HI mommies,
   Share naman po anong  diet food po para sa meron  gestational diabetes. Wala po ako maisip na menu.

Cinnamon Roll - sounds odd, pero true nakaka regulate ng blood sugar and cinnamon.
Wheat Bread and Tuna
Anything rich in fiber.

Wala ako masyado alam sa recipes eh. Ang alam ko lang ano dapat iwasan.

   Share naman po anong  diet food po para sa meron  gestational diabetes. Wala po ako maisip na menu.


I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant. I will share yung mga food na suggested nang endo ko. No to full milk as in wala ako milk intake that time. Watch your carb intake. Bawasan ang rice, bread and pasta. Noon as in nag stick ako sa one cup per meal lang.

sis as  per my endo, 5 x a day yung kain pero small meals lang, i still eat rice,(brown rice instead) pero half cup lang then plenty of veggies, less meat. i only eat fish and chicken minsan lang uyung pork.. also yung to exercise [pero yung mild lang like walking, basta need ko noon pagpawisan , hindi kasi dapat lumagpas sa weight si baby sa loob ng tummy or else baka ma-CS k.eventually before i give birth bumaba naman sugar ko... hope that helps. goodluck mommy!

I had gestational diabetes, nagworry si doc kaya strict diet ako.

Brown rice, wheat bread kapag feel ko ng tinapay, green veggies, hindi muna ako nag fruits kahit juice (except banana) dahil madaming fruits ang mataas ang sugar content, pag pasta naman make sure na yung bibilhin mo e made from durum wheat and not flour, wala naman akong problema sa meat kahit ano ok.

any pasta dishes as long as durum wheat yung pasta
fresh tomatoes nalang ginagamit ko when in need of tomato sauce kasi mataas ang sugar content nung mga naka-can
grilled, baked or panfried meat paired with brown rice with kangkong or talbos on the side
fish is good pero wag madalas ang salmon and tuna (once a week) kasi medyo high ang mercury nila
NO softdrinks
wala din akong cookies and biscuits pero pwede yung oatmeal cookies
oats for breakfast
If you can afford it sa Rustans or healthy options marami kang mapapamilian.

Small meals pero madalas. Eto yung phase na natuto akong kumain ng salad when eating out para hindi ako masyadong kill-joy.

Don't worry pag labas naman ni baby mawawala yan. Ingat lang kasi baka sobrang lumaki si baby. Sa case ko biglang lumaki si baby inside kaya change in diet. Infact I even bought yung strip na nagme-measure ng sugar sa urine. It was difficult for me pero thank goodness hindi naman ginormous si baby pero nagkaproblema sya sandali kaya dinala sya sa NICU. Biglang naglow-blood sugar sya few hours paglabas sa akin. Since aware na yung staff about my gestational diabetes they tested his blood sugar regularly. Effect daw yun nung diabetes ko. They just gave him a formula tapos nung ok na sya binalik na sya sa akin at breast feeding na.

Thanks for your reply. need ko kc 1900 kcal a day / 3 meals , 3 snacks. Mahirap maging food concious. 10 weeks pregnant pa lang ako, pero nagmomonitor na ako ng blood sugar ko and sundin ang diet.

Hi mga sis i just wanna share, i was diagnosed with gestational diabetes a week ago (31 wks na ako ngayon). Been on diet and testing my blood sugar 4x/day.  I have met with a dietician and my ob to help me with my diet. First step, buy a glucometer so malalaman natin kung nagwowork ang diet, im testing 4 times per day ( before breakfast, then 2 hours after bfast, lunch and dinner). Need ng small frequent feedings so im eating total of 6 times per day (2-3hrs interval), preferably same time everyday. So breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner and bedtime snack.

Most important Rule:  COUNT YOUR CARBS INTAKE
                                    When eating, ALWAYS PAIR CARBS WITH PROTEIN
                                     ALWAYS READ FOOD LABEL (Nutrition facts)

Avoid: simple sugars (candies, chocolates, cakes, anything na matamis sa panlasa mo is a NO-NO)
            Refined carbs ( white bread, white rice, anything na white, stick to WHOLE grains instead)
            As much as possible avoid STARCHY VEGETABLES
            Watch your fruit intake since fruits are naturally high in sugar.

I was diagnosed with GDM last week.  :( This is my second pregnancy and sadly, ang daming complications. 101 ang glucose level ko, sabi ng ob and endo ko dapat daw nasa 92 lang. Minsan, nasa 80-86 lang ako pero at these times, sobrang gutom ako. Haay, ayoko ng insulin shot. Tapos ang mahal pa ng test strips.  :'(

Hi sis..wag paka stress ;)...when I was pregnant I was diagnosed too..yung internist na unang tumingin sa akin insulin shot agad ang gusto...feeling hopeless tuloy ang lola mo...nagpa second opinion ako sa Diabetologist and nakuha naman sa diet..thank God..and yes sis ang mahal ng strips until manganak ka dapat meron ka nyan kasi maya't maya during labor ichecheck nila ang bloos sugar mo...eto yung mga sample food na binigay niya sa akin..Mula August-Nov 2012 bago ako manganak:

Fish - no to fried nabuhay ako sa pinangat, kinamatisan, pesa, nilaga, sinigang (paikot ikot lang to sis)
Fruits - anthing naman basta ang rule of thumb niya kasing laki /  haba lang ng ballpen ;)
Rice -  1 cup ng brown rice; pero sa kagustuhan kong wag mag insulin half cup lang ako
Chicken - may sabaw, breast part lagi tanggal ang skin...medyo madali to for me yung sa skin kasi tinatanggal ko    naman talaga
Beef and pork -  WALA SA MENU :)
wag ka din mag juice or softdrinks kasi mataas sa sugar ang mga yan..you can do it sis...Im a living proof ;)

^thanks sis for the tip, di naman ako nag-brown rice. white rice pa rin pero half cup lang tapos super konti na lang kinakain ko. Paano yung rule of thumb sa fruits? Currently kasi, mahilig ako sa oranges. hanggang gaano karami ang pwede?

For oranges and the like laging half..kung small-medium ang size...yung like ng suha na malalaki 2-3 lang ang allow...oranges is good pa naman at nakakaadik kainin...ang ubas pa pala sa loob ng isang araw 10pcs lang puwede kong kainin..aun pa naman ang pinaglihihan ko nun...tiis tiis lang talaga sis...ayaw ko kasi mag insulin natatakot ako para kay baby..sa tyan pa naman niya gusto ipaturok...sabi ko sa isip ko no way!...ayun diet lang talaga...

^thanks sis!!!  ;D Bukas ang next check up ko sa endocrinologist ko. May 1 week na monitoring na ponagawa siya sa akin. Yung 1 hour after each meal i-measure ko ang blood sugar ko. So far, ang highest ko is 122mg/dl at yan yung time na marami akong nakain kasi birthday ng FIL ko. Twice lang naman na nangyari yun. Average reading ko after each meal ranges from 95-110.

Pinag insulin na ako 185 ang level ng sugar ko. pero sa OGTT ko isa lang ang fail ko. Kahit nag iinsulin ako, control pa din ang food intake ko. Maganda lang sa insulin hindi ka gutumin though need mo talaga mag eat ng 5-6x a day. Nag bo brown rice ako pero nabasa ko na mas mataas ang GI ng brown  rice kesa sa white rice. Kaya mix ko na lang ng white rice and brown rice. Btw, I'm on my 15 weeks of pregnancy and first baby namin. Mas ok na sa akin mag insulin kesa metformin kasi mas may side effect daw sa baby ang metformin as per my doctor. Hindi talaga madali magka GD there were times na naawa ako sa sarili ko dahil hindi ko ma enjoy ang food pero inisip ko na lang na kung para sa baby titiisin ko lahat. afterall, 9 months lang naman :)

So far, so good naman ako. Nasanay na ako sa controlled diet ko at pinayagan ako ng endoc ko na dagdagn ng konti yung kinakain ko kasi mababa daw ang reading ko. No need for insulin shots just controlled diet lang daw works for me.  :D

So far, 127 ang highest reading ko. As much as possible, ayaw ko na tumaas pa. Hanggang 120 lang ang gusto ko. hehe

Bake, roast, broil, grill, or boil instead of frying your food.  :) Try steamed fish, broiled chicken, and steamed vegetables. I find eating brown rice effective in reducing my blood sugar. During my pregnancy, I felt so deprived since most of the food I eat are unseasoned because aside from having gestational diabetes, I was also diagnosed to be hypertensive.   My husband prepares my meals kaya super strict sa diet.   :D

Mayroon po ba dito ng home blood sugar monitoring?? yung gumnamit ng lancets at strips??? ilang beses po kayo ng momonitor sa isang aarw??? salamat po sa pagresponse=)

@beloved0226 ako nung pumunta sa endo inadvise akong bumili nun. Ayoko pa namang nagtutusok sa sarili ko perp walang choice eh. .sa isang araw apat na beses ako  gumagamit nung glucometer. Isa  pagkagisig ko, tapos another  ulit after one hour ng breakfast tapos one hour after lunch then one hour after dinner.

Tapos pinakuha din ako nung HB1A1C ng endo, ayun. .maganda result ng test kaya every other day na ko kukuha ng blood.

@faithperry .... thank u po s apagresponse... ako pinapagamit ako ng gluco meter 2x a day... ayaw ko din ng tusok tusok at dugo... pero need kasi paara ma monitor ang blood sugar.... normal naman sa akin 94....pero ina advise pa din akong mag monitor.... kaso mahal ang strips...=(

@beloved0226 mahal nga ang strips. :( I heard mura daw sa Bambang kaso wala akong time magpunta dun at malayo pa sa amin. Yung 94 mo ba, after yung ng pagkain mo or before? Ako kasi dapat less than or equal  92 daw ang level sa morning. Haaay. .sana ma-maintain na natin ang normal level ng blood sugar until we give birth.
