  • 1. It’s a girl for Ryan and Juday

    It's confirmed: actress and cookbook author Judy Ann Santos is expecting a baby girl. She is currently five months along the family way. She and her husband, actor and TV host Ryan Agoncillo, who are already parents to daughter Yohan and son Lucho, announced the update on their respective Instagram accounts. They both posted a photo of them together, with Judy Ann’s baby bump clearly seen and captioned it, “LUNA.” Luna is short for Juana Luisa, the name they decided to call their third child. It was last June 10 when Ryan announced on the noontime show “Eat Bulaga” that they’re expecting their third bundle of joy. (pep.ph)

    2. Haylie Duff introduces daughter
    The "Real Girl's Kitchen" host recently released the very first official photo of her four-month-old daugher Ryan Ava with fiance Matt Rosenberg,  after some "teaser" photos posted by the new mom. She also posted a photo of three-year-old Luca, her sister Hilary Duff's son. She has relied on her sister for support when she became a mom. “Whether I just want to cry for a minute or I just need her to hold [Ryan] for a second or whatever it is, she’s just there to support me in any way she can," Haylie said.     4. U.K. parents want an age limit for when kids can own a cell phone
    A new survey by the e-safety group Internet Matters has revealed that 85 percent of parents of elementary students want an age requirement -- the majority believing no child should own a cell phone until he or she hits age 10. Although age 10 seems too young, it's the age when kids explore their newfound independence. Currently, 65 percent of eight- to 11 year olds in the U.K. own a cell phone. This shows that there is a growing concern among parents about what their kids view online, whether it's on a computer or mobile. (mirror.co.uk)

    5. Update on diagnosing autism
    In the latest issue of JAMA, scientists provide an updated assessment of the different tests and identiify which ones will work best for detecting genetic mutations associated with autism. This is crucial for guiding parents on the proper care for each form of autism. In recent years, scientists have been able to identify 100 different gene mutations that puts a child at higher risk to have the disorder. This paves the way for specific tests to be done at higher accuracy. (time.com)
