what time does you baby sleep and time of waking up?
« on: July 04, 2007, 12:23:39 am »

My 4.5 year old Gabbie sleeps most of the time at 11pm.

Now that there's school again, I make her sleep as much as possible at 10pm.

I wake her up 10am the next day with just enough time to prepare for school at 12nn.

I think ur kido has a complete number of hours sleeping. Compare to my son Jeff, he also sleeps almost 11pm @ night but during day time I make sure he can take a sleep for almost three  to four hours also, coz he has lots of fun playing w his kuya who is turning 18 yrs old, even though the age gap is 14 yrs they're very close to each other resulting to late night in bed. Haay hirap din ang layo ng pagitan..... but I enjoyed with the way they treat each other.

But Jeff wake up @ 630 or 730 am i was thinking na kulang ang sleeping time niya .........

I have 2 kids aged 5 and 10 months old respectively.  Funny how they seem to be poles apart where slumber matters are concerned.  My eldest is a certified night owl...sleeping is her worst enemy.  When you tell her to sleep, it's like you're going to poison her.  She needs to be in school by 8 am, but stays up late(like now).  When it's time for her nap in the afternoon, she still insists that she's not sleepy.  And it does take time for her to fall asleep.  But mind you, she's not the hyperactive type.  She just doesn't like to sleep.  this has been a constant problem for us eversince she was a baby.  She seems to have the worst sleeping habits and I don't know why. With her, I experienced how it was to stay up until sunrise.  I felt like a security guard on the graveyard shift.  On the other hand, my little boy has a well-established sleep pattern.  He has been sleeping through the night eversince her was around 3 months old.  What more, by 8 pm, he is usually off to dreamland. I just let him lie down and there he goes.....tossing and turning.....then I just notice he's fallen asleep. I don't know why they are different.  I did not raise one any differently from the other.  They both sleep with us.  My baby boy drinks the same milk his sister drank when she was a baby.  It could be an inborn thing. ::)

My daughter francine is turning 3 yrs old this Sep.  It seems her late sleeping habbit is getting worse - 10 pm 12 then 1am as she gets older.  Thats because she learned "early" how to operate the dvd and she would interchange her cds (elmo barbie dora happyfeet) or ask someone until she falls asleep.  But there was a time I realized that she falls asleep easily when being cradled - hugged on to me.  Now i have strategies -- i give her curfew on watching tv depending on my energy to keep up with her awake.  If she cries about it, i read her favorite books over and over.  If her eyes are still unhypnotized with my story-telling, i cradle her to sleep while telling her that she needs to sleep because I want her to grow up.

being a mother of two "hyper" twins is really hard especially when its time to sleep, because they're sleeping in one bed they're always playing, laging naghaharutan, and they're very very tricky...pipikit sila then pagnakatalikod ka na naghahagikhikan na!!!
They are in Grade 1 now so they really have to be in school by 7 am,nag impose ako ng study habit nila...ang ginagawa ko ngayon after naming mag dinner,I make them read for an hour,or we make activities like solving basic math problems...after that they're sleepy na at talagang mahimbing ang tulog ;D

my eldest, kyle who's 2 years old usually sleeps around 930 - 10pm then wakes up around 8-830. but sometimes i wake him up around that time or else he can sleep until later. (batugan ata haha joke!) and in the afternoons he gets to nap for 2-3 hours.

while my youngest, keon who's 7 months today (yey!)- sleeps around the same time as his kuya then wakes up around 7 in the morning. then catnaps again after his morning bath. after lunch, kuya and keon take their naps and wake up around the same time too.

nung may pasok pa sya he sleeps at around 9pm, nung nagbakasyon na sya aba natuto na matulog nang late..10 or 11 pm.. tapos gigising pa ng maaga.. pero now eto na naman sasanayin ko na naman sya matulog ng maaga siguro mga 8pm papatulugin ko na sya para by 9pm talagang tulog na.. I dont let him nap in the afternoon and no sweets before bedtime para talagang makatulog na sya.. sometimes kasi pag nakainom ng matamis before bedtime like milo or milk he'll be all over the place.

My 6 month old kids, sleeps at around 8pm and wakes up at 5am.  Sometimes they wake up in between to feed.
I noticed too that when they take afternoon naps, they are more difficult to put to sleep at night.
Sometimes, keeping the room dark and quite helps them to get sleepy.  Most of the time, when they hear their lolo hum "Silent Night", they sleep faster. ;D

i suggest to all new mothers to read the book BABYWISE.  it is the most vital thing I treasure in developing a healthy sleeping and feeding method for my baby.  At 4 months old, my baby sleeps throught the night.  The book explains that a baby's cry is not always because of hunger.  It promotes Parent Directed Feeding; you do not wait for the baby to cry for milk before you feed them, you follow a certain schedule; its more of aniticipating their need.  I breezed through the unstable sleeping pattern of a baby's first 3 months because of this book.
Moreover, BABYWISE II helped me naman introduce solids to my baby the very efficient way.  I was able to feed my baby well without having to resort to tasty and sweet stuffs.
