2. Tiny robots may help sperm swim more quickly
Sperm-bots? The American Chemical Society released a video showing how tiny robots could someday help infertile couples. According to a new study published in the journal Nano Letters, the sperm-bots are made of micro metal motors that wrap around a sperm cell and help it swim to an egg and fertilize it. Its movement could even be controlled via a remote. This technology could help fertility treatments, as one of the main causes of infertility in men is that their sperm could not swim well enough to reach women’s eggs.

3. Pregnant? Avoid eating potatoes
A new study published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) found that women who eat two to four servings of potatoes a week are most likely to suffer gestational diabetes, or diabetes in pregnancy. The long-term research studied more than 21,000 pregnancies showed that women who had five servings of the carb-rich root crop is 50 percent more likely to get gestational diabetes. However, the study didn’t say directly that potatoes cause the condition. Medical experts, though, are suggesting that pregnant women or those who are planning to get pregnant could substitute potatoes with veggies or whole-grain foods. (huffingtonpost.co.uk)

The baby girl, whose umbilical cord is still attached, was severely dehydrated and at risk for hypothermia. Urrea, who had recently become a mom herself, did what she had to do. Her maternal instincts kicked in. “I’m a new mother and I have milk, and I recognized the needs that this poor little creature had. I think any woman would have given her nourishment in the same circumstances,” she said in an interview with the local news. (yahoo.com)ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
