as advised by my baby's pedia, alcohol na 70% lang ang ilalagay on a daily basis. Natakot kami so we brought her sa pedia niya at yon nga, put alcohol (70%) on a daily basis, nothing more.

sabi ng pedia... twice or thrice a day dapat punasan ng cotton ang pusod ng 70 % alcohol... madali ding ntuyo ang pusod niya... tinanggal n nga nla kaagad yung clip wen we went out of the hospital.. that was 2 days after giving birth... so la pang 1 week tuyo na ang pusod niya... wag n wag daw hahawakan ang pusod using yung hands.. kc mdali daw maiinfect un.. tpos bigkis mo muna sya para d lagi kabagin or hnd lumuwa ang pusod..

Post by: yshaleigh on October 06, 2008, 08:33:03 am

alcohol lang sis,2-3 times a day..madali matuyo yung sugat..wala pa one week, tanggal na yung pusod. ;)
Title: Re: umbilical cord care/pusod /belly button
Post by: prhea on October 06, 2008, 01:46:47 pm

Title: Re: umbilical cord care/pusod /belly button

mommy eaglesoar

I agree with tiny_yabbi, just wait for it to fall off and when it does, apply alcohol on a regular basis. It's also different for all children so I don't think it's a cause of concern that your baby is two weeks old and it hasn't come off.

hi mga sis. 9th day of life nagfall-off yung umbilical stump ni baby. Cotton buds with alcohol  pinanlinis ko as taught by our pedia doc who specializes in infectious diseases. Heheh. So yun ginaya ko. Ok, ok.

Yung pangatlo namin on her 6th day nagulat kami kasi natanggal na ng kusa yung pusod. Thing is may naiwan pala, and one time may dugo dun sa shirt niya katapat ng pusod then may nakalabas na parang laman.

mommycynthia Yes sis. Bale nagpapatuyo pa yung pusod ni baby nun. Experienced that with our third child, nung una pa mangyari yun ilang weeks pa lang siya kaya napasugod kami ng ER kasi yung sa kanya may naiwang laman kaya akala ko intestines niya yun, buti na lang hindi. Basta ang signs lang na kailangan mo siya dalhin sa doctor according to the pedia surgeon we talked to:
- marami masyado yung dugo

I agree. Hindi advisable ang pagamit ng bigkis. My baby's pedia also told me that.

Hi folks,

Our 12 day old daughters belly button stump has fallen off as advised.
Our Pedia has advised us to clean the remaining healing belly button, inside and out, using cotton buds and 70% alcohol spray 3 x daily.

However, we notice after cleaning some dried blood on the tip of the belly button. We are assuming there must be a small amount of bleeding after the inside clean.

Iím guessing this is normal while the belly button heals.

However, I donít understand how it can heal quickly if we are cleaning it outside, and particularly inside, 3 times daily? ?

How did you look after your babies belly button after the stump fell off?

Cheers 😀
