Staycation spot #1: New World Makati Hotel
If all the time you have for some rest and relaxation is a weekend, and don’t want to spend half of it on the road, a stay-cation at the newly-redesigned Residence Club of the New World Makati Hotel is your best bet.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
The only deluxe hotel located within the Greenbelt shopping center, New World Makati Hotel greets one with a modern and minimalist lobby that reflects clean lines and hints of Oriental influence. Twenty-four floors up, one is treated to personalized and friendly service at the Residence Club reception area, which is both spacious and modern. For a family with small kids who are anxious to get to the room and get their mini-holiday going, the fast and private check-in is a godsend.CONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
The Residence Club Deluxe Rooms are amply-sized and welcoming. The design is pretty straightforward, which is a relief for parents with very active children as there is almost no danger of damaging breakables, or kids getting trapped inside cabinets, because the hotel’s modern design employs open shelves and closets. The king-sized bed is very comfortable. A cozy corner couch takes the place of the usual accent chair and combines aesthetics and functionality, as it could actually serve as additional sleeping area for the kids.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Rooms are equipped with the standard amenities of a hotel room -- a large flat-screen LED TV, a well-stocked mini-bar – but one will be amused to find a wall USB charger and HDMI port by the worktable. This well-thought-of feature anticipates that guests would probably want to sit back and enjoy a movie marathon straight from Dad’s laptop to the TV, and takes out the guesswork as to which cable should go to which connector.
It’s also a thoughtful touch to have food items tucked neatly inside nondescript boxes and placed high up on the shelves, thus lessening the possibility of kids munching on them by mistake.
As with most hotels, each room is provided with a safe for secure storage of valuables. New World Makati Hotel’s deluxe rooms make good use of the nighttables by fitting one discreetly with an in-drawer safe, and placing strategically on the other -- where one could quickly reach it in case of an emergency -- a fire escape kit with clear instructions for use.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
The bathroom is spacious and clean. The ingenious design substitutes a sliding divider in place of a concrete wall, so parents can leave it open and relax on the bed while keeping an eye on the little ones playing in the bathtub, or keep things private and intimate long after the kids have gone to bed.
All rooms in the top four floors of the hotel have access to the Residence Club Living Room on the 24th floor, which serves complimentary coffee, tea, and refreshments throughout the day. Cookies and nibblers are also free-flowing. Snacks, cocktails and spirits are served daily from 5:30 to 7:30 in the evening, and the spread is often enough to tide one over until the next morning. Those checked in at the floors other than the 24th will appreciate that the Living Room can be accessed by stairs, so that there is no need to wait for an elevator just to get your caffeine fix.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
The Living Room is a place where one can enjoy solitude and just read the morning paper over coffee, have some quiet couple time while watching the sun set over the stunning Makati skyline, or get playful with the brood at the family area. Complimentary Continental breakfast is also served here exclusively for Residence Club guests, although a wider selection of cuisines can also be had at Cafe 1228, which is located at the ground floor.
If the kids are raring to go out, Greenbelt 3 is literally just a few steps across the hotel, and shopping malls (Glorietta and Landmark), restaurants, movie houses, bookstores, a place for worship, and a green park are easily accessible by foot through a pedestrian-friendly elevated walkway. The swimming pool at the 4th floor is also a great place to while away the time and enjoy the outdoors with the family.
With all the things one can do in and within the vicinity of the New World Makati Hotel, one would surely want to keep coming back for for rest, recreation, and fun moments with the family.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
