I found many Steamed Chocolate Cake recipes, planning to try these 2:

i already tried making steamed chocolate cake. I used Maya's Devil's Food Cake Recipe and instead of baking it, I used a steamer. Wala rin kasi akong oven. As for the condensed milk, sa mga locally available sa supermarkets, I've tried using Angel's, Carnation and Alaska on the fudge frosting. My top pick would be Alaska. Mas gusto ko yung lasa and thickness niya. Anyway, I have a different recipe for the frosting kaya di ko alam if it will work on your recipe. I already posted it on SP here's the link: http://www.smartparenting.com.ph/parentchat/index.php/topic,48539.msg763004.html#msg763004

sis, click this link:
http://www.themayakitchen.com/index.php?view=285

pero instead na yung procedure sa cake ang gawin mo, here's what you have to do:

1. Prepare cake as per package directions.
2. Lightly grease your pan with butter and line with baking sheet/paper.
3. Pour contents into the pan until it is 1/3 full.
4. Seal tight with aluminum foil. Make sure there are no holes where water can seep through.
5. Steam in a steamer for 20-40 min or until cake is done.

Note: you can check if the cake is done by inserting a toothpick through the middle. But, you must remove the pan from the steamer to avoid getting burned. Make sure the cake has cooled down before putting the icing.

^I love the frosting recipe. It's the best I've tasted so far. The better, the quality the cocoa powder and milk you are using, the better it will taste!

The thicker the cake you make, the longer it will take to cook.

@mommyness - eto na po:

Recipe from the Maya Kitchen

Chocolate Icing:
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon coffee
2 cups evaporated milk
1 cup condensed milk
1/4 cup all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 tablespoon butter

Prepare chocolate icing: In a heavy bottom saucepan mix together first five ingredients cook until thick or spreading consistency, add in baking soda and butter. Slightly whisk mixture until smooth.

To Assemble: Put one layer of cake onto serving plate, spread 1/4 portion of icing. Top with the second layer of cake. Frost top and sides of cake with the remaining chocolate icing. Decorate top of cake as desired.

Title: Re: Steamed Chocolate Cake
Post by: trishevil on June 27, 2012, 05:31:49 pm
^around P120-P150. You can use Maya's Chocolatey HotCake Mix @ P70 or you can try making your own cake mixture (I did this nung nasa province ako.

Title: Re: Steamed Chocolate Cake
Post by: sweetpumpkin on June 28, 2012, 08:29:47 am
:) question ko is may possibility ba na masunog o maovercook ang steamed cake?ano ang ok na pan para dito? yung parang teflon?stainless pan? or silicon pan? pasensya na matanong ako...wala kasi akong mga gamit nasa pinas mga baking tools at pans..so kailangan bumili ng bago at kailangan hindi palpak kasi lagot ako! hehe...
Title: Re: Steamed Chocolate Cake
Post by: trishevil on June 28, 2012, 08:47:35 am
@ dyan*** - I used 2 pans. I forgot kung anong size

@sweetpumpkin - the pan I used was yung regular lang. parang ganun sa ginagamit sa leche flan kaso round yung sa akin.

Title: Re: Steamed Chocolate Cake
Post by: trishevil on June 28, 2012, 09:33:50 am

Title: Re: Steamed Chocolate Cake
Post by: trishevil on June 29, 2012, 04:44:30 pm
^sis, I think any type of chocolate cake flour mix will do. hehe I think it will work sa steamer kasi moist cake naman gagawin. If cookies or brownies, kelangan oven talaga kasi, kelangan yung "crisp" which can be achieved if directly applied yung heat (not through steam). hehe, theory ko lang..

^I was looking for Betty Crocker too pero wala din... baka sa ibang supermarkets meron, tingin ako next week sana meron...

hi mga sis... naku i tried this yesterday at medyo hindi maganda results ko hehe... absent ako yesterday kasi may sakit yung anak ko... hindi kasi naging focus yung luto ko but my daughter is helping me out so hinayaan ko sya maglagay ng mga ingredients(she is 7) so far ok naman....

@momiofenzo

I made this one yesterday kaso hindi luto yong gitna ng cake. ano gagawin ko para maluto sya? also hindi successful yong chocolate filling niya so what i did was i made an icing na lang then i coated it to my cake. turns out well naman yon nga lang ang feedback super tamis though masarap naman daw. i wanted to post pics kaso hindi sya nagpapakita eh. nageerror.

tips naman on how to cook yung gitna ng cake. halos 1 hour ko na sya steam but to no luck uncooked pa rin yong gitna niya.

Post by: sweetpumpkin on July 09, 2012, 09:17:12 am
Title: Re: Steamed Chocolate Cake
Post by: QueenBee on July 09, 2012, 09:21:35 am
Title: Re: Steamed Chocolate Cake
Post by: trishevil on July 09, 2012, 09:25:24 am
^mga sis, just pour 1/4-1/3 lang ng batter sa pan para hindi masyadong makapal. or you can try adding half a teaspoon of bakingsoda to make the cake rise.
Title: Re: Steamed Chocolate Cake
Post by: QueenBee on July 09, 2012, 09:32:34 am
^i read something na nilalagay sa gitna which they call heating core. pero ill try not to put all the cake mix sa pan. in your experience ba evenly cooked yung cake mo?
Title: Re: Steamed Chocolate Cake
Post by: trishevil on July 09, 2012, 09:40:55 am
Title: Re: Steamed Chocolate Cake

^so bale you'll cook the remaining cake mix in a different pan tas pagpapatungin na lang? tips naman mommy on how to do the chocolate filling/fudge. natuyuan yong akin kaya hindi ko na sya mailagay sa cake. i mean masyado malapot to the extent na ang bilis tumigas asa pan palang. hehe

^ganunna nga sis, in my case, 2-3 pans ginagamit ko, depende sa volume ng ginagawa ko. As for the fudge frosting, it is best to apply it on the cake while it is hot pare hindi tumigas..Ine-estimate ko lang kasi yung consistency ng frosting ko..if sa tingin ko spreadable na siya, I turn off the heat na.. If feeling nyo malapit na siya sa spreading consistency, turn it off a minute early..it will cook on its own kasi mainit pa siya.. Sa fudge frosting ako nadalian gumawa..palaging maganda yung kinalabasan ng ginagawa ko..And another tip, dapat, turned off na yung stove when your adding the butter and baking soda then todo effort sa pag halo para evenly distributed. As soon as you turn off the stove, add na agad yung butter and soda after 15-30 secs..

^actually may thread dito about making icing. "All about icing" yong subject

anyway here's the ingredients:

4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened (i used buttercream)
1.5 tbsp full cream milk (i used Alpine) ;)
1 box Peotraco confectionersí sugar
food coloring

paghaluhaluin mo lang silang lahat and mix it using hand mixer. since i do not have my hand mixer dito sa manila. i do it manually using whisk. sakit nga lang sa braso pag una. if you want it na medyo basa just add milk.

as simple as that.  :)

enjoy sis!

@jem.sexy@yahoo.com - hahaha your welcome!
