1. Kris Aquino speaks up about ex James Yap and his new baby
The TV host and actress did not hold back as she fielded questions from members of the press during the first-ever Wash Summit of laundry detergent Ariel (she is the brand's ambassador). The mom-of-two admitted she was afraid of how son Bimb would react to the news of having a new baby brother, James Yap's first child with girlfriend Michela Cazzola. She also revealed that they both learned about the pregnancy only via Facebook and not directly from James, but Kris said Bimb took it well.
"Kasi I've been discussing it with him and I’ve been saying, 'Please tell me when you’re ready. Let's make a call. Let's be the ones to call them and say, 'Hey, I'd like to meet my brother.' And then, Bimb said, 'Okay, Mama, I’ll tell you when.'" Kris admitted that she was hurt "because my son deserved to find out [from James in person]." She added, "Sana diniretso sa kanya [yung balita]."
In a pep.ph interview, Kris said her first instinct was to shield her son. "It's not about you [James], e, it's about your child. It's about how it will affect your child," Kris elaborates. "Pero it takes two. And I think I have done more than my share in trying to be the mature one, because I’m 10 years older, so dapat lang. Pero at this stage din naman of the life of the father, it’s time also to man up."

5. WHO urges governments to impose taxes for sweetened beverages
The World Health Organization (WHO) reiterated its recommendations that governments need to start imposing tax on sweetened beverages to help bring down increasing obesity rates. "There is reasonable and increasing evidence that appropriately-designed taxes on sugar-sweetened beverages would result in proportional reductions in consumption, especially if aimed at raising the retail price by 20 percent or more," WHO concluded in a new report. According to the WHO report last year, 42 million children under the age of 5 worldwide were overweight or obese -- this is an increase of about 11 million in 15 years. Apart from taxing sweetened beverages, the WHO also recommend subsidizing fruit and vegetables, which could help reduce prices by 10 to 30 percent and help improve both kids' and adults' dietary habits.
