  • 1. Will baby Zia join Marian Rivera in her new talk show?

    Marian Rivera's new talk show "Yan Ang Morning!" looks to be the prime spot to see her daughter Zia's very first live TV debut. However, she also says it's not a done deal yet. "Depende siguro sa okasyon. Pero huwag na, okay na yung ganun na lang, picture na lang. Malay mo sa birthday ko, i-surprise nila ako?" she quipped. "Yan Ang Morning!," Marian said, will have a social media presence that would give her audience, especially first-time moms like her, an avenue to ask questions. It will air Mondays to Fridays on GMA-7 starting May. Marian also revealed that Baby Zia's first endorsement will air this April. (pep.ph)

    2. Quezon City joins global #SafeCities program


    Quezon City is the first and only city in the Philippines to join The United Nations’ Global Safe Cities initiative, which aims to prevent and respond to sexual harassment and other forms of sexual violence against women and girls in public spaces. Quezon City is currently reviewing and updating its local policies to make public sexual harassment a crime and not just in the domestic space. Village officials and grassroots organizations also help to raise awareness on the rights of women to move freely and safely in their neighborhoods. (facebook.com/unwomen)

    3. New Sesame Street character is Afghan

    Meet Zari, a six-year-old girl who is the very first Afghan Muppet. Her name means "shimmering" and is described as "curious and eager". She will be featured in Season 5 of Afghanistan's Baghch-e-Simsim, the local co-production of Sesame Street and one of the country’s most popular children’s television shows. Zari will give positive messages on physical health and well-being, national identity, and talking to doctors about taking care of oneself. (ew.com)

    If you're seeing Finding Dory this June, make sure to come to the cinemas early to see Pixar's new adorable short film character. Piper is about a big-eyed, diminutive little beach-dwelling bird, who will headline the short film that will precede the Finding Nemo sequel. The six-minute short will tell the story of the hungry baby sandpiper trying to overcome hydrophobia, learning how the food chain works, and the way of the waves. Piper will premiere in theaters with Finding Dory in June. (ew.com)

    5. Hailee Stanfield tours Manila


    Singer-actress Hailee Stanfield, whose maternal grandfather is half Filipino, finally reconnected with her roots when she toured Intramuros during her Philippine visit last week. “Very early on, I was made aware of how much passion and pride Filipinos put into anything. I feel so connected to the people and the culture. It is so nice to be somewhere far from home and still feel like I am home," The Pitch Perfect 2 star reportedly said in a press conference upon arriving in Manila.
