My son started nursery 1 when he was 2. He is turning 4 next week and will be in Kinder 1 this June. His interest in school has not waned. Sobra parin syang excited to go to school. Lagi niya ako tinatanong if open na yung school niya.  :D

Single Moms / Re: Kelangan pa bang baguhin ang apelyido ni baby?
« on: April 19, 2012, 08:33:59 pm »
@raizah14, is your parents married? Maybe that's why the embassy asked for the consent.
When you are not married, you have the parental authority to your child, kahit iba ang surname niya.
When was that? baka they changed the rules already. Check the link I posted, that's the current law regarding bringing your child to the US.

If you want to change your baby's surname, you need to consult a lawyer.

@raizah14, I just want to ask sis, what is the real reason why you want to change your baby's name?

My son is also using SD's surname. Before we went home here in the province I made sure I can take my son anywhere in the world and his father wont have any say on this. You don't need any authorization from SD to take your baby out of the country. Kelangan lang ng authorization if your baby will travel without a parent. And you can give that authorization if ever your baby will travel with out you. Your baby having a different surname than yours is not a hindrance for issuing a visa. I have a pending petition in the US and my lawyer didn't even bat an eye when he learned that my son has a different surname. I read US Embassy's site regarding this: "Philippine authorities advise the American Embassy that generally the Philippine courts will give custody of children under the age of seven to the mother, provided there is no evidence that would indicate that the mother is unfit to raise the child."
http://travel.state.gov/abduction/country/country_514.html

And you are not married to the father of your baby, legally, you have the parental authority to your baby. I applied for a CENOMAR lang, just in case hanapan ako.

Changing a name/surname is a legal issue sis. One member here already did that but sobrang haba ng process and magastos. I am not discouraging you. You just have to realize the reason why you want to do it. Who will benefit from it?

I dont have anything against mommys changing their baby's surname to theirs. I understand the pain, I have been there too.
But sana we should have have let our babies use our names in the first place. But since nakalagay na, registered na si baby, then just let it be nalang. This is my personal opinion lang naman. It would be more complicated to explain to a child baket in his birth certificate iba yung surname tas may note lang na pinalitan yung surname. Im not sure if they will issue a new birth certificate or just make a note lang. And it will be my triumph once my son will opt to change his name by his own.

My son is turning 4 this May. This is his 2nd year going to school and I still let him wear diapers. Pero pag sa school lang naman. I know sya nalang nagdidiaper sa school pero ok lang sakin. He is potty trained though. He can say poopoo and wiwi and he can go to the toilet by himself, he calls me lang pag clean up na. I still let him wear diaper sa school kasi Im worried lang na baka magkaaccident sya dun and mapahiya sya.
I tried one time, we went to church and I did not let him wear a diaper, siguro he got confused kasi naka brief sya and naka pants pa kaya he had an accident. He got worried too much, wipe daw niya yung wiwi niya kasi magagalit daw yung pastor. So sabi ko baka may negative effect pa yung naging worried sya masyado or baka napahiya sya, kaya I did not insist anymore. He wears diaper when he is in school and during bedtime.
I'll wait when he is really ready.

Your Kid's Health and Safety / Re: cough almost every month
« on: December 22, 2011, 09:12:13 pm »
My son is like this too. He has asthma. Halos every month may ubo. Just avoid things/foods that trigger the asthma sis. Asthma is an allergy kasi e, as much as possible avoid nalang chocolates, nuts, chicken, eggs, anything na medyo nakakaallergy. What I do first if medyo inuubo ubo na yung boy ko I give antihistamine muna, baka kasi makati lang lalamunan. Sometimes it helps naman. After 3 days pag meron pa ring ubo, go to the pedia na.

Big Kids / Re: HOw to deal with the talkative kid?
« on: November 07, 2011, 01:37:45 pm »
Pag sa bahay lang, I let him be. But pag may kasusap si mommy or may ginagawa si mommy, I tell him to wait. For me, ok lang na talkative, its a sign that his mind is working. He even talk to his toys. There was a time he talked to the ants (Zach: "Ants do you want to drink? "after a pause... "What? You dont have a mouth?!")
Im just having a hard time teaching him to wait. Pero patience is not what you can expect from a 3.5 year old boy, so I am being patient for him to learn that virtue  ;D

Sis kahit anong sabihin nila wag kang magpapahilot.
Kwento ko lang, may kasama yung pinsan kong nagpapacheck up sa isang clinic. There was this pregnant lady, kabuwanan niya na ata, the OB cannot locate her baby's heart beat anymore. HIrap na hirap yung OB so she suggested na mag pa UTZ ulit. The OB kept asking her, when was the last time she felt the baby move, kung anong ginawa niya etc. etc. Ayun, inamin din nun babae na nagpahilot sya.
So ayun, she lost her baby because of hilot. The doctor already warned her about that kaya lang hindi sya nakinig. Sad. :(

Pamahiin / Re: have you heard about "witching hours"?
« on: November 02, 2011, 09:44:08 am »
Im a nurse and I loved working night shift. Wala pa naman nangyaring ganyan sakin. Unholy hour siguro yung 1-3am because everyone is asleep? walang scheduled operation kasi it would be unwise to schedule it that time kung pwede namang sa umaga? pero surely they have to operate when they need to, like in an emergency. It's unholy to the doctors because they are asleep during those times  :P I had to rush a dying baby to the NICU once (1am) and there were no doctors around! tulog sa quarters and nagalit pa nung ginising ko  :-\ I have never experienced it sa hospital, e sabi nila madami daw sa hospital. I was waiting for it to happen to me pero wala, nada. Pumupunta pa nga ako sa building sa likod nun hopsital to get blood alone. Baka they dont like me?

Body clock explanation is more sound. If you follow a routine and ended up peeing at 3 am, and do the same routine the next night, more likely, you will again wake up at 3am the next day.

Dito naman sa bahay, there was one weird thing I remembered happening but im not sure if its 3am, basta its about that time. We have a new tv mounted on a wall in my son's room, I remember I programmed it na mag on at a certain time pero hindi naman siguro madalinga araw. I was watching TV sa sala then i heard someone talking in my son's room. I checked and found the TV on. So I turned it off and went back to what I was doing. Then it turned on again. I went back put it off again, unplugged it and said, "please gabi na, tsaka bahay namin to, umalis na kayo"  ;D
I dont even know why I said that. Nothing like that ever happened again.
Nun umaga na naisip ko lang, the TV was new and the time wasnt even set properly. My mom sent it from the abroad kaya siguro nag ka problema sa time zone and natawa ako sa sarili ko.

If you believe in these stuff, you are more inclined to accept it. But when you think about it meron namang rational and scientific explanation.

Sis anything is ok, If you want to spend your baby's birthday intimately with just the 3 of you, ok lang. Ikaw ang magdedecide. Nasa preference mo naman yan, ako im a very private person, days like this are more meaningful for me if spent with just the important people in my life. Nawawala yung meaning ng araw for me if I have to deal with all the other people pa, with the stress and all. So anything goes. What is it you want for your baby? What do you want to remember during this day? For sure, hindi naman niya maalala yun. Just go to church, give thanks for the life that is given to you, then spend the day just how you want it to.  :)
