Mine is BPI, every year kami waived. I think they have min amount per month or in yr yung magagamit mo sa card for them to waive. In our case, our regular a month is 15-25k (except the SIPs) and full payment kami every month so I think kaya lagi kame nwwaive. U may inquire wd them re: min amount.

I had mine waived. BPI yun. I never used it. On the 3rd year na hindi ko pa rin nagagamit, pinapawaive ko ulit yung annual and I was told na hindi na daw pwede. It took several calls and it has to be taken to their supervisor (or someone) to be decided on. Eventually napa waive ko rin. After that pina cut ko na. Of course they discouraged me and mentioned perks, benefits, offers and the disadvantage of having it cut.

Yes... both citibank and HSBC. Pero may mga conditions.

For Citibank, pinag-enroll nila kami ng isang bill sa kanila. So kinuha namen yung pinakamaliit na bill - sky cable. :)
For HSBC, 2 kasi yung cards ng mister ko, for the first one, ayaw nila i-waive kasi daw hindi naman daw namen nagamit. For the second one, sabe nila ang kaya lang daw nila i-waive is half pero since may points yung husband ko, tinanong namen kung pwede gamitin yung hsbc points pambayad ng annual fee, Ok naman. Hindi ko lang alam kung how much yung points at how much yung annual fee kasi gold membership ata yun.

that was my mistake.  I had forgotten about my points and it expired just a month ago. It was over 25k. I lost track of it due to the whole ber hoopla.  Well Ive only inquired kanina. No other option was given to me kahit 50 pecent off.  I do pay on time and have used it actively.  I have over a 100k credit limit and its my only card. Kainis lang I guess I can keep them for another year pero its those little perks of waived annual fee that gets me going to keep this card. hehe nagair out lang.

Here's one:

keep available at least 30 percent of your credit limit, just so you can keep your money in check.

For those in deep debt, you might need to read this:

Title: Re: Tips please on managing credit card use

Monitor your cut-off dates...let's say every 24th of the month ang cut-off mo, evey after the 24th ka magpurchase ulit para at least next billing na ulit ang bayad, at hindi papasok sa next month's bill. :)

Another thing: Enroll your Credit card bill/statement online para at least madali mo mamonitor yung nachcharge sayo, and in case of disputes, makikita ko na sila agad and you will be able to report it right away. Convenient din, and go for paperless billing to help save the environment! :D

Pay your credit cards in full and on time.  Pwede rin naman na yung minimum amount, depending on how much will be the interest but make sure na kaya bayaran in full the next month.

Keep track din of your credit card expenses para aware ka if kaya mo pa bayaran in full ang amount or kung lumalampas ka na sa limit mo.

On installments, have 1 installment purchase at a time, wag pagsabay sabayin na madaming binabayaran na installments, lalo na if aware ka na compulsive buyer ka kasi baka may mabili kang iba pa habang hindi pa tapos ang pagbayad ng installments mo.  It will add up pa sa babayaran mo.

Do not bring credit cards kung hindi naman kelangan.  If may cash, yun ang gamitin lalo na for small purchases.

:)

Huwag mag-cash advance. Aside from the interest, it also has additional charge ranging from 300 - 500 defending on the bank per withdrawal. What I did after receiving the Cash Advance PIN is I shred it to pieces. until now, we haven;t use the service yet.

Do not bring credit cards unless necessary. If going out on a Mall sale, don't bring your plastics. You will end up spending more than you plan too thinking that you save more.

Always pay in full. If you cannot, grab bank's paylite options so it won't earn interest.

I ususally do this, a month before my credit card anniversary, I will call the bank to request for cancellation. The bank's representative will offer you to waive the annual fee for another year. This always works for me.

Nakakatuwa kasi pag bago yung card. But then pagdating ng bills, mapapag-isip ka talaga. Good thing my hubby works in one of the major credit card Companies, he is required to pay in full. Bawal silang mag partial payment (internal term: revolver). They are classified as transactors as an employee.

Make sure to have a good reputation to your bank. Hindi mo alam kung kelan mo sila magagamit in their fullest. 3 years ago, when my lola got hospitalized and the bill went high as 300K (na-ICU kasi si lola ko), we were able to use our credit card. Our limit is not this high. Sobrang liit lang. But due to good credit standing, I called my bank for emergency increase. Though they did not increase it to 300K but at least enough to cover the remaining balance that we need to pay. They called the hospital's cashier and made manual approval.

Ngayon 3% or 500, whichever is higher. Payable in  month lang yun sis no? After a month and di mo nasettle, me interest na rin?
Title: Re: Tips please on managing credit card use
Post by: goodmornin on March 03, 2012, 11:15:31 pm
we only use our credit card kung sure kame na may pambayad kame na cash...so we dont have to bring the money. tapos bayad kaagad sa bank... we dont use it for installment purchases, kase ibig sabihin we dont have the capacity to buy it, to prevent na maging habit mag swipe! hehe

i rarely pay for the annual fee. but lately banks are more strict. i just follow the reqts (4k purchase) so i can keep the card..or i make a threat to close my account..cacancel din nila yung annual fee hehe

Sa citi, hsbc, rcbc, bpi, metrobank nakakapagpa-waive. Ayoko sa unionbank and bdo. Ayaw nila magpawaive. So eto nalang ginagamit ko for online purchases.

Title: Credit card application question
Post by: jeuno on March 15, 2012, 08:26:09 pm
Hi mommies, I have a question regarding credit card application. Hubby had a credit card last 2007 (before we got marries) and had debt that he wasn't able to pay. He used the cc up until early 2008 if he remember it right. Now, I am planning to apply for my credit card, and my problem is I have a feeling that I will get decline because of hubby's debt. We got married last July2011, do you think it will affect my application? TIA.

ay nako BDO never waived mine - classic nga lang card ko, kahit na i have lots of purchases with them, i had to use my rewards points para sa annual. i just keep this card for sentimental value (1st card haha) and yung online purchases (ito na kasi nakaregister sa paypal ko) pero sa annual fee hay naku- ayun nakamonthly membership yun sakin now 125.00 per month.

Title: Credit Card Details
Post by: MommyPhie on April 25, 2012, 11:48:56 pm
Hello po, I sent an email sa Credicard company ko kasi may pina-follow up ako na request. Then nagreply naman agad sila kaso to assist me they need to verify some details, like complete name, address, birthday, mothers maiden name, mobile # at credit limit. Ok lang ba to give all that details thru email? currently wala ako sa Pinas so yun lang yung nakikita ko way to communicate my request with them. Safe po kaya yun? Di kaya gamitin nila yung details na yun to use my credit card for their own purpose? the email address that I used is yung naka-apprear sa credit card ko.

Another question... pwede ko ba sila tawagan using their domestic toll-free no.? ano ba ibig sabihin ng domestic toll-free will I be charge of a long distance call?

pls enlighten me  :-\ salamt po.

Just to answer some queries here:

Is it safe to give your personal details on your email to the credit card company?
Yes. As long as you are sure that it's their valid email address. If they're not asking for the last three digits at the back of your card then they could not use it for online purchases.

Is it free to call their domestic-toll-free number?
Yes, that's why it's called free. No long distance charges will be charged from you.

Will I be declined on my credit card application if my spouse mishandles his/her credit line?
No. Unless you are the supplementary card holder, then you will be affected if your spouse is unable to pay the card. Mommy france is correct. They don't require your spouse's info when applying for a card.

In order for your card to get waived, you should have been using and paying it on time. You just have to call them and ask for waiver on the annual fee.

Madali lang yung kasi you;ll share the same limit.

Also Eastwest kasi maliit alng ang interest.
Although wala kaming bagong eastwest. Na-deactivate kasi nung pinapa-waive naman yung annual.

How true is it na walang nakukulong sa utang sa CC..
I have a friend whos having a hard time talaga, her debt was around 50k but cannot afford to pay her CC anymore, nagkasabay sabay kase, so her point is shempre mas uunahin nalang niya muna yung mga needs ng anak niya.
Marami daw nagsasabi sa kanya na ok lang takbuhan dahil wala naman daw nakukulong, kaya lang ngaun natatakot sya.. naawa talga ako.. wala akon idea eh so wala akong maibigay na advice..what do you thing mga mommies? meron ba ditong di na nakabayad ng CC nila? how was your experiens?
Title: Re: All About Credit Cards

^^^ Sa tingin ko wala ngang nakukulong, like my father in law he owned Citybank CC sabi ng husband ko halos lahat daw ng gastos nila CC ang gamit nila esp sa grocery. No budget talaga! He died last year @ 59 for around 15 years sya kinukulit.
Title: Re: All About Credit Cards
Post by: Mommy France on May 14, 2012, 05:14:44 pm
Title: Re: All About Credit Cards
Post by: mariann on May 14, 2012, 10:14:58 pm
i work in a bank and i've seen cases against credit card debtors.  wala ngang nakukulong pero nasisira naman ang pangalan.  and yes, they are really filing cases even if the debt is just P50,000.

hubby's a lawyer and also a retainer of some lending companies,  actually cc companies can send demand letters to you if you don't pay,  and they can file a case against you without spending much on their lawyers because they have retainers.

just imagine this, if you can't pay, they send demand letters, they call you everyday, and worst if they file a case, lalabas ang pangalan mo sa lahat nga banko na may case sila against you.

i just don't know what their basis is para mag-file ng case because meron naman ibang hindi na sila nagfa-file.

Title: Re: All About Credit Cards

moral of the story, huwag mangutang if hindi marunong magbayad.

Huwag magcredit card if walang sure income na ipambabayad.

Kasi ginamit mo naman yung assets nung bank, nagenjoy ka gumastos then if you cant settle takbo nalang? Hayy.

Oh well. A few years back, I discovered my mom was drowning in credit card debt. She is a dentist but a single mom of 3 and nagulat ako na all her cards are almost maxxed out. What happened? Kasi she was always paying the minimum amount due - which was that time sa statement yung naka bigbold letters vs the total amount due. I fixed her financial assets by consolidating her cc debt (bank loan, balance transfer and religiously paying MORE than the minimum) and thank god by august next year she is cc debt free!

Imagine yun total amount due niya back in 2010 ay mga swipes pa niya nung highschool ako... And I graduated highschool in 2004... So dami nang tinubo ng cards sakanya. But I am proud of her kasi she never chose na takbuhan. Plus may chance na mainclude ka sa black lists ng banks so if she needs to apply for a like housing or car loan or any loan in a private or govt owned company madedeny. So sa may mga cc debt dyan, budget budget lang, eventually matatapos nyo yan, diskarte lang with budgeting and never spend beyond your means.

Ako sinusumpa ko na ang credit card! Lol

^Payment will still be with your bank. And usually if 1 month delay ka lang sa payment, it will be the bank's collection department who will handle it not the third party agency. BTW, if history shows na you're a good payer naman prior to the delay, you can talk to the collections officer if they can still waive your late payment charges. Sayang din kasi if ma tag ka na deliquent because of that one month delayed payment.

Up till now I wasnt able to pay kasi I got scared with the agency. Now I dont know where to pay if I resume to settle out my card. This is BDO. BDO pa naman and always madaming tao. Thanks sa help po

I used to work for a bank.

There are so many reasons why that happened.  It's best to talk to your credit card company.

Recently lang nakausap ako ng officemate ko and she said na kakailanganin ko din daw to in the future and malaki rin daw ang use niya.

Baka pwede naman po kayo share ng tips, do's and dont's pati po kung anong best na Credit Card ang nagamit nyo.

its ok to have credit cards as long na you can pay what you use, and dapat malakas control mo sa pag gastos, once kasi na may credit card ka na, super lakas ng temptation to buy and buy since its just a swipe away...if you'll use your credit card make sure to pay before the deadline and as much as possible pay in full kasi sayang yung mga interest once na madelay ka ng payment ...useful ang credit card lalo na incase of emergency kasi tinatanggap na din ang credit card kahit sa mga hospitals...bata use it wisely, pay ontime and walang magiging problem dun :)

kung my cash ka naman, no need to apply credit card. kapag first time mo kasing magkaron ma tetempt at matetempt kang gamitin. before i have 4 credit cards pero pinaclose ko na lahat kc sayang yng interes. just in case na you want it talaga. think twice before swiping hehe. bout yung ano yng magandang credit card BDO is ok.

as long as you pay in full and on time, you'll be fine.  and although it's called a credit card, remember to use it only for convenience and never for credit.  ;)

Only use your CC during times when:
   2. it's safer to charge than to bring cash (mahal or malaki masyado ang amount at delikada
       magbitbit ng cash)

- ALWAYS treat your CC as "cash" (meaning, charge based on your capacity to pay)

- ALWAYS pay on or before the due date

- ALWAYS pay the full amount due

- Ask for options to waive annual fees, if any (some cards offers free annual fee for life... as long as you can maintain a minimum required spending per month)

Hi Mommies!

My husband is planning to apply for a credit card since he's a regular employee na for a year. San ba pwedeng makapag-apply na bank  with 10,000/mo gross salary? We want to have one kasi for emergency purposes kahit mababa lang ang limit, atleast anytime na may emergency may magagamit kami. And what are the requirements? Hope you can help me with this mga mommies. TIA!

My Metrobank ccard didnt waive my annual membership fee this year.  :(
I had to use my points to pay for the half of the fee then the other half i have to pay it. I was quite disappointed because i regularly use my card and its limit is kinda high na.

So i called them kanina to cancel my ccard, then i was offered the M free Mastercard which has a waived annual membership fee for life  ;D

New ccard will be issued within 2-3 weeks daw. I'll see if okay sya. If not, cancel ko na lang talaga. I now prefer to pay in cash kasi parehas kami magastos ni hubby. Para matuto kaming magtipid. Hehe!

My father's credit card is RCBC. Yearly pagtaas ng credit limit sabay ng pagtaas ng annual fee. Now, 3k na ang annual fee nila. Ayaw naman i-waived. Nakakainis. Kaya no choice talaga.

Question basta ba I pay the TOTAL AMOUNT DUE in my CC statement, hindi ako ma-charge ng Finance Charge?
I just got a new CC and I vowed to take care of it... I had a very bad credit card  usage 7 years ago and ayoko na maulit yun....

A friend is already being summoned for not paying her CC. HIndi niya talaga kayang bayaran. May nakukulong ba sa utang? What if hindi talaga mabayaran?

@Mommyjazz: According to my tita (who's been having bad debts since I was in college), wala daw unless you issue cheques na hindi funded as payment. She's still free so I guess she's right :-\ Yun nga lang, sarili mong konsensya lang siguro kalaban mo dyan and nakakaparanoid din na may iniisip kang utang na umabot sa summon level. :(
