Matet announced her pregnancy by posting an ultrasound photo of her unborn baby on Instagram. She’s currently 24 weeks pregnant with another baby girl. The official distributor of VW cars in the country, Volkswagen Philippines, launched their campaign to support child safety on the road at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) recently. One of the pillars of the campaign is to promote the use of car seats together with standard safety measures such as airbags, ISOFIX child seat fixations, and active collision systems. VW also developed the VW Child Seat Genuine Accessories for babies (0 to 15 months), young children (8 months to 4 years), and older kids (3 to 8 years). (volkswagen.com.ph)

4. Birth control may alter a woman’s brain
New research pinpoints another potential risk of contraceptive pills: they may shrink portions of the brain and affect its function. Researchers infer that the synthetic hormones in contraceptive pills-— and possibly, the suppression of natural hormones that occurs when women use them —- are the cause of the brain alterations. They said they need more research to find out if the alterations are permanent. The study is published in the journal Human Brain Mapping. (huffingtonpost.com)
5. iPads contribute to the classroom learning experience
According to a new study, having kindergartners share iPads may be better for learning than equipping each child with his own device. The study involved 350 students from three different schools: the first had iPads for every student, the second had the students share, and the third had no iPads. Students who shared iPads scored about 30 points higher than the rest of the other students.
