Best Vacation Stories from Real Parents: Island Dream (Boracay)A mom and doctor shares how she and her husband had their dream vacation in Boracay.
When was the last time you went away with your family? We’re not talking about trips to the mall where everybody ends up shopping and eating fastfood; we’re talking about leaving your everyday schedule behind and devoting all your energy and attention on each other. Don’t waste anymore time. Pack your bags like this family did, and have a grand time!
It was our first family out-of-town trip. My husband, John Paul, and I, together with our son Paolo Vito, went all the way to Boracay last February 2009. Since we are both doctors, it was tough coordinating our schedules to plan a real vacation—and we were only too glad that this one pushed through.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOWCONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
From Manila, we headed to Iloilo by air, where my husband’s family lives. From there, we traveled by land to Caticlan, Aklan for about five hours, and embarked on a pump boat ride to the island of Boracay. It was off-peak Bora season, as locals put it, so there were fewer people. It was great to have the island all to ourselves.
We frolicked under the sun, enjoyed the white, glimmering sand, and the clear, blue water that Boracay is famous for. We stayed at Fairways and Bluewater Resort and Golf Country Club, a place known for its plush villas and golf course overlooking the beach. As it was my son’s first trip to the beach, my husband and I thought he deserved a visit to this paradise of an island. Though we have gone to many beaches, my husband and I had never enjoyed ourselves this much—especially while we watched Paolo playing in the sand, wading on the shore, and squealing with delight at the sight of colorful sailboats afloat. Our joy was indescribable. My son may be too young to remember any of these, but I will make him a scrapbook to record the first time he traveled with us and set foot on Boracay.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
