1. Kean Cipriano finally confirms Chynna's pregnancy

At the premiere of the horror comedy film "Echorsis: Sabunutan Between Good and Evil", Kean Cipriano finally spoke about his wife Chynna Ortaleza's pregnancy. "It’s a dream come true. It is a dream come true. It’s all I can say. It’s the best thing that ever happened to me," he said on being dad-to-be. He prefers not to give any more details about the pregnancy because "it's sacred that way". Sources have confirmed that Chynna is due to give birth this April.  (pep.ph)


2. Philippines launches dengue vaccine program
April 4, 2016 is a historic date for the country as it launched its very first dengue vaccine program. Several hundred nine- and ten-year-old kids from a public school in eastern Manila lined up to get their dengue shots from government healthcare workers. The shot, called Dengvaxia and developed by French drug manufacturer Sanofi, was approved in December 2015, and is intended for people between the ages of 9 and 45. Department of Health Secretary Janette Garin said that we are the first country to introduce, adopt and implement the first ever dengue vaccine in a public health system. (gmanetwork.com)


3. Disney is now making designer swimwear

If you can't wait to see "Finding Dory"

, Disney has something to tide you over until June. The film's studio has partnered with Trina Turk, a California-based designer best known for her bright and preppy prints, to come up with their first adult swimwear line. The swimwear line will feature oceanic prints based on some of the backdrops spotted in Finding Dory. "The inspiration for the print came from the film’s background art, with Dory and Nemo swimming through bright, multicolored seaweed, coral, and anemones against an aqua background. These cheerful surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for Dory and her friends in this exclusive print," Turk said in a statement.

4. New York passes paid family-leave policy
The U.S. is one of the countries that provide the worst paid-leave policies, but the state of New York is changing that. The New York State Legislature passed a bill making paid family leave time a law for nearly every person who has a job. New-parent employees, whether by natural birth, adoption, or foster care, will now be entitled to 12 weeks paid leave. Even those who are new to a company will be eligible. Employees who have family members who are ill can use the paid family leave to care for them. The law will fully take effect in 2018, and will be phased in over a period of four years.
