Junior Savers Club ng BDO si Baby Girl namin. I make it a point to put kahit na 500php lang every sweldo. Problematic kasi ako pagdating sa money (beofre) but I'm learning my lesson na, lalo na ngayon I'm handling our finances at home.

i'm from ucpb.  but we don't offer savings account for kids.

i would prefer BDO, between the 2, kasi very accessible.  mahaba nga lang ang pila kung weekends, especially sa mall branches nila. but it really helps kung my kilala ka.

Original Birth Cert of Baby, 2 valid IDs of Mom/whoever is opening the account gfor the baby, 1pc 1x1 picture of the guardian and 1 picture of baby. :)

sori OT, pero yung sa mga kids ko yung account nila is sa banco filipino yung happy savers club. dun kase nagwowork si FIL ko, so dun kame nag-open hehe. so lahat ng mga monetary gift ng mga kiddos namen dun namen nilalagay, at least as early as now may savings na sila. reqts nga lang nila aside from the photocopy of the birth certificate and valid ID of the parent/s, is 1x1 pix ng mommy/daddy.

hi mommies :)

for those who opened Fun savers club/metrobank for their kids, may na-avail po ba kayong free educational trust benefit worth P50K? i just read it from metro's site. as i read this thread, most mommies nag-open with BDO dahil accessible. pero in terms of interest rates and benefits/features, ano po ba meron sa BDO at metro ( aside po sa discount priveleges)?

Junior Savers Club (BDO) for my 2 little one's..

Madali kasi access para sa kin kasi meron din sila sa SM Malls especially pag weekends kasi yun lang time ko to go to bank..

Meron silang binigay na BDO rewards card, same function as SM advantage card.

wala ID na binigay for my 2 kids, 2 passbook lang talaga..

thanks sis qt_mom_c for the info. hindi pa ako nagawi sa metro kaya hindi ko rin pa natanong sa branch nila dito. hindi pala updated un site nila. parang sa Security bank. sabi sa site nila may free medical checkup, trust fund at gifts un junior acct nila then nun nagpunta ako last april sabi until kinabukasan na lang daw un promo ng junior acct nila para ma-avail ko. pinagmamadali pa ako nun new accts officer nila. daig pa nila ang mall kung magsale. sa BDO at metro kasi mababa interest rate. un nga lang, BDO is very accessible kahit saan meron at even Sundays may bukas sila. currently, DBP YES acct si baby. check ko na lang din if saan pa mas ok.  :)

gusto ko din mag open ng account for my 7-mo baby. since matagal ma stock yung pera, mas ok kung mataas ang interest. have you checked yung PNB Dream Builder? isa ito sa mga tinitingnan kong options, aside from junior savings.

For daughter I got her Fun Savers, this comes with an accident insurance for the parent. They issue a certificate when you open an account.

It works like this as explained to me, account should have a minimun 4K average monthly balance to be valid.

Mommies, try niyo magshort-term TD for babies if malalaki naman yung initial deposit, para may significant interest agad after 45-90 days, then iroll-over niyo until kelan niyo gusto. Ganun gawa namin kay first baby, nakakatuwa yung interest, then siguro saka na namin ilalagay sa savings account kapag toddler na siya or yung maaappreciate niya na ang concept ng "pag-iipon"

I planned opening other account for my baby sa Metrobank, katabi kasi siya ng office namin. So sad hindi man lang ako in-entertain ng empleyado dun. As in super inquire ako, pinag-antay nila ako ng matagal kasi busy pa daw yung officer na in charge dun sa account opening.
I think I'll stick with BDO nalang. Medyo big amount of money pa naman ang dala ko that day tapos hindi nila ako inasikaso. pina-deposit ko nalang sa BDO account ng baby ko. :(

I opened a Junior Savers Club account for my baby few months ago. NSO copy of baby's birth cert, my passport and 1x1 pic ko lang ang sinubmit ko nun and we were given a passbook right away (ATM can be requested if 7years old and above na yung bata). After about 2 months, I submitted baby's 1x1 pic to get discount card which was given after 2 weeks lang. I like their service, sobrang bilis lang and open pa kahit weekends. :)

My daughter have savings account under her name. All they money from binyag, xmas, birthday etc. goes into the savings account.

Para sa 8 years and up, pwede sila makakuha ng ATM card for an initial deposit of 2,000 pesos. Requirements- photocopies of kids  birth certificates,
2 ID pictures, 2 valid IDs and 2 ID photos of the parents.

Sa Bank of Makati (A Rural Bank) kami nag-short term TD. So far kasi, they offer the highest rate, and minimum deposit. Nakakatuwa din kasi it started as 5K from "money gifts" our baby got from her "binyag." Now, it's almost 8k. When it reaches 10k, ililipat na namin  sa separate savings account.

Then siguro ulitin namin after "makapamasko" si baby.  ;D

Per BDO Website, eto yung prevailing interest rate sa JSC: 0.5000%

Please check: http://www.bdo.com.ph/Personal/DepositsInvestments/NewInterestRates.asp#

Just select the "Peso-Savings Account" from the dropdown menu bar, tapos makikita mo na yung different types ng account, kasama na dun yung JSC.

I just want to ask if a year na walang withdrawal or deposit sa account, meron bang deduction yun?

As for my experience, oo may bawas sa metrobank pag dormant ang account at baka maubos pa pera ni baby. Kaya lumipat ako sa bpi and bdo. unlike sa bdo, although may deduction very minimal lang kasi mas mataas pa rin ang interest rate na binibigay nila.

--------
yung sakin kasi , 300,000 lang muna yung kinuha ko for my baby ,so im paying 100k plus  annually, for 5 yrs , bale nasa pangalan ko sya, so insured din ako, anything happens to me si baby yung beneficiary ko, and aside from that my loan able amount pa sya, and after i reached the maturity (i get 10 yrs , kasi 1 yr old palang si baby para exact na 16 yrs old na sya nun , for college ) they will divide the 300k into 8, yun ang marereceive niya per semester, aside from that , after graduation , she'll receive additional 300k as her graduation gift...after that stop na , and if lets say dina natuloy si baby , you can get the lump sum money anytime basta fully paid ka na and that's with interest narin.... you can also get a life insurance for your baby , yun naman . after 5 yrs of payment , plus you need to wait for additional 3 yrs , she'll receive her pension , i'm not familiar with the amount , and that's for  a life time pension, yun nga lang every other 2 yrs ang pension niya....just visit BDO and ask for GENERALI PILIPINAS kasi may computation yan depends on your age , pero mas maganda mag start habang maaga pa ,para mabilis nyong mareached yung maturity period,.

I'm talking from experience, I am now 45 years old, my kids are 14 and 16 yr-old.   I have done what you all did, saved the money they got every year from their christening, to their birthdays and every christmas, napakaliit lang ng naging interes.  If I knew then what I know now, I would have done differently.  For sure, come what may, di nyo gagalawin ang pera, and time is on your side, kahit volatile ang market, may time makarecover pera ng mga babies nyo.  By the time they graduate from school and need money as starter fund you have something to give them as a gift.  Both BDO and Metrobunk have funds like these, and they are stable banks, BPI is also a good bank.  Though I have also observed that it's hard to do business with metrobank anywhere because they have so many clients.

i think pwede naman, kasi i didn't have to go to the bank personally when i opened the savings acct of my baby...kumuha lang ng form yung staff ng MIL ko, then fill-up ko sa house, gave all the necessary requirements then sya na nag-submit sa bank (BDO)..but since nasa abroad yung sister mo, need mo pa siguro ipadala dun yung form (?) for her to fill up and sign, medyo hassle :(

Just want to share mga mommies, we opened a time deposit account sa Chinabank for my baby last January. Magmamature na next week. Pwede ko na uling dagdagan. So far, compare with other banks, Chinabank has a higher rate of interest at 3% per annum. Medyo malaki lang required initial deposit.

Ako mommy, I decide to transfer sa mutual fund , kc nag open ako ng time deposit pero after 3 years liit ng kita 700 lang, unlike if ni transfer ko agad sa Mutual fund almost 18-30k ang na income ko sana (dipende sa investment) . Actually may May Bank, Bdo, MBTC at China Bank Saving… mas malaki interest ng China Bank .

Thanks

Hello everyone! My son's school just finished their community walk the other day where they went around GH Shopping Center and visited the different establishments there. One of the stops was Eastwest Bank. i accompanied my son and he was given a free piggy bank by the bank employee. They had told us that they offer a kiddie savings account and if and when my son fills his piggy bank then we should bring it to them to open an account with them. i am not familiar with the requirements as the did not give me any information about it. I just wanted to share that there are other options. Maybe you should check out their website if you're interested. I myself am still thinking of which bank i should enroll my kid into. My personal favorite bank is BPI as it os very accessible but they don't have an account for kids. If I wanted to open with them then I had to open a regular savings account. BDO seems nice since every SM Mall has one.

Subscribing. :)

Still thinking if I'd go for Metrobank or the more convenient BDO. BPI sana kaso their jumpstart savings is for 10-17 year olds lang eh....

Pinag-iisipan ko kung mag-oopen ako savings account for my baby or open a time deposit account for him. Unang-una, I don't intend to withdraw money from his account pero plan ko magdeposit every pay day. Hindi ba sa time deposit dapat all in na? Nakakapag deposit pa ba kung time deposit or fixed na talaga yun initial deposit?

@sis lilvanity

hi mommies :)

for those who opened Fun savers club/metrobank for their kids, may na-avail po ba kayong free educational trust benefit worth P50K? i just read it from metro's site. as i read this thread, most mommies nag-open with BDO dahil accessible. pero in terms of interest rates and benefits/features, ano po ba meron sa BDO at metro ( aside po sa discount priveleges)?

Hi, matagal na pala itong thread na ito, based on my research kung gus2 mo ng mas malaking return sa savings mo esp. your kids savings. you may also try Mutual Fund. ihave put my kids savings sa mutual fund for my 2 kids and so far so good. there are 3 options depending on your needs: you may try the high risk, balanced or low risk. xempre mas risky mas mataas ang return. also, things i have learned thru finacial trainings if you really want to protect your family's future. you have to secure yourself first. you have to build your financial foundation. protect yourself thru health and lifetime insurance (SSS is an affordable option), eliminate your debts, then emergency fund incase mawalan ng work, then investment. as parents dapat matutunan natin yung tamang investments and savings para worry free pag tumanda tau or maaga nating maiwan ang ating loved ones. if u want to learn more about these you may contact IMG Tel. No.: (632) 812-2551  or watch pesos and sense. hope these helps.....God Bless.....

opened a BDO Junior Savers account for my little girl - for convenience reasons. Gusto din daw kasi hulugan ng mom ko for her apo, e since nasa Manila sila, kailangan yung easily accessible na bank. :)

I'm considering opening or getting another form of investment for my daughter too. Thinking kung mutual fund, investment-type insurance, or time deposit na lang... (may ibang thread ata for this. hehe. sorry mods kung OT)

natuwa naman ako sa BDO, a month or 2 after i opened a JSC acct for my baby, nag-send sila ng rewards card sa akin, so instead of getting the advantage card from SM, yun na lang BDO rewards card ginagamit ko :)

BDO JSC din yung kay Xian. Last December ako nag open so I can keep yung mga monetary gifts sa kanya nun binyag niya and christmas. Nagulat ako, sobrang bilis iopen. Valid ID ko lang, copy ng busy (kahit di nga authenticated kc wala pang 3 months yun baby ko the time ng nag open ako ng accnt for him) and ang cute pa dun, yung pics ng baby..  :)

500 lang initial deposit. In less than 10 mins. ibibigay na sa iyo passbook. Good thing pa about bdo, open sila everyday mall hours.. kaya yun.

Some offers as low as 100.00, your kids can open a bank account. I read that BPI has several freebies for the kids kapag sa kanila ka nag open bank account.

I find it practical to open  a kiddie account at small banks. Kung interes rates lang ang paguusapan, they give more. Popular banks give only .25% pero may freebies. There's this fear naman na mataas nga ang rate ng small banks pero baka hindi stable. On the other hand, magsara man, insured pa rin deposit niya, hindi naman siguro kami aabot sa higit P500K (I wish). Big or small bank, I still get to teach him the value of savings.

Of the many banks I compared, pansin ko na kapag mas maliit at hindi popular ang bangko, mas mataas ang interest. They have ordinary accounts na pwede sa bata like passbook account.
