i just saw this thread... at ngayon para akong ewan umiiyak dito.. my deepest condolences to the family of baby Maxene...

my daughter was hospitalized when she was 8 months old because of continous low grade fever... 5 days straight..
first suspect ni pedia niya was occult bacteremia, then, next was kawasaki.. thank god hindi kawasaki... i didnt know what this disease was at that time...  but  from what i understood, it was worse.. i prayed really hard talaga that time na sana hindi naman...

back then, all i asked was if both are treatable (stupid me)  she said yes but said not to worry YET because at that time, my daughter was still under observation pa...  fever was gone on the 7th day... (2 days na kami sa hospital) and tests showed negative for kawasaki...  pero we stayed in the hospital pa for 3 days to make sure na hindi na babalik yung fever niya.. it was indeed occult bacteremia and test results proved it...  thank god a million times that she's better na
10 days and up daw isa sa sypmtoms kapag kawasaki...

Heartbreaking. :( I'm at a loss for words while reading this... Especially how the little angel was holding on because Mommy was calling her name and wants her to stay.. The tears were unstoppable from that point on... My prayers go to to little Maxene that she may now be in God's arms, and especially for the parents, that they may find strength and hope.

KD is indeed a scary scary scary disease. And tama mga mommies, kahit slight fever lang, we have to be really observant. Minsan tinatawag akong paranoid ng in-laws and hubby ko because I'm always bothered sa konting lagnat lang, and I tell them that I'd always rather play safe. Gusto ko laging alam ko what's happening with her, pag di pa nawala yung lagnat on the second day, I bring her to the doc agad. Sa kin kasi mas maganda palagi ang naagapan ang sakit, whatever it is.

I have come to know a mom whose daughter suffered KD before she turned 1, thankfully the little girl survived.  It was indeed an experience na hindi makakalimutan.

Let's always pray pray pray for our family's good health....

I know how it feels na mawalan ng anak though not because of Kawasaki. I lost my child when she was still in my tummy. Fetal demise. Unknown reason. While reading the story, tears are pouring like rain and up until typing this message umiiyak pa rin ako.  :'(

By my side, natutulog ng mahimbing ang 3-month-old na daughter ko. After 3 years may baby na ko ulit pero hindi naaalis yung pangamba ko na baka bukas makalawa mawala rin sya. Im just praying sa angel ko na sana bantayan niya kapatid niya and present also my request to God to keep my baby safe always from any diseases or harm..

just got discharged from the hospital because my 1yr & 1month old son got kawasaki disease. I have learned that IVIG should be given within 10 days from day 1 of fever.

I was out of the country from feb 23-26. My hubsand and my inlaws took care of my son. On feb 25 (day 1), he had a fever, start on 11 am. then next was 5pm fever with red eyes.

Feb 26 (day 2)- he still has a fever plus redness of eyes. my husband rushed him to the ER. and pinauwi sila kasi walang optha doctors to check his eyes,

Feb 27 (day 3) - Monday morning, still he has a fever. We went to his pedia for check up, upon seeing his red eyes, mouth and tounge his pedia suspect that its a Kawasaki disease. To make sure he ordered to have a CBC. After lunch, i went back to the hospital to personally handed the result to the pedia and the result of the CBC is his WBC is above normal, his platelet is ok within the normal. she ordered CBC again and ESR  She said, usually kawasaki fever is upto 5 days, with rashes on trunk (tummy). When i got home I saw rashes and called his pedia and advised us to have him admit to do some lab test.  We went again to the ER for admission.

Feb 28 (day 4) - 3 am he has a fever again. that was his last fever. 5am, blood extraction for CBC and ESR. Pedia came and read the result to us. CBC result, WBC went a bit lower but still above normal, platelet got high but within normal. ESR is very above normal, so he referred us to Pedia Cardio who is making a research for Kawasaki. He ordered CRP and 2 echo the next day. for the mean time he want to observe if may lalabas pang ibang symptoms ng kawasaki. as per his cardio, he qualifies 3 out of 5 criteria for kawasaki, so if his CRP and 2d echo shows abnormality then he can say its a incomplete/atypical kawasaki, but still need to have IVIG, which is very expensive. cost per vial is 8k, and needs 8 vials for his weight. price is already discounted.

Feb 29 (day 5)  - fever free.. 5am extract blood for CRP. when cardio saw the result its above normal. he perform 2d echo and saw slight enlargement in the right artery. after his 2d echo, that we need to have a IVIG, right after, they ordered the IVIG and came in that evening and start the IVIG transfussion. we started 11:15pm and it will run for 12 hours. for the 1st  2 hours of the transfussion, the resident pedia stays in our room to monitor if it has any reaction to him. Thank God no bad reaction to him.. Every 30 minutes, nurses and pedia residents came in to check him.

Mar 1 - 11:15am IVIG transfussion is done.  he need to observe for 48 hrs after the transfussion. It went well. and we were discharge after 2 days.

He needs to take aspirin for this, after 3 weeks will go back for repeat 2d echo. we are praying hard that all be normal.

i read that thread and akala ko di ako maiiyak pero nung sa gitna na di na ko makahinga bigla nalang tumulo tears ko :(

saan ba talaga nakukuha ang kawasaki disease? i tried checking wikipedia masyado medical na yung terms for me pero parang nakalagay dun mas susceptible yung mga asians lalo na japanese sa sakit na ito.. :( ang mahal ng cure pero sana malaman na nila ang cause like kung environmental ba or kapag may food na naingest. nakakatakot kasi.
