hi sis,

better is to bring your baby to his/her pedia and ask about it.
babies are so delicate... might cause change in popo... medyo ma praning ka pa pag ganun...  ;)

I tried Gain, Lactum, Nido Jr., Bear Brand Jr.and Enfagrow nung ng-1 year old baby yung eldest ko. Pero we ended up drinking or donating those sa mga kakilala kasi sa Gold series ng Wyeth siya nahiyang. We started sa S26 Gold, Promil Gold, now Progress Gold.

Every after drinking milk, napupu sya..:( kaya feeling ko If we won't try another milk, baka bumagsak weight niya. Hindi niya talaga gusto cgro pati lasa unlike pag promil gold or regular, ok naman sya wlang tapon at 8oz per feeding. Sana ok yung enfagrow a+.

One more thing mga momsies, ilang oz ba ng milk should our 1 year old has to drink? any comments on this..:) Baka kasi sobra lang ako sa expectation ko na at least 35-40 oz/day..:) with konti2 solids and cerelac..

hello mommy, yung 15.5 months old son ko nakaka 40-45 oz. ng milk sa buong araw and maximum of 8 oz. ang tinitimpla every feeding niya kase may mga times na di nauubos and minsan naman kulang pa and he's asking for more.Progress Gold din milk niya dati hanggang ichange na din namin sa Nido Jr. and so far humiyang naman sa kanya. In terms of solids, mahilig sya sa cereals and sa mga bread in between meals.picky eater sya before and ngayon ok na ulit, balik gana na sa pagkain. :)

hi mommy.

Hi mommy majousef,
My son used anchor 1-3 before, pero he's using anchor 3+ na ngayon kase 3yo na siya.hehe
Ok naman yung anchor 1-3, aside from being cheaper compared to other growing-up milk, masarap din siya. (tinitikman ko muna kase.hehe)
Wala rin kami problem sa pagkain  niya ng solid.magana sya, actually to prove that overweight nga siya.hehe di naman obese, medyo overweight lang.
ok naman yung pupu niya , usually once a day sya nagpupu.
I suggest try mo muna yung nasa small box..   ;D

Hi mommy! Okay din kay Tim yung Anchor 1-3. pag morning ito nilalagay ko sa cereal niya and at the same time, meron pa sya in glass.hehe. Matakaw pa rin pero hindi tabain. 3 to 4 times sya umiinom ng milk. Usually pag kumakain ng rice, may kasabay na milk pa.c",). pag poo-poo ok din po. 1 to 2x a day, depende sa dami ng kinakain niya, hehe.

my kids, bonna, bonamil then bonakid

now my eldest 3yr old i using lactum 3+ yung choco minsan kasi gusto niya milo e. though ok naman yun but the nutrition na kailangan ng body niya at her age wala naman dun. but still she's drinking bonakid 1-3 yrs old every night. lactum choco through ut the day.

check with your pedia...

mrsbueno, I'm a young mom.. kaya di ko pa masyadong kabisado if what ba talaga best milk for my 1.1 yr old baby.. Sabi kc pedia niya, deretsyo lang yung Mylac XL hanggang 2y.o siya, eh ang hirap maghanap ng ganung milk na 900g , madalas 350g lang available kaya masyadong magastos.. may nagkapagsabi sakin try ko daw nido jr., as of now, un trinatry ko for my baby.. so far , la naman akong nakikitang negative effect kay baby. Yesterday, nirefer ko sa ibang pedia, and ang sinugest is gain plus, nakabili na ko pero di pa natry ni baby kc paubos ko pa yung mylac xl..

I really can't decide on what milk ba talga would be the best for my baby. pls help.. thanks.

Sis, progress gold din Yuri now..

when AK turned 1yo, i asked her pedia if puwede na palitan milk niya (gain). sabi niya ok lang daw as long as magustuhan ni AK. and she preferred nido over lactum. marami yata kids nasisira ang teeth development sa lactum kase sa sugar content. sabi rin yun ng cousin kong nurse. even though, hindi rin nagustuhan ni AK ang nido. so until now, she's 3yo, gain advance ang milk niya.

it's always best to consult your pedia. you may try different kinds, pero atleast well guided ka ng pedia mo. not all the time naman din kase, what's okay with our kids eh okay din sa kid mo. madalas nga hindi. hiyangan din.

Thank you sa reply.

what i have checked and compared are the nutritional content ng Nido Jr and ng Progress.. mas ok talaga ang Progress due to some nutrients na wala sa Nido... kaya lang sobrang mahal. anyways, naka one year naman sya ng s26/promil...

sis,

depende kasi kung ano ang gusto mo ma achieve. in my case, from the start enfa series kami., mostly, yung mahal na milk, it has more nutrients talaga kumpara sa mga murang milk. kaya di masyadong tataba yung anak mo. pero if you want na chubby, you may try Nido or Bona kasi more on carb yun kaya talagang lalaki si baby.

in my case, kaka one year old lang kasi ng baby ko.enfagrow si baby plus Nido Jr. nakakatuwa kasi nung nagstart siya mag Nido, lumakas kain niya ng rice. sabi nga nila bumilog si baby ko. enfagrow siya mula hapon hanggang night tapos Nido siya sa araw. pero i will also try pediasure. sabi kasi ng ofismate ko, ok din daw yung pedisure super pricey nga lang.  :)

this thread is very helpful.

i was thinking also what to give my son na milk when he turns 3. i've always liked the taste of anchor (nung student pa ako), and super yummy siya.

and true, super tamis ng lactum. parang condensed milk na hinaluan ng water. i tasted my nephew's milk and got super shocked, so si baby, no lactum ever!

I have been reading this thread this my baby just turned 1.  We gave her Gain Plus kc Similac gamet niya before. Nagulat nga ku when I first bought the 200g (not sure basta yung smallest can), around 300+ lang, then i bought the 900g ata and around 700+ lang. Now yung Nido Jr 2K for P800?! Laki pla talaga ng difference! Pero how can you say kung hiyang si baby? Is it on their poops?

^ one way of checking is thru their poop mommy or in my baby's case kung walang lumalabas  n mga rashes after ng milk intake...my baby has been drinking enfapro lactose free since he is 6mos, ngayon that he's turned one, enfagrow a+ na kami, sabi ng pedia niya it's best to take enfa kasi in case na maallergy siya ulit meron din un counterpart na lactose free..pero so far ok naman kay baby, maganda kulay ng poop niya, d na din siya constipated...although minsan nga lang he poops 2x or 3x a day but i guess it's normal...still best to consult with your pedia para no worries.. :)

sa intake ni baby ng milk, its 7oz every 2hrs or 3hrs, tapos i give him cerelac once or 2x aday, and pag kakain kami kain din siya ng rice and ulam...maybe our babies will be the best indicator kung ok ba yung binibigay nating feeding sa kanila kasi in my case c baby pag busog na siya, d na niya uubusin yung milk niya, with matching hagis ng bottle..hehe :)

Nido Jr din si Gabbie. Every 3 hrs nakaka 7 oz sha with matching taho sa umaga, rice sa lunch and evening and snacks in between. :)

hi sis shanelle, hindi naman siguro dahil sa milk yun kase most of the time sa poopoo nagrereflect kung di hiyang.probably because of the weather kaya sya nagka bungang araw which is very common talaga sa mga kids.madami ba sis?

yung baby ko NAN 3 yung follow up milk niya when he reached 1.Pero hindi siya nag gain ng weight sa NAN so his pedia recommended pediasure for 1 month. Hanggang sa maabot lang niya yung right weight for his age. Kaso pricey talaga siya. We want to switch to NIDO pag ubos na yung milk. Ngaun half kilo yung na gain ni Aidan sa pediasure in a week so maganda talaga siya. Hopefully ganun din sa Nido. =)

My sons been on Gain then Gain Plus Advance since he was 10mos old. Just last Sunday though, I shifted him back to Nan. Dati for 10-24mos ang Nan Three but now it's called Nan Pro Three for 12-36mos.

Had to take him off Gain kasi baka masira ang teeth at magka-diabetes sat tamis but I must admit, mas malakas sya magmilk sa Gain. At least he's not constipated now.

Enfa talaga yung baby ko since birth but we have to change her milk nung nag 1 na sya. Try namin yung Gain plus advance pero di sya tumataba. We tried Alactragrow but hindi din maganda yung effect sa kanya plus mahina consumed niya ng milk.

Nido Jr. milk niya ngayon. She likes it. Tumaba baby ko and bumigat talaga.

Hi mommies!

Share your experiences here with MILK formulas. Including price ranges and kagandahan nung milk. I saw a lot of milk formulas nung nagtingin tingin ako and i dont know which one is the best so i better ask the experts(you guys) about this. I am more on the practical side para hindi naman kami mahirapan.

0-4months - s26 and bf
5-12months - nan hw 1 and hw 2 (nahospitalize due to recurring allergies so change to nan na kami)
1 y/o to present - gain plus advanced
1 y and 8 months- gain plus advanced and pediasure

Newborn-1week: S26 Gold (he pooped every after feeding)
1week-3weeks: S26 Lactose-free (he had body rash)
3weeks-6months: Nan HW One
6mos-8mos: Nan HW Two
8mos-10mos: Nan Two (just tried to see if his rash wont come back)
10mos-12mos: Gain (naumay na sya sa lasa ng Nan)
12mos-14mos: Gain Plus Advance
For the past 4days: Nan Pro Three (ayaw ko sya masanay sa Gain, too sweet for me)

Hiyangan lang. I used to inform the pedia of his milk changes but she didnt seem to mind much so I stopped telling.

mommy tiny_little_mom, did you mean na yung rashes ng baby mo was beacuse of nan? She's 2 months old. Heat rash accdg to her pedia pero gusto ko rin makasiguro...

Nope mommy cherry. His rash was from S-26 lactose-free kaya I switched him to Nan HW because it's hypoallergenic.

same here sis van! s26 baby din ako :) kaya nga i asked pedia kung pwedeng s26 nalang si kenzo, sabi niya stick to nan or enfa nalang daw kasi medyo sensitive tummy ni bby boy.

I have a friend na super sensitive yung baby niya, pedia recommended NUTRAMIGEN but it was sooooo expensive but turned out na naok yung baby niya.

For us we started S-26 (sometimes GOLD if avail), now Promil (GOLD if avail din). :)

when my twins turned 1, we shifted to nido, jr. from promil.. okay naman on my twins.. and then we tried bear brand for about a month kasi it's cheaper, kaso lang my twins wouldn't eat, dede lang ng dede and madali lang silang nagkakasakit.. so we shifted back to nido, jr.

i have a friend who used lactum on her toddler pero ang effect din, ayaw na kumain.. dede lang ng dede..

I tried all three of these brands with Cali.

With Lactum, she had difficulty drinking it kasi siguro sa taste. Chaka super lambot and baho ng poopoo niya, you would think may diarrhea or something yung bata.

Nido Jr is ok, a few pesos more than Bonakid. With this naman nahirapan ako sa scoops vs water niya. medyo maliit kasi yung scooper. Plus, tigas poopoo ni baby. Kawawa pag umire. haha

Bonakid ang milk ngayon ni Cali. She likes the taste and hindi ako nahirapan na ipainom sa kanya. Ok ang poopoo, regular na once a day eh meron. Bumigat si Cali and tumaba. Mataba naman si Cali pero hindi bato-bato (which is the effect of Mylac and Mylac Pro) pero ngayon mas tumaba pa at bumigat at mas tumangkad. Ang only fault lang nito Bonakid eh madikit sa lata and sa milk dispenser. But swak sa budget coz we buy the 1.6kg na box, then transfer na lang sa can. :)

PROMIL, S26 and BONA are all made by WYETH. anong differences nila? pinakamura yung bona. and marami narin pala mura milk like bona meron ng nestogen by nestle and alacta meron pa ako nakita isa. nakalimutan ko kung ano.

ask your pedia the right milk for your baby. sa baby ko kasi i gave him NAN1(Hypoallergenic) until 6months, tapos NAN2 until 1year old, then PEDIASURE almost a year din.

Ang pagakakaiba nila ay ang promil, s26 and other gold series ay imported, it's manufactured by Wyeth Ireland yata..(well, sure ako sa s26 na it's from ireland kasi milk ni baby before e, di lang ako sure sa iba pa) while the Bona, Philippine made naman, kaya mura.

2nd-3rd week-NAN Lactose free
4th week til now- Enfalac Lactose free

Gusto na ng asawa ko i-switch to Enfalac A+ yung milk ni baby.. try namin bumili nung small carton muna and see if di na sasama timpla ng tyan niya. Goodluck!

Hi SP Mommies!

My darling just turned one this month... I was advised by my baby's pedia that I can now give her milks like Nido, Birchtree, and the like... Now, with all the different milks out in the market, I don't know what to give her...

Please moms, please shed me some of your expert advises with regards to what brand of milk should I give my baby...

Thanks in advance!  :)

my gurl just turned 1 year last week and hiyang siya sa Nan HW series kaya we opted sticking to it... Nan HW 3 na gamit niya now... though it depends naman mommy to which milk mahiyang si baby mo... medyo maselan kasi baby ko kaya kahit medyo pricey, i don't have a choice kundi pikitan nalang yung presyo ng milk niya... i've heard from my friends na okay din nga daw ang Lactum... lotsa luck finding the suitable milk for your lil one...  ;)

Mixed feeding when my boy was still a newborn.
As far as I remember,
Then:
NAN1 HW 3-6mos (asthmatic kasi ako so I opted for the nan hypoallergenic, tsaka ayoko talaga magkaron sya ng allergies)
NAN2 HW from 6mos-11mos
Gain Plus Advance 12mos-30mos
nag Pediasure at Nutren Jr. sya in between kasi payat sya nun
Now at 4yrs old, salitan lang with Lactum and Nido 3+. He likes the taste of Lactum choco kasi.

Nan hw1 900grams @ 850+
Nan hw2 900grams @ 820+
Pediasure (1 to 3 yrs) vanilla 900gms @ 850+
Pediasure (1 to 3 yrs) vanilla 1.7kg 1,565+
Advance Gainplus 1.8kg. @ 890+
Nutren Jr- one size lang sya - @ 460+
Nido 3+, 900 grams @ 349.50
Lactum yung big can 1.8kg @ 580+

Yes, magastos maging magulang :)

My hipag suggested enfalac, so we tried muna yung small can. Ayun, we decided to stick to it na. :)

Similac (900g) - 0-6mo

^Sa baby naman namin, yung regular Enfalac lang, kasi sabi ng pedia niya, since naka-mixed feeding naman siya, breastmilk on the side, he can already get the added nutrients sa breastmilk, so no need na for the A+..

when my eldest daughter turned 13 months i asked her pedia if we can change her milk from Gain to some brand cheaper. i was pregnant that time with our second so we were really hoping to scrimp with our budget. her pedia recommended Enfalac but it was kinda pricey pa din for us, i asked if she can have Nido Jr. instead. so far, we are satisfied with her weight gain with Nido, we don't want her to be fat naman, besides she's eating fairly well. she's now 16 months by the way.

i agree with most moms who've tried Nido that its sugar content is less than other brands, which is i think good coz it decreases her chances of having tooth decay. our daughter usually have her milk at night time.

My 2 year old son started with Nido Jr and now I'm just trying Lactum. I noticed that it is super sweet. I learned a lot from this topic because most Moms prefer Nido since the content is good with the affordable price.

I did not notice my Sons poop with either. I should pay close attention. I will also ask my pedia her preference and opinion re both esp. Lactum.

I noticed that my Son keeps asking for milk with Lactum. Nots ure if it is just his growing appetite or the brand.

I am partial to Nido JR because of the price and content (minus the possibility of tooth decay because of high sugar content) but justtried Lactum.

I would not mind shifting back to Nido JR but will try it out with Lactum for  now.

as far as i know Nan yung old name, Nan Pro yung new name.

Nan HW yung hypoallergenic. So Nan and Nan Pro are the same but Nan HW is different from them.

mommy2b baka erythema toxicum (spellcheck) yung sa baby mo. Its something newborns go through that goes away on its own and is totally harmless. Ganun kasi ata yung sa baby ko pero kaya nagrecommend yung pedia ng Nan HW is because of my asthma/allergy na baka meron din si baby. Kung yun reason mo for wanting to switch siguro better kung ask mo muna pedia :)

Feeding Your Toddler
Healthy Meals for Toddlers: Sneak in the Nutrients
Here are some (sneaky) ways to pump up the (nutritional) volume of your toddler's favorite foods. If your toddler seems to exist on little more than air, or you're just worried that your picky eater isn't getting enough nutrients, use these strategies to add wholesome ingredients to the foods she will eat.
Slip in some veggies. Add finely grated vegetables (carrots, beets, zucchini work well) to rice, cottage cheese, or even macaroni and cheese; they add a little color and a lot of nutrition.
Say cheese. Boost the calcium quotient by grating mild cheeses such as cheddar, Colby, or Monterey Jack over veggies, or mixing cottage cheese into pasta.
Redo the recipe. You can hide almost any veggie inside a meatball. Whenever you cook chopped meat, toss in some grated vegetables (again, carrots, beets, zucchini). They add a mild flavor, lighten the texture, and up the nutritional ante. Serving tomato sauce? Whether it's homemade or from a jar add in some finely chopped peppers, carrots, parsley, or beans, and cook till the veggies soften. If you like, run the sauce through the blender or food processor to totally hide the additions.
Get fruity. Mash super-nutritious blueberries into pancakes to make "bluecakes"; make whole-grain raisin muffin-cakes with cream cheese "frosting" — this muffin trick works just as well with carrots, pumpkin, and zucchini.
Sundae best. Layer pureed (or finely chopped) fruit with yogurt or cereal in a tall parfait glass. Or make a banana split for breakfast with a quarter of a banana, a dollop of yogurt, and a sprinkling of cold cereal.
Pizza time. Sprinkle small pieces of soft-cooked (or roasted) veggies on top of homemade or store-bought pizza.
Bake it in. For a real treat, make (good-for-you) cookies together. Look for healthier recipes such as oatmeal raisin or ginger snaps made with whole grains. Or grate zucchini or carrots into the batter of plain cookies or muffins to boost the fiber and vitamins.
Food for Toddlers: What to Serve
Toddlers' tummies are tiny, so try to make every bite count. In case you haven't noticed, most toddlers don't eat much at one sitting. Not only do their small stomachs have a small capacity, they just don't have the patience to sit through a whole (wholesome) meal. Your goal is to make sure that what you serve serves them well. Here are some tips on making that happen.
Find toddler foods that multitask. If your toddler will eat only one food at a time, opt for items that do double duty in the health department, for instance, string cheese (calcium and protein), peanut butter (protein and fiber), and whole-grain bread (complex carbs and iron)
Make drinks for toddlers real. Skip those juice "drinks" and go for the real thing instead. Milk is a nutritious choice, too, but can fill a little tummy pretty quickly after one or two cups. For drinking throughout the day, stick to water — plain or spiked with an ounce or two of juice — which is better at quenching their thirst without filling them up.
Snack wisely. Snacks are fine — in fact, they're necessary for toddlers who need to replace the endless energy they burn. But instead of salty chips or sugary cookies, keep a supply of whole-grain crackers or muffins, fruit, or cut-up carrots on hand. More good choices: low-sugar, whole-grain cereal; rice cakes; applesauce; bananas and peanut butter; a handful of pretzels.
Go for quality over quantity. When it comes to calories, nutrient-dense foods are the way to go. That means it's better to serve moderate amounts of nutrient-rich, higher-calorie foods (like peanut butter, avocados, and eggs) than to offer a steady diet of foods that do next to nothing for your tot's well-being (such as white pasta, white rice, white bread). And of course, avoid empty-calorie no-no's (like soda, french fries, and candy).
Change things up. Serving toddler foods of different colors, textures, smells, and tastes provides a variety of nutrients and prevents mealtime monotony. So even if your toddler demands PB and J day in and day out, try to build on his old reliable. Switch the kind of bread, add a few slices of banana, smear the mix on a couple of apple slices…. If your tot yearns for yogurt, stir in different types of fruit or granola. Hung up on mac and cheese? Toss in some broccoli florets or leftover chicken.
Ditch the distractions. For a toddler, television and toys at the table are a lot more interesting than peas and carrots. Minimize the extra noise but do engage your tot in conversation to keep him from hightailing it off the high chair before he's done eating.
Look at the big picture. Don't worry about each meal — just consider what your child eats over the whole day (or several days). Your goal is to supply him with protein (dairy or meat), calcium (dairy or veggies), vitamin C (fruits or veggies), a mixed bag of different color vegetables and fruits (several every day), whole grains (pasta and bread), iron-rich foods (legumes, cereal), and healthy fats…just remember you don't have to do it all at once!
Get the facts on fats. Kids need dietary fat because fats fuel the body, help absorb vitamins, and build essential hormones. But all fats are not created equal, and knowing which is which can make all the difference when it comes to long-term health and longevity. Best are heart-healthy unsaturated fats, found in plant foods and fish as well as olive oil, peanut oil, and canola oil. Next up: saturated fats, found in meat and animal products, like butter, cheese, and all milk (except skim) as well as palm and coconut oils, common ingredients in commercially baked goods. Too much saturated fat can raise your child's cholesterol levels and ultimately, increase his risk of heart disease later in life. To avoid: trans fats, found in margarine and many restaurant items as well as lots of snack foods, baked goods, and fried foods. Check labels for "hydrogenated" or "partially hydrogenated" oils and leave those items on the supermarket shelf. Like saturated fats, trans fats can increase cholesterol and the risk of heart disease.
How to React to Toddler Food Rejection
As with many things in life, when introducing a new food, if at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
It's the rare toddler who loves everything at first bite. It often takes five, ten, even 15 attempts before your budding gourmand accepts (and swallows) a new food. Remember, you're not only dealing with super-sensitive taste buds but also with a growing desire to be assertive (you can put it on my plate, Mom, but you can't make me eat it!). Fortunately, almost all toddlers will eat when they're really hungry, but while you're waiting here are some tactics for feeding your finicky one.
Go with the flow. Toddlers usually need to give food a full examination before they taste it. They'll touch and mash and sniff before the item actually meets the tongue. Don't let it get to you. The more matter-of-fact you are about foods (and eating), the less likely your toddler will be to turn mealtime into mayhem.
Come back with combos. Some toddlers reject new foods simply because they're not bland enough. In that case, try adding a little bit of the new more flavorful food to a bland one she already likes (for instance, add a touch of peas to her brown rice). Gradually add more, until you can serve each separately. And just so you know: Almost all kids outgrow ultrasensitive palates.
Switch gears. You never know what'll tickle a toddler's taste buds — or turn her stomach. Sometimes even favorite foods suddenly get the ick-treatment. In that case, try serving it in a different dish, using a different spoon, hot instead of cold, dry instead of with milk, as finger food instead of spoon-fed, or grated with cheese instead of plain. The point is to do what it takes (within reason) to peak her interest and get her to gobble it up.
Fork it over. Boost your toddler's budding independence and fine motor skills by giving her a set of her own kid-size utensils. You just might find that the novelty of feeding herself outweighs her impulse to reject her meal.
Vegetables for Toddlers: Go for the Green…and Red and Orange
A colorful palate is the healthiest way to serve up the veggies. If your toddler sees red at the suggestion of eating greens, try expanding his repertoire to include milder-tasting vegetables like carrots, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and winter squash. Not only might these options slide down the hatch, they'll provide an alphabet of vitamins and tons of fiber too.

Get a daily dose. Try to give your child at least three (and preferably five) servings of vegetables and two servings of fruit each day. Keep in mind that toddler servings are pretty small (about one tablespoon for each year of age for most cooked veggies), so a little goes a long way!

It takes a garden. To encourage eating a wide variety of veggies, make them available at every meal. Cooked asparagus, broccoli, and peas are all good "green" options to add to the spread. For additional variety (and color), serve mashed sweet potatoes, carrots, red bell peppers, and unsweetened pumpkin puree.

Be a good role model. Your own (positive) attitude about vegetables will go a long way toward getting your toddler to eat 'em up. If he sees you (or an older sib) snacking on carrots, chances are he'll want some too.

Factor in fruit for toddlers. Great news for mothers of veggie-hating tots: Fruits offer many of the same nutritional benefits, but often don't evoke the same yuck factor. Fruits also come in a rainbow of colors: Think of green kiwis (a good source of vitamin C), yellow bananas (potassium), and orange cantaloupe (fiber-rich and vitamin C–filled) and apricots (vitamin A). And don't forget about smoothies — just throw some fruit in the blender with milk or yogurt and serve (preferably with a silly straw!)

Toddler Drinks: Limit the Liquids
When your toddler has too much to drink, there's not enough room in his tummy for food.
It's true that toddlers need four to six cups of fluid every day, but the nutrients and fats in food are also essential for weight gain and overall development. If your toddler's not eating enough at meals, it may be because he's filling up on too much liquid. One way to reverse the tide is to give him his food before his drink. These strategies should help as well:
Switch to a cup. Bottle drinkers often overindulge in liquids because it's just so easy to do so. If you think your tot might be sipping too regularly, now's a good time to switch to a cup. Start by filling it with a little milk, water, or water mixed with juice, and offer it at meals and snacks, always before the breast or bottle. And recognize that drinking from a cup is a learning experience, so expect plenty of drips and spills along the way. If you'd rather opt for the spill-proof ease of a sippy cup, just be sure to limit its use (and offer regular cups too) — so it doesn't become habit-forming (like the bottle!).
Divvy up the drinks. What he drinks is just as important as how much. A growing toddler needs his daily dose of two to three servings (two-thirds to one full cup each) of milk, which leaves another two to three cups of other fluids (go for the upper limit when it's hot). You can track what he's drinking by measuring out three cups of milk and two of a juice-water mix in the morning, and serving it throughout the day (remember that foods with a high fluid content, like watermelon chunks, soups, or smoothies, count too!). Try to encourage him to get enough to drink, but don't make yourself crazy. The weather, his mood, his activity level, and his appetite can all affect how much he downs every day.
Be juice smart. Fruit juice (especially apple) is often a toddler's drink of choice, but try to expand his horizons. Instead of apple (which can sometimes be loaded with sugar and tough on the tummy), opt for naturally sweetened white-grape juice. Orange, papaya, and pineapple juice are loaded with vitamin C; apricot nectar has vitamin A; mango and vegetable juices kick in both A and C. Some juices (such as OJ) come with added (essential) calcium, too. A couple of no-no's: unpasteurized apple cider, which could contain harmful bacteria, and juice "drinks," even those enriched with vitamins. Don't be fooled — most only contain about 10 percent juice and lots (and lots!) of sugar and empty calories.
Water, water, everywhere. Plain old H2O is your best bet when your tot is thirsty. Not only is water easier on your child's tummy and teeth, but by helping him develop a taste for it now you'll set up healthy habits for life.

Recommended Carbs for Toddlers
Confused by carbohydrates? Here's how to sort through the starches.
Okay, here's a one-minute lesson on carbs. Carbohydrates are the body's primary source of fuel. All carbs are made up of sugars. Simple carbohydrates are smaller molecules of sugar, and complex carbohydrates are simple sugars bonded together to form a chain. What does this mean for your toddler (and for everyone who eats)? It takes longer to digest complex carbs and that's good — the slow absorption of sugars provides a steady supply of energy and limits the amount of sugar the body converts into fat.
Whole grains are an excellent source of complex carbs — they help regulate digestion, fight obesity, and protect against a long list of diseases that may have their roots in childhood. Fortunately, it's becoming easier to find products (for instance, "white" whole-grain bread) that are delicious and nutritious. So, instead of serving white rice, pasta, bread, and cereals made with refined flour, switch to whole-grain varieties and add these toddler-friendly complex carbs to the menu: brown rice, quinoa, lentils, chickpeas, pinto beans, kidney beans, or other soft-cooked beans that contain protein, vitamins, minerals, and fiber. A few more tactics to try:
Find that fiber. One simple way to add whole grains to your tot's diet is to seek them out in the types of foods she already eats. For instance, choose soups that contain barley and change your pancake mix to include buckwheat. Does your little one dig frozen waffles? Buy whole-grain varieties and look for breads and cookies that contain oats.
Read those labels. If the first ingredient listed is a whole grain, you're golden! Likewise, it's a good sign if the only grain listed is whole. But if refined flour is on the label think twice, and beware of foods that sound like they're whole grain but are not, like multigrain, refined pumpernickel or rye, stone-ground wheat, and wheat flour. Don't be fooled by the word "enriched" either. Even though the white flour may be enriched with some important nutrients (thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, and iron), about 20 other nutrients have been refined right out of it!
Sprinkle, sprinkle. Of course you can't make your child eat the best sources of fiber, but you can help make up the difference by sprinkling a little wheat germ on her pizza, spaghetti, or mac and cheese. It's got a great nutty flavor and adds a little crunch too.

Sugar for Kids: Sweet Nothings?
A sprinkle of sugar won't do much harm, but pouring it on is a recipe for disaster.
Newsflash: Kids like sweets (duh!)…and it's okay to give them treats now and then. But the more you help your toddler establish a taste for nonsweet snacks, the better off he'll be in the long run. So don't just assume he won't eat plain yogurt unless it's sweetened or that cottage cheese needs sugar to pass his taste test. Serve 'em up naked first and see how it goes (and if it doesn't go well, try it again…and again). Some facts to keep in mind:
White space. Pure sugar has no nutritional value, no vitamins, and no minerals. It's simply empty calories. So, for a toddler who needs all the nutrition he can get (from the small amount of food he actually eats), sugary treats are a waste of precious tummy space. To make matters worse, they can lead to tooth decay (baby teeth too!) and obesity (now and later).
A little goes a long way. Let's face it, despite your best efforts your toddler will no doubt get his hands (and teeth) on some sugary stuff now and then (especially if he's got an older sibling). So don't completely outlaw treats or you'll just make them more alluring. Try to offer up natural sweets such as fruit, sorbet, and snacks sweetened with fruit-juice concentrates — and when he does eat a genuine Twinkie, don't make a big deal of it.
The name game. Aside from the obvious sources (candy, cookies, cake), sugar lurks in some pretty surprising places. That's why it's really important to read the labels on prepared foods, breakfast cereals (and not just the ones that look frosted), canned fruits and drinks, and "natural" snacks like granola bars. Scan the ingredients list for words like: brown, raw, or turbinado sugar, fructose, glucose, honey, maple syrup, corn syrup, corn sweeteners, dextrose, and sucrose. After all, sugar by any other name is…still sugar.
Whole and Organic Food for Toddlers
When you shop for food, remember that the closer you are to the source, the fresher, more flavorful, and more nutritious it will be.
Walking down a supermarket aisle (with or without a toddler) can be daunting — there are so many choices, including prepackaged miracle meals in minutes that are hard to resist. But when you're feeding the toddler you love (or anyone, for that matter) your best bet is to start with the freshest (tastiest) and most wholesome foods around. Obvious stuff to avoid: chemicals, preservatives, artificial flavors and colors, and too much sodium and sugar. Some more rules to shop by:
Look locally. It's no secret that farm-fresh produce tastes better (and contains more nutrients) than fruits and veggies that come from far (sometimes very far) away. Find out whether there's a cooperative in your area. You pay for a share and get fresh (often organic) produce once a week, sometimes delivered right to your door. (But keep in mind: Fresh-frozen vegetables often have the same nutrients and rich taste as fresh, local varieties — and they're already washed and sliced!)

Understand organic. Here's the deal: Organic foods are guaranteed by the USDA to be free of toxic pesticides, fertilizers, hormones, antibiotics, and genetic modifiers. Eating organic food doesn't guarantee freshness or scientifically proven nutritional benefits, but it does reduce the intake of potentially harmful chemicals. Organics range from meat and poultry (note that free range does not mean organic) to produce, cereals, and dairy. A word to the wise: Certain fruits and veggies (aptly called the dirty dozen) have been identified as the ones most likely to contain pesticides, so whenever possible, opt for organic on these: apples, bell peppers, celery, cherries, imported grapes, nectarines, peaches, pears, potatoes, raspberries, spinach, and strawberries. The five fruits least likely to have pesticide residues are avocados, bananas, kiwi, mangoes, and pineapple. The vegetables least likely to have pesticides are asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, sweet corn, eggplant, onions, and sweet peas.

Prepare to prepare. Cooking basic food from scratch isn't as hard as you might think! If you can boil water you can make pasta. If you can turn on your oven you can roast a chicken. The advantage of making your own food is that you know what goes into your meals (and what doesn't). Your own whole-wheat noodles and real cheddar cheese is a lot healthier than a box of scary-hued mac and cheese labeled with a list of weird words. Homemade chicken nuggets baked with whole-grain bread crumbs may not come in funny shapes, but they're a whole lot better than the fried frozen versions.

Some big no-no's. There's just no reason to fill your child with artificial and/or grown-up additives like aspartame (Equal or NutraSweet), Olestra (fake fat used in some potato chips), or caffeine (check sodas, chocolate, and coffee-flavored products). And of course, avoid any foods or drink containing alcohol, which can be toxic to toddlers.

Family Meals
Eating as a family has lots of benefits, not the least of which is cooking — and serving — just one meal. When families dine together several times a week, kids (and parents!) are more likely to have healthier meals, consume more fruits and vegetables, and eat less junk food (that's actually been proven!). Older children who eat with their families even do better at school. Think it can't work in your house? Give it a shot, at least a couple of nights a week. With minor modifications (think spices and sauce), the whole family can sit at the table sharing news, practicing good manners, and enjoying the same food.
Pull up a chair. Make your toddler a real part of the family circle by pulling her high chair up to the table or attaching a sassy seat next to you. Watching grown-ups eat (and talk) will encourage her to try new foods, use utensils, and become more independent. Keep the attention focused on food and family — turn off the TV, ditch the toys, and squash sibling squabbles.
Table talk. Toddlers love routines, so include regular wordplay in your dinnertime and she'll feel right at home. For example, you might give everyone a chance to talk in turn, play a word game, say grace before digging in, or make up a new tradition. And don't forget to drop the magic words — please and thank you — into the mix as often as possible. Your little one may not say them yet but the more she hears them, the better the chances are.
Who's eating what? Toddlers are pretty observant. If yours sees everyone else eating chicken she may want to try it, too. And if she spies her older brother drinking chocolate milk and she's got plain, you're cruising for a food fight. So, as much as possible, try to serve everyone the same thing (or healthy variations, such as sweet potatoes versus white potatoes).
Respect her pace. Let your toddler eat at her own speed. This may mean she's done in 15 minutes — or 45. As long as she's eating and sitting happily, let her be — but once she starts fidgeting, whining, or playing with her food, consider the meal over.
Feeding Your Toddler
The Toddler Diet: Flexible Feeding
A toddler's tummy marches to its own drummer so be ready to bend (or break!) your eating rules.
A toddler's eating pattern can be as erratic as his taste buds, causing him to devour everything in sight one day and barely take a bite the next. But children this age need a steady flow of food to keep up their energy, so rather than try to get yours to conform to a strict three-meal-a-day timetable, set a loose schedule and follow his hunger cues. In the long run, it's more realistic to supplement his typical mini-meals with well-timed (healthy) snacks. More smart strategies:

Start the day right. Mom always said that breakfast was the most important meal of the day. Turns out she was right! Breakfast-skippers tend to be irritable and restless, and (surprise!) are more likely to become overweight. So make it a habit to begin your toddler's day with a good breakfast.

Timing is everything. After breakfast, try to figure out when your tot is most hungry and set mealtimes for just before his tummy typically starts to growl. This way you can ward off crankiness before it rears its ugly head. On days when your child can't seem to last until dinnertime, try giving him part of his meal to stave off the hungries, then he can finish eating later with the rest of the family.

Don't skip. It's a rare toddler who always eats what you want, when you want him to. But skipping an entire meal is definitely not a smart idea. Not only will it throw off his energy supply, it can wreck his eating schedule for the entire day (and maybe tomorrow!). So do try to get him to eat something — even a couple of bites is better than nothing.

Evaluate the snack schedule. A typical toddler routine — breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner — should keep him fueled throughout the day. But what (and how much) he eats at each of those times can affect the big picture. For example, if he's not eating much at dinner, maybe his afternoon snack is too close to mealtime, or it's simply too big. If he's cranky at ten a.m., consider a snack sooner after breakfast.

Do what works for (both of) you . The goal is to get your toddler to eat well and enjoy mealtime. If that means pancakes for dinner and chicken for breakfast, go for it![/color]

Hi there mommy's out there! im just new here at smart parenting...i just want to ask if anyone can help me if bear brand choco is best for my 2 yr old son? his 1st milk is enfalac lactose free since he has a colic then, then turns 6mos enfapro lactose free but in the middle of 8mos i change id to enfapro then pediasure up to 1 yr and 4mos. he still never gained weight so my pedia adviced enfagrow a+  alternate with bear brand chocco but when he turns 2 he doesnt like enfagrow anymore instead asking for bear brand chocco always, so id like to ask base on your experience mommy's out there if bear brand choco is best for a 2 year old boy as his milk supplement?thanks!

in my opinion, i really don't believe in formula milk. i think they're just sugar packed kaya nakakataba but actually you're just prepping your kid to obesity and diabetes. as much as possible, i don't give him processed food. that includes formula. kasi super daming process na dinaanan ng formula e. this is just my opinion ha.

my kid is almost 3 pero never sya nagformula milk. he started drinking fresh milk when he was 16mos yata. if you are worried about your kid not getting calcium, or any other nutrient, i'm pretty sure he can get it from other food. ex: cheese.

hi mommies..

honestly, based sa experience ko, si baby ang masusunod with the help of pedia niya. Progress Gold si eLa kaya lang sobrang lumobo na sya and at the same time expensive na rin yung milk na yun. So i decided to change her milk tutal she loves eating na rin naman. I tried Nido Jr., nung christmas kaya lang nagsusuka sya, ayaw niya yung milk, as per pedia niya, try ko daw lactum kasi yung nakasanayan nyang progress, malinamnam so buti naman ayun, nagustuhan niya yung Lactum.

My son turned 1 last week and after reading a lot from SP, I decided on Gain Plus Advance. Best milk daw ang GPA for brain development. Pricey lang sya, 1.8kg is P1270 sa SM. So far ok naman ang poop niya. Lumakas din ang milk intake niya, although the same ang solid intake niya but I have to blame that on his tooth, nagpapatubo na naman kase. ;)

Title: Re: What's your recommended formula milk brand for 1-3yo and why?
Post by: Lelen on May 10, 2011, 01:10:48 pm
^ say ng pedia ni baby, as long as hindi watery ang stool, ok lang daw na soft, at di naman nawawala ang sigla ni baby. Nung nag-enfapro a+ ikase sya, as is diarrhea talaga, kawawa naman kaya tinigil ko. Prior to that promil gold ang 1st try ko nung mag 6mos na sya since s26 gold sya nung 0-6mos, kaso nag constipate naman! Kaya after nun, lactose free muna sya.

i dont have problem with Promil Kid for my baby of o1 year and 3 months now. She began with Enfa series and when she turned one eh sa dami ng tinry namin for her she choose Promil Kid. Okay naman sa kanya so far. Ang napansin ko lang is pag nagpopo sya dapat nalalaman namin at palitan agad dahil if hindi napalitan agad nagrrashes na sya. Rashes na nagsusugat yung balat niya ha. Before when Enfa series sya d naman ganun. Well, i dont know if dahil sa milk niya tlaga yun. Di ko pa natanong yung pedia namin eh.

i am mix feeding my child since she started teething kasi super mangagat. and we've been using promil kasi yun yung recommended ni pedia. anyhow, my baby turned 1 recently and we switched to promil (1-3yo) however i can see na yung solid intake niya hindi talaga bumaba although she doesn't look sickly and all hindi rin siya mataba.

should i switch to another brand? and what brands are highly recommended? reasonable price as well

Promil Gold ang milk ng baby ko, since she's turning one next week, pagkaubos ng PG, Gain Plus Advance na ang buy ko. Sadly, hindi siya hiyang sa gold series ng wyeth...gusto ko pa naman na maging wyeth baby siya just like mama ;D  Nag heraclene nga siya for 1 month nung 7 months siya as per her new pedia nung time na yun, tapos palitan daw ng Gain milk niya if mahina padin dumede, ok naman after kaya hindi ko na pinalitan. Pero nung nag 11months siya pansin ko sobrang humina na talaga siya sa milk intake, worst than before. Dapat sa age niya 4-5 bottles ng 180ml per day, pero nakaka 2 lang siya, the most is 3 bottles. Although malakas siya sa solids even before taking heraclene, but need padin niya magmilk lalo na wala pa siyang 1 year old :'(

Based din sa computation ko sa magagastos namin in 31 days sa lahat ng milk, Progress Gold pinakamahal, next ang GPA, then Enfagrow A+, hindi ko lang nasama NAN HW kasi NAN Pro lang nakita ko. One of the cheapest din ang Nido Jr. kaya baka itry ko din kapag wala ng sponsor ng milk from my grannies ;D

Now my daughter Angela is taking Gain.Previously kasi she's in Nido 1+ for 1 month & half.

Siguro I'll let her stay with Gain na basta wag lang magbounce back ang rashes niya like before.

Hopefully, each mom here can find the best milk that they think for their baby..Na trauma din kasi ako sa anak ko shifting milks kasi she has a constipation issue before.

simplykristine08- i hope your baby will get well soon. marami talaga nagkakasakit due to the changes in the weather.

Eh sobrang hina nun for a 13month old baby diba.

^sis, 16 months. GPA and Grow milk na ininom niya when she turned one. Kanina watery yung stool niya but she's still active and happy. We'll observe until today before taking her to the pedia. It may not be caused by the milk. Mahilig na kasi dumampot ng stuff around her tapos susubo. Anyway, let your baby eat fruits if ayaw ng rice. Like my baby who doesn't like spaghetti. She likes carbonara, bread and fries (no salt). If she doesn't want rice, we give her fruits and oatmeal with milk.

Don't force your child to eat when he/she is not ready.............mas lalo kayong mahihirapan pagtagal tagal.

Start with cereals, biscuits, banana.............para lang matutong kumain.  They will start feeling hungry kasi nasasanay na sila sa solid at magaan sa tiyan ang milk.........then thats the time you introduce them to other solid food like spaghetti, chicken, lugaw, noodles and TAHO (make sure its clean).

And also NO SAGO PLS. for this will cause indigestion for kids.

As for my daughter's case:  dati hindi siya nag-gagain ng weight tapos may allergy sa milk at may lactose intolerance and constipated pa.

For kids with weight problem:   Pediasure is highly recommended to gain weight.
For kids with lactose intolerance:  Enfa milk with lacto-free is highly recommended.
For kids with allergies:  NAN HW/HA

For constipated kids:  Pediasure and EnfaGrow-Lacto free (experiment on the scoops kasi yun PediaSure medyo mabigat at nagwawatery ang poopoo or consult your Pedia on the measurement)

Or change his vits din. Now, Enzo is taking ceelin plus & cherifer (today lang ako nagstart nito) perior to that, provital w/ zinc. Good luck sis.

Nan3 HW cost more or less 870php for 900g...

To clear things up kasi i've read na may nagtatanong kung ano ang difference ng HW sa regular na gatas  ;D (from what I've researched and experienced)

HW milk are for babies that are allergic to cow and soy protein.Parents should not give their babies HW or SOY based milk unless advised by the child's pedia.

If your baby is not allergic to cow's milk or is not constipated to the extreme level, there is no reason to use HW milks. You'll end up upsetting your kid's tummy resulting in super-black-liquid-gross-smelling poop (ito nangyari sa baby ko when he's 2mos kasi medyo naconstipate sya sa Enfalac A+ at nagpanic ako so ito yung sabi ng pedia Similac HW.

Soy Milk naman is not really good for babies unless again when he's allergic to cow's milk, still those who are allergic to cow's milk can also be allergic to soy protein. It has little use as the primary source of infant feeding. Lactose, which is absent in soy formula, is the best carbohydrate source for normal infants. It has no cholesterol,  which is essential for the development of brain and nerve cells.

Just try and pick one of the cow milk protein-based preparations (unless your pediatrician recommends otherwise), then stick with it! Some parents switch formulas at the slightest indication of any problem. This generally makes matters worse.

My son uses Pedisaure Complete for a week na kasi na hospitalized sya, pneumonia, and refuse niya talaga kumain at magdede. Gamit niya nuon is Enfapro. So far naman sa Pediasure, na-gain agad niya yung nawala nyang timbang at lumakas sa pagkain naging bibo din, within 5days natuto sya mag-bulaga, bless at clap :) natutuwa talaga ako sa milk na to kasi sulit. He drinks Enfapro and Pediasure Complete ngayon.

joining....

Pediasure ba comes from Vanilla flavor only? kaya ko di na consider to kasi parang vanilla flavor lang nakikita ko....(may relative kasi kami who works for Abott) kaya panigurado ma leless presyo nito pag sakanya ko e rerequest :D

my baby was on similac hw for 9 months. pareho kasi kaming may asthma ng husband ko kaya hw ang nirecommend sa amin. we chose similac hw over nan hw kasi reitred employee ng abbott and father in law ko so super mura namin nakukuha ang milk. hindi nakakataba masyado ang similac hw.

we first tried to switch to gain advance plus when baby was 6 months old kaso she got constipated. pedia said it might be too rich pa for her so try again at 9 months. so we switched back to similac hw.

at 9 months, we tried gain advance plus again. pedia said if baby still gets constipated, add 1 oz of water. so ganyan ang gawa namin ngayon. 5oz of water with 2 scoops of gain. she's gaining weight na. pero ayaw ko naman ng sobrang taba so most likely at 1 year old, i will make her try fresh milk na.

Mag 1year old na sya sa sept.7, nagstart sya mag pedia last week pa. His pedia recommended it kasi kelangan talaga niya. For babies that are not getting enough nutrients yung pediasure.

my 4mos old baby is a nanhw drinker. pro uubusin nalang namin itong can niya then ill switch na to s26 gold. nakakabother kasi hindi tumataba si baby. from what i heard di daw talaga nakakataba ang nan hw. im apprehensive pa with the switching kasi pag lumipat daw ng formula tapos babalik sa nan hw(incase nagka-allergy) pahirapan na daw pagbalik. kaya goodluck to me!

0-6 mos. S-26,
6-12 mos. Gain
then yung panganay ko after 1 year old GainPlus then yung bunso ko PediaSure naman after nag-1 year, maganda din kasi gawa ng Abbott na mga milk kaya yung mga pamangkin namin S-26 at Gain na rin pero syempre need mong makita na hiyang kay baby, pag hindi naman try ng iba hanggang makita mong may improvement kay baby

^ gain advance plus is stage 2, for 6-12m. Gain plus advance is stage 3, for 1-3years old.

My baby is almost 10m old and she takes gain advance plus.

Newborn: Similac advance
6 mos. onwards : shifted to Gain plus advance but baby was consitipated
present : Progress gold (baby still constipated)

It's so hard to look for milk supplements that will not make him constipated :(

My daughter is turning 1 year old on the 22nd and we decided to switch her to Enfagrow from Enfapro A+. Almost 1.2k yung biggest can, cheaper pa din kase yung Enfapro A+ sa ganong price, yung nasa big box lang yon. Mukhang ok naman si Zoe sa Enfagrow, it's her 3rd day on it na.

my baby is 1yr 1month na, i started him at Enfalac A+ 0-6mos, Enfapro A+ 6-12mos and ngayon EnfagrowA+. di talaga sya tabain pero mabigat, siksik and matangkad, at di naging problema ang poop niya. malakas naman resistensya kaya we're content! mdyo pricey lang, he now consumes 1 big can per week. ;)

share ko lang sisses

kakagaling lang sa hospital ni meyer ko at sobrang bumaba timbang niya. i asked Meyer's pedia if we can switch her to pediasure muna para mabilis mabawi ang timbang niya. dami kasi ako nabasa dito sa SP na nakakataba raw kasi talaga ang Pediasure
i was surprise nun sinabi niya na we can give raw pediasure to meyer pero maximum of 2 timpla per day lang raw.. kumbaga pang add lang sa milk niya. currently Meyer's milk kasi is Promil kid.., pang support lang raw ang pediasure for babies na di pa na ri reach ang 3rd birthday....
si raw kasi maganda yung too much tamis sa mga bata..
so ginawa ko diko pa rin tinanggal yung promil kid.. tsaka mas gusto niya talaga yung Promil, sobrang tamis pala talaga ng Pediasure....

it's on the packaging, sis, whether the milk is suitable for your child's age.  as far as i can remember, we shifted to promil kid as soon as it was suitable to their age, i just can't remember if it was when they turned 1.

anyway, our pedia gave us the go signal to choose whatever milk to give when our kids turned one.

hi sis, promil kid din binigay namin kay baby when she turns 1, after ng bday niya nagkasakit sya napagod kasi tska nasobrahan sa chocolate.. ayaw magmilk and mag rice.. ang food lang na gusto niya yung gerber graduates and grape juice.. so bumagsak yung katawan niya.. but when she gets well.. nauubos niya na yung milk niya mabilis nakarecover yung katawan.. mabilis din ang development. sa tingin ko din mahaba ang attention span niya..

Mommies, ever heard of Quinoa? Here are the links:

mga sis help naman, kasi from birth to 6 month enfalac a+ na si baby ko.  Never siyang nagkasakit kahit nag i-sneeze sa harap niya ang pinsan niya.  Kahit may sakit din ang pinsan niya hinahalik halikan si baby and never talaga nahawa ang baby ko.

Now that 6 months na si baby, nagtry ako palitan siya ng milk to Nan Pro 2 kasi mura compare to Enfa series.

So far, susubukan pa din namin hanggang bukas.

actually depende eto sa kung ano hiyang ni baby. much better to ask your pedia. pag baby 1 year old below, kelangan maging mapili talaga tayo sa milk kasi milk is their main source of nutrients. but pag nag1 na sya at provided that they eat well, that is 3 full meal na, ang main source of nutrients na ay un solid foods. kaya mas maging concern tayo on what healthy foods we will serve them.

based on my experience naman, i have a 17-month old son. Gain Plus Advance talaga kami since six froms (from s26 gold). so far so good kasi he is healthy, he eats anything talaga and smart. what is good kasi sa Gain is hinde sya ganun katamis kaya naman un taste buds niya hinde masyado nallike ang sweets. actually he does not like choco drinks. he is more of yakult and yogurt. at his age, based sa RDA for 1-2 yrs old, 16-24 oz of milk plus 6 oz of juice lang kelangan then the rest should come from the solid foods.

I have a 15month old kid.. He's been using Alactagrow for 3mos na pero bigla nawalan ng stocks dito samin and kahit sa robinsons wala din. So pinalitan ko ng NAN Pro 3. He's been drinking it for 2days na.

Tinanong ko dati pedia niya kung maganda ba ang bonakid sabi niya wag daw yun kasi sobrang tamis mahihilig daw sa sweets si baby which is not good. I recommend Alactagrow maganda talaga sya, super bibo ni baby. For now wala pa ko masasabi sa Nan3 siguro after 2weeks pa makikita effect  :)

Similac, Gain for 6mos and Gain for 1yr old lahat ganun effect sa kanya pero tumataba naman. Sadya ba ganun ang poop pag gain ang gamit?

^ Bakit kaya ganun.

My daughter stopped drinking in feeding bottle nung two and a half years old sya. Then I decided na flavored milk un nga Lactum Choco pinainom ko. Then etong nag four years old sya, nakakatuwa nga kasi sya mismo nagsabi na ayaw na niya yung Choco. Sabi niya masarap daw yung gatas talaga... So ayun change ko sya from Lactum Choco to Lactum Plain na...

Yung anak ko, she likes veggies and fish tlaga.

Hi, I'm planning to switch my baby's milk from Enfagrow A+ to the cheaper one but it still has the quality nutrients. Enfa baby na xe ang anak ko ever since, but it's so expensive so I want to change it na. My hubby naman doesn't want to xe daw the nutrients are not the same that  we could get from Enfa A+. But we have to be wise and practical sa hirap ng buhay ngaun. ;) . But I still have to convince him that my decision could be right.

Is anybody here could help me what to choose the best but cheaper milk? Lactum 1-3 or Nido Jr? Nestogen, etc?
Suggestions guys? thanks much.  :-* :-* :-*

^well, as far as i know, children aged 1 yr up should be getting most of their nutrition from solids, milk is just for supplement. perhaps, your baby is teething kaya walang gana mag solids and mas prefer na mag milk lang? or better change you baby's milk gaw ng baka masyado na siyang nabubusog sa milk kaya wala ng gana mag-solids. you can actually opt to give fresh milk instead of formula milk if you want. dito lang naman kasi sa atin masyadong hyped up ang formula milks na kahit toddler na ang bata naka-formula milk pa rin. in other countries, when a child reaches a year old, they usually give fresh milk instead.

hello moms! i hope you can help me with this little problem of mine. well i have been trying to make my daughter drink formula milk since she turned 1 last june because i am going back to work soon. i tried progress gold and alacta grow but i think she does not like how it taste or smell? she refuses to drink after 1 sip. i also tried mixing chocolate flavored milk to formula milk and she still wont drink it. my MIL gave her fresh milk the other day and she allmost finished a glass! I am breastfeeding her until now but my milk supply is decreasing. I dont want to keep on buying milk that she wont drink naman kasi sayang talaga.

Do you know other milk brands that are slighty bland in taste? and does not have any weird smell? Is it okay for a 13 month old baby to drink fresh milk? I am worried that she may not get enough nutrients from it. I badly need your advise and suggestions. Thank you in advance!  :)

My daughter used to be constipated and under weight.  Problem solved when we combined Pediasure with Enfagrow Lacto free.  Problem with Pediasure - poopoo para mud and may amoy.

But if your baby is not a picky eater at lahat kinakain okay na rin kahit hindi na formula milk.

From Nan HW kasi to GPA sobrang walang hassle pero itong GPA to Nido Jr. medyo mahirap.

Advise sa akin ng friend ko on how to switch from formula milk to full cream milk.
Example:  Formula Milk 4 scoops for every 6ml water.
from 4 scoops formula make it 3 scoops formula + 1 scoop full cream milk
siguro after 2 weeks make it 2 scoops formula + 2 scoops full cream

My daughter is okay now with Grow 1-3. We switched from Nido Jr. Ayaw ng Lactum. We also tried Gain and Pediasure last time and nagustuhan niya yung taste but Grow is the more affordable choice.  ;D If ever hindi na okay next year when she turns 3, Gain School Advance na lang bigay namin. So far, Grow and Cherifer for the vitamins made her gain weight. Yung clothes that we need to buy for her ay for 4T na dapat. Yung 3T halos fit na sa kanya. She's 2 years and 5 months by the way. Her pedia checked her weight when we went for her meningo vaccine and bumigat siya.

GPA- ok nung una, then humina ulit si baby after a few months
1 can lang si baby, after a few days stop na dahil super constipated.

Hi mommies, in a few weeks time, 1 year old na si baby. And magpapalit na kami ng gatas niya. Wyeth baby siya, S26, then Promil. This time, I wanted to try yung mas murang gatas on her, since I'm still breastfeeding her, support lang talaga ang formula milk since I am a working mother.

I've been checkin on the labels of milks for 1-3 years old, and I saw na halos lahat naman ay okay. I've been reading reviews on Nido Jr na maganda daw, any feedbacks?

I tried to compare Bonakid and Promil Kid, and I was amazed to see na almost pareho lang sila --- the difference that I saw is the number per vits/minerals. For example - per 100g - 400 sa Promil Kid then 387 sa Bonakid (example lang po, not the exact figure)

Ganyan lang ng ganyan, meron higher sa Promil Kid, and lesser sa Bonakid ng 1 to 5 (omg, i dunno the unit og measurement, please bear with me) and vice versa. Naisip ko lang, baka in the end maccancel out lang yun and lalabas na same lang pala sila.

Now, I am torn... ano nga kaya ang okay na gatas an ipatry? :) Looking for your feedbacks mga mommies! TIA!

^True sis. Enfa series kase is really high in DHA. My daughter din as early as 1 year old marunong na mag-keep ng toys, mautusan kumuha ng remote and other small things, and conversant kahit hinde pa masyado naiintihan. Now super rapid talaga ng speech development niya. She remembers names so well too kahit sa phone pics niya lang nakikita.

Hi mga mommies!  One year old na si baby but I'm still breastfeeding.  Right now, the pedia recommended for us to use Gain Plus Advance. I'm thinking of going back to Nido since breastfed naman si baby sa gabi pag uwi ko from work.  What do you think mga mommies? :-\

enfa A+ series din ang bunso ko since birth (plus breastmilk til 9mos+).. now that he's 20mos old enfagrow A+ pa din. hiyang naman siya dun. mabilis nga ang development niya sa pakikipag communicate compared with his kuya before. ngayon para na kasi siyang malaking bata kung umasta. sobrang napagkakatuwaan talaga namin siya ngayon sa house. so far gusto ko siya enfa til before siya mag 3yo.  ;)

Sabi ng pedia ko ok daw kahit anong milk na pang 1-3 years old.  Di siya nagrerecommend ng brand.  Basta hiyang daw ni baby and dapat more on solids si baby. Gusto niya more on fruits, vegetables, fish, rice, kamote. Thanks!  :-\

My baby's pediatric is a pro-breastfeeding one and she told me to continue breastfeeding my 16months old baby Kung breastfed pa daw siya. All those milk claiming high levels of DHA ARA brain building immunity builders DO NOT compare to the levels of breastmilk daw. Breastmilk has living cells that actually fight infection so to mommies still breastfeeding, you are doing the best daw. Bait ng pedia ko noh? :-) That's why up to now only breastmilk ang milk ng baby ko. :-)

That's my pedias recommendation for the small scoop included in the package.

However this past few days na-lessen na intake niya. Nutrients-wise pediasure talaga the best kasi I've read somewhere that the choline content should be considered in choosing formula for our babies.

^Thanks sis.:)

Nagstart na transitioning ni baby. 4th day na today. So far so good naman.:) She likes the taste. Lagi niyang ubos and 4x a day na siyang magmilk. Pero may option naman ako if ever and that is GPA. Pero consult ko pa din pedia niya sa next check up niya on january. :) Though yung sa poop is 1-2x a day and medyo basa.

My daughter isnt chubby, she's quite tall for her age (3'2.5 at 2 years and 2 months) and siksik (16.7 kgs). But I attribute this to the fact that she eats well kase. She eats rice on every meal and hinde ko din pinapakain ng junk food. Malakas sya mag-milk lang at night.

Hi mommies. She's into Gain Plus Adv. Like last month bumili na agad nanay ko ng 4cans for 2months consumption niya napo un.

Hi sis. I have a 2 year old daughter and her milk is progress gold by wyeth.  medyo pricey lang siya compared to other milk brands. Pero sis sobrang worth it talaga.

Good luck =)

my son is now 27 months. i stopped breastfeeding when he was 23months kasi may kasunod na. when i was breastfeeding, i tried na -mixed-feeding sya pero nahirapan kame kasi ayaw niya talaga ng formula. good thing when we started weaning him at 23 months, ang bilis lang ng transition niya. first we tried nido 1+. peo ayaw niya, sobra konti n naiinom niya. we switched to Lactum 1-3. so far nakakaubos sya ng 3-4 oz bottles of milk per day. good for 2 weeks lang din yung isang lata.
problema din namin yung appetite niya. dati kasi kahit ano isubo mo kakainin, pero when he turned 2 years old, parang nag-umpisa na mamili. though normal pa naman yung weight niya for his age (he's currently 13.5 kg), our pedia recommended na ibahin yung vitamins niya. since last month he is taking appebon kid. medyo lumalakas na sya kumain lately.

Hi mommy louise.. As for her vitamins naman, hindi niya kapid appebon. Nagtatae sya. Kaya im planning to buy another vits na nirecommend talaga pedia niya which is mosegor vita syrup..

out of topic na. hehe. anyway, kung libre naman at maganda effect sa kanya, why not continue giving her the same milk.   ;D

Instead nido why not try alactagrow daw.

Hi mommies, my baby's using Enfapro A+ and since he'll be 1 year this week I started introducing him Enfagrow A+ two days ago but the problem was he didn't like it.  :( At first, I thought it was just a normal reaction and would just eventually like it later, pero hindi eh... he'd rather drink water than the milk! so kawawa :'( So I decided to give him back the Enfapro A+ for the meantime while I am still looking for the best milk for him. This evening I tried giving him another milk, Bonnakid thinking he might like it but the reaction was still the same... I don't know if this is just a common reaction for a 1 year old or what.  He used to have s26 when he was 0-6mos and remembered giving him Promil at 6 mos but at that time he was loosing stool and the pedia recommended us to give him the Enfapro (lactose free) for a month and then A+. I badly need help mommies :-\

first of all, i agree with chardonnay, please edit the title of the post.
second, maybe you can try giving him fresh milk. source of nutrition for children aged 1 year and above should be coming mostly from solids na naman, milk is just a supplement. hindi naman necessary na formula milk ang ibigay kung ayaw. kung ayaw kahit fresh milk, maybe you can try yoghurt drinks. milk is just a convenient source of calcium naman that he can get elsewhere.

Hello mommy Avemaria! Sabi niya when changing milk, ang solution ay ganito:1-2 day  3/4 ay yung nakasanayang milk, then 1/4 yung bago.  3-4 day 1/2 yung nkasanayan, 1/2 yung bago, 5-6 day 1/4 yung nakasanayan, 3/4 yung bago. hanggang yung bagong milk na lang ang tinitimpla mo. di daw kasi basta basta binibigla sa lasa ang mga bata. So, try mo. Sa akin tried and proven effective cia.  ;)

Tama si happymemom! When changing milk dapat gradual ang introduction ng new milk... Sometimes din you do not have to follow the ratio as instructed by the milk can.  What I did with my son mas maliit ang scoops ng milk kaysa what is indicated.  Sinuka kasi niya kung exact yung milk and water... And yes you can substitute milk with others like yogurt or fresh milk... in my experience, my first son rely more on milk than solid food and I did not force him on the solid food, like 2x a day lang.  ngyon at 4 years old, two glasses of milk nalang then eats 3x a day na.  for my second son, at 2 years old he can eat three meals a day then 1-2 glasses of milk a day at the same time he still drinks milk from me.

I have tried that with my first son and he was okay with it.

Mommy avemaria, my son's milk na bagay sa kanya is progress gold then to promil.  i don't follow the ratio of water and amount of milk.  mas less milk ko kasi ayaw din ng matamis na milk yung anak ko.

Hope that helps!

pag nag 1 year na si baby, we mommies can choose without consulting our pedia as long as walang history ng milk allergy si baby.

Ako naman sa Nido ko ni switch ang 17 mos old ko and in a month mukang nag gain na sya :) sana mag tuloy tuloy na.

My son is now 2 1/2 yrs old since nag 1 1/2 yrs old sya he's drinking Lactum 1-3 vanilla then last week i tried to change his milk to Nido Jr 1-3 medyo hindi sya hiyang kaya balik ulit kame sa Lactum 1-3. What i understand here is mas magana sya kumaen sa Lactum at mas tumataba sya.  Kaya nagsisisi pa me nung pinalitan ko medyo pumayat kasi eh.

Dear moms,

As a newbie mom, what is the best recommended milk that nearest nutrition to a breast feed? My son won 't even tried breast feeding since birth. My Pedia recommended NAN HA ONE from 0-6 months si baby since allegenic siya. Then from 6-12 mos we switch to NAN HW TWO and now na turning one siya this sept. I 'am searching for a higher DHA, nutritious milk para kay baby. Any piece of advice for those mom who already experience for choosing best milk for babies especially for babies na hindi naka experience sa breast feeding. Wish to hear from you guys! Thank you.

I know that here in the Philippines drinking (branded milk) is important, but I noticed in America or even other countries, after turning 1, they give them fresh milk already and let them drink it in sippy cups or straw cups. I was just wondering my son is already turning 2  and he drinks milk  A LOT!, he drinks enfagrow A+ btw,  he drinks about 4-5 bottles of milk everyday and that doesn't include night bottles. I just really need a good and sound advice on what milk to use. Buying enfagrow a+ everyweek is getting too expensive!

Thank you!!!

Hi mommies, baby ko nung newborn, enfalac, then nung 6mos enfapro. Pero nagswitch na kami kasi medyo mahal. We tried bonna kaya lang matigas poops niya. Tingnan pa namin ang development niya using pediasure, kasi may study din ginagawa pedia niya for kids with low appetite and yung paggamit nga ng milk na yun.

My pedia recommended pediaure for my daughter since she turned 1. Then siguro mga 4 or 5 months ago, i asked her pedia kung pediasure pa rin milk niya and she said na yes pero if i want daw i can give her 2 glasses of pediasure then 1 glass gain. So nung pinacheck up namin si baby i asked kung anong pwedeng ipalit sa gain if okay ang progress and she said yes. So we bought progress pero she doesnt like din. Naka 1 bottle lang sya. Then i tried lactum choco and ayun nagustuhan niya. kaya 2 glasses pediasure na sya and 1 glass lactum choco. She also drinks fresh milk. Di naman picky eater baby ko kaso minsan ayaw niya kumain kasi nailalaro niya. As in minsan 2 subo lang then play na sya. She also eats fruits and veggies. Super active baby din kasi talaga sya. She's 2 years old and she's 10.8 kilos.

You really can not get recommendation, dapat po itry ninyo each brand until your baby settles for what he likes.

Progress GOLD. Sucrose free. Now with a HIGHER DHA, Choline & Lutein. DHA for learning. Choline for memory. Lutein for an eye development which is di mo makikita sa ibang milk, product lang ng Wyeth meron nito. But it's better to ask your pedia & it depends on your Baby whether she/he's compatible with.

We have been trying so hard to switch him to formula we have tried feeding him Lactum, Nido, and now because he liked the taste of the bearbrand I was drinking one time we tried Bear brand Junior but to no avail. He would drink an ounce or two but after that he would leave it. And also he is a little bit underweight so what can you suggest we let him drink? please help mommies. Thank you.

Hi mommies,

My daughter is 2 years & 3 months old now, we used to give her Enfalac / Enfagrow since I stop breastfeeding her until she turns 1 year old we notice that she became constipated so, we decided to switch to Lactum, same manufacturer with Enfagrow. She also like it, but still she is constipated until now. Her Pedia said to us we should have the trial & error with the milks in the market.
So, me & my husband tried to buy Bonna kid yesterday, as of now she wants to drink Bonna, & she poops twice today & its not that hard but Im worried b'coz she poops twice with soft texture.

Mommies, do you use Bonna kid before or until now? what was your experience with it? Wanna know some reviews about it.
Or do you have any suggested brand of milk that cannot cause constipation for my child.

Thank you Mommies.  :)

Hello Mommy Lovely Gamay..

According to our pedia, Once or twice poops daily is normal as long as hndi watery. I also have an experience with bonna with my son. He used to drink bonnamil for how many months but time comes na hindi na niya kaya ididest yong bonnamil, so we switch to different milk. Nag trial and error din kami becoz from that time naging masyadong sensetive yung tummy ni baby, only to find out na may lactose intolerance pala sya. But now, he's fine. Hope mommy your baby will be fine too. :-)

hi mommies im new here! i have a daughter,  she turned one last wk, ganun ba talaga humina siya mag gatas, nung una, enfagrow a+ kaya lang sapilitan ko pinapainom, nakakainom lang siya pag tulog. then her pedia recommend gain plus advance, kaso same pa din, medyo mahirap din pakainin, gusto laro and lakad. madalas napapanisan ng gatas. ano po ba magandang gawin?

@Mommy kelly,
Kung masigla naman po ang bata, I don't think you should worry. Kung nakakakain na siya ng solids and good liquid intake at may vitamin supplement pa, I think she'll be ok.
Try mixing the milk with flavors like strawberry or chocolate syrup, para maiba ang lasa.

0-6 months - Nan HW1
6-12 months - Nan Optipro 2
1 year - tried Nido Jr for a month.  I heard good feedback and cheaper - no go - super kabag and constipated si baby. Nag-gamot pa kami ng relestal and lactulose plus 2 weeks of Nan AL 110 lactose free.  After medication, hope everything's okay once we go back to Nan Optipro 3

Mommty Vicky, I recommend switching to a brand na hindi matamis para hindi siya masanay o makahiligan ang matamis, which could lead to a habit na makakasama in the future.

Brands I know na hindi matamis are the regular Bear Brand, Anchor and Birch Tree, even Alaska pero hindi kasing dami ang nutrition tulad ng Nido. There are other brands na halos kapareho or maybe mas madami pa ang nutrition than Nido pero matamis naman.

Buy muna the smallest size habang nasa trial period kayo. Do let us know here kung anong nagustuhan niya.

^ If marami pang brestmilk ang napoproduce mo, i suggest don't stop breastfeeding your baby. It's the BEST milk for your baby.

Most pedia encourage breastfeeding and they will not advice na magformula.

Hey, parents! I have a question. Do you know the product Nido Junior Organic? I am a student conducting a research on the said product and would love to hear your thoughts about it. I created a survey to know how much parents are aware of the milk formula. Answering it would only take less than 5 minutes. Would appreciate a response. Thank you so much po!

My 1 yr old and 5 months Nido na since nag 1 sya. All of a sudden everytime na mag drink ng milk, nag pupoop sya. Tapos after 2 weeks on lactose free, binalik ko ulit sa Nido as suggestion ng pedia. Ngayon bumalik din yung poop nyang watery every milk bottle is consumed. Any suggestions? Naexperience nyo din ba to? What did you do? Thanks mga mommies
