel.
Members may also register and use their online account via My.SSS in the SSS Website, and make inquiries using the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) and Text-SSS.
MBF PH App
Individuals can now easily report violations of the milk code via a website which is a joint project of the Department of Health (DOH) and World Vision Development Foundation. The Mother-Baby Friendly Philippines (MBFP) website (mbfp.doh.gov.ph), smartphone app MBF Ph (available on The App Store and Google Play), and SMS text messaging system encourage a crowd-based monitoring system of the laws that promote exclusive breastfeeding.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
The Philippines has one of the strictest laws that aim to promote breastfeeding and ensure that nursing moms have everything they need to breastfeed their baby, but the number of exclusively-breastfed babies younger than 5 months are still dwindling. Companies and institutions that do not honor the laws, such as giving lactation breaks to working moms returning from their maternity leave, are part of the problem.
The website and the MBF PH app provide a chockful of information about the Philippine Milk Code of 1986 (Executive Order 51 ), Rooming-In and Breastfeeding Act of 1992 (Republic Act 7600), and Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009, (Republic Act 10028). It’s easy enough to understand with infographics, both in English or Filipino, so one can quickly do a check.
The MBF PH app also now has a Mother Journal section and the Growth Chart and Early Child Care and Development(ECCD) Checklist to help parents track and document the development of their child.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW

At the bottom of the page, you’ll need to fill details about yourself as the Reporter. Disclosing your name is optional, but MBFP needs your mobile number or email address so they can provide you updates about your report. Any information you share about yourself will be treated as confidential.
Using the app is just as simple. Just go to to the “Report Violation” tab, choose the type of violation, and then fill in the necessary details of your report.
