We asked Raf Dionisio, one of the people behind the Kids' Camp, a few questions about the program:
Q: Who are the main organizers/movers behind the International Farm Village Kids' Camp?
A: It was planned by the GK Enchanted Farm, whose founder is Tony Meloto, who also founded Gawad Kalinga (GK).It's currently overall managed by Vicki Cabrera.
Q: What led to the conceptualization of the International Farm Village Kids' Camp?
A: We want to encourage kids to discover the beauty of the Philippines, to enjoy and connect with nature, to connect with poor communities, and to see that we can produce a lot of high-value food using local materials. We hope that these kids become entrepreneurs one day so we want to try to build their confidence and expose them to many products.
Q: What can participants — kids and parents — expect from the Camp?
A: (They will) learn how to make cheese, chocolate, plant herbs, do vermiculture. It will be hosted by an international team of Filipino and French entrepreneurs.
Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm also offers the following:
