Hi Mommies,

I have a 10 month old daughter and I know that sooner or later she will begin to walk. Now, I caught in the idea if I will buy her a walker or not?

We bought walker with wheels for my son which he used for a week lang siguro because it wasnt too stable.  We werent able to try the walking wings, but this might be a better alternative than the walker.

Never bought a walker for my daughter, to think that I'm a baby gear addict. I find it useless eh, baka sumabit pa feet ng anak ko sa ilalim.

I let my baby use a walker because its very convenient for me.

When he was slowly learning to walk na talaga, ayaw na niya sa loob ng walker... Mas gusto nyang ginagawang parang push cart yung walker niya! hehe.... :)

Sa kagustuhan namin ni hubby ma-develop ni baby ang motor skills niya on her own and sa payo na rin ng pedia, we decided na wag na pagamitin si baby ng walker.  Just invest sa protective gears like rubber mats para safe pa din si baby while practicing maglakad.  I'm sure kaya ni baby mo to learn how to walk on her own!  ;) Good luck sis and kay baby!

with my two boys i never used walker. hindi daw adviseable sabi ng ate ko before. bumili lang ako ng play yard / playpen na malaki yung naka flat sa floor. at the age of 6-7months tinatanggal ko na yung crib although malaki din yung crib namin, the problem is kahoy sya kaya may tendecy mauntog so the pay yard is very much convenient, iwan mo lang dun no worries ka na kung saan mapupunta anak mo to explore at safe kahit matumba sila while practicing to walk on their own. i can do houselod chores kahit gising ang toddler ko. super sulit.. at 10 months nkakalakad na sila agad mag-isa.  ;)

I used babywalker for my baby.  But not too long.  Kasi lagi siyang na aaksident.  Nakakaawa.  Ang hilig niya kasing tumakbo and minsan tumataob siya.   :-[  Then I read a lot of articles encouraging moms not to use it.  Kasi sa US ban na siya because of so many accidents. Naglalakad na si baby without the walker at age 10 months.

Advantage or Disadvantage? Hmmm... Neither, or it depends I guess.

My daughter used a walker when she was about 6-7 months, it did help strengthen her knees and such, and she enjoyed using it. Lagi din naman kaming nakabantay so wala naman accidents, we never take our eyes off her pag gamit niya yung walker. Pero learning how to walk...di kami nagdepend sa walker. Medyo old school pa din mga ILs ko regarding that so they used their old school ways hehe - and I think that's what worked.

So I think using a walker can be an advantage, if used properly, and not at length. Disadvantage kung mahal sya, at saglit mo lang din naman gagamitin (hehe), at lalo na kung ipapagamit sa baby without proper and focused supervision. :)

sis ferdbabes: if your daughter is already 10 months old, I suggest wag ka na mag-walker, just guide her para matuto, be ready with soft mats around the house in case madapa-dapa. In a few months, she'll learn din. You can also buy yung parang play yard, parang 'gate' lang ba to enclose a space for your kid... But still, never leave her unsupervised. :) No matter kasi how 'safe' baby equipment are, iba pa din ang may mga matang nakatutok at nakatingin. :)

Hi mommies!

Tingin ko isang advantage na may walker ang babies, (aside from the obvious na para ito sa motor development niya) is at least ma-re-relieve ka o yung yaya from carrying or guiding the baby too much. :)

Hi Sissie! I find the walker a very good gear for baby. My baby started using it at 7mo, at 10mo nkakalakad na sya without any support.

my baby will be turning 6 months on the 26th and he is using a hand-me-down walker, bigay ni ate which was used by her bunso. of course may advantages, like nakakakain kami ni hubby ng sabay habang nasa walker sya pero tinitignan pa din namin sya to make sure he's okay. I also believe that it will help strengthen yung knees niya kasi pag nandun sya, medyo nakaupo sya at kung gusto niya lumakad e kailangan niya tumayo. Ang disavantages naman, sabi nga ng ibang mommy, prone to accidents pero mapprevent naman to kung babantayan natin sila ng maigi. At medyo mahal para sa short-term use.. kung may mahihiraman kayo or may magbibigay ng nagamit na, e di better :) just make sure that it is still in good condition.

My little boy turns 8 months, and my baby starts moving. He tries to stand, he needs strong support to develop body and help to move hand and foot. But this always not possible to stay with him for support. So, thought about push walker to support him.

Personally, i don't like walkers as I believe they teach babies to walk on their toes rather than flat on their feet. We have a couple of those push along walking aids, something like that is better I think.

We bought DS a baby play centre, they sit in it like a walker but it doesn't have wheels, so DS still could bounce and hold weight on his legs but didn't stand using his toes. It can be lifted higher as they grow taller too.
