KidsFest, the children’s theatre festival originally slated on January 17-26 in Manila, has been postponed for a later date, announced in a statement by international theatre production company ABA Productions executive producer Matthew Gregory.
Following a successful run of “The Gruffalo” earlier in 2013, KidsFest 2014 was set to bring live performances of well-loved children’s books “The Gruffalo’s Child” and “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” to the local theatre scene.
''Typhoon Yolanda has forced, rightly, a clear change of focus for the whole population, and spending money on entertainment has been replaced with helping others in need. Ticket sales have reflected this and we feel it is in the best interests of all concerned to postpone to a future time, possibly in 2015,” Gregory said.
KidsFest was set to donate the equivalent of one performance to youth displaced and affected by typhoon Yolanda, as well as financial contributions to the relief efforts. Every effort will be made to honor this commitment when KidsFest returns to Manila.
“We have notified TicketWorld for the suspension of ticket sales, and refunds will be issued,” adds Gregory . “I would like to take the opportunity to thank all our partners for the support, and sincerely hope to bring KidsFest to Manila in the near future.”
