Your Kid's Health and Safety / Re: Tigdas hangin / Measles on kids
« on: November 01, 2008, 09:52:35 am »
my jiro started having fever last tuesday and may konting rashes na i thought mosquito bites lang. nagkatigdas na kasi sya months ago so hindi ko ineexpect na magkakaron pa sya ulit. i called up his pedia and i asked kung possible ba na umulit ang tigdas. she said, iba-iba daw kasi yun, may tigdas hangin, baby measles, german measles at iba pa din daw yung totoong measles. my hubby brought him to the pedia the next day, ayun tigdas nga daw pero viral lang, yun ata yung tigdas hangin na hinahayaan lang na lumabas at lumipas ang rashes. binigyan lang sya gamot na anti-kati. til now, persistent pa din rashes niya sa arms at sa face pero thankfully, wala nang fever. sana nga before i go back to work on monday magaling na baby ko,  :'( hirap iwan ng anak pag may sakit eh.

Your Kid's Health and Safety / Re: Tigdas hangin / Measles on kids
« on: August 09, 2008, 03:59:24 pm »
three weeks ago, my 9-month-old, jiro, had this. una lagnat din 38 pataas ang temp. paracetamol lang din binigay ko pero on-off ang fever. pag bumaba ang fever i give him warm bath pa nga kasi di sya makatulog pag di naliligo, nasanay na kasi. then after 2 days, na-observe ko tulo ng tulo ang laway, as in parang di na sya makalunok. tapos humina din ang pagdede niya at may konting rashes na sa legs na akala ko pa bulutong. my mom said baka may singaw, so i decided to bring him to his pedia na. ayun, tigdas na pala at sa loob unang lumabas, persistent sa tongue. nakasama pala yung pagligo ko sa kanya kasi hindi daw nakalabas ang rashes.
a week before that, jiro had his measles vaccine. a few days after, nagka sipon sya becuse of the weather. sabi ng pedia, since live vaccine ang measles, expected talaga na magka-tigdas within 2 weeks after mabakunahan si baby. lalo na nagkasipon after, so mahina resistance kaya nagka tigdas.
ang pine-prevent lang daw ng vaccine ay complications, not the disease itself. so ang chiken pox vaccine, doesn't mean daw na di magkakabulutong ang bata. maiiwasan lang daw yung convulsions, at severe complications.

Money / Re: Is it okey to open a bank account for your kids/babies?
« on: July 16, 2008, 01:40:07 pm »
my two sons, meron sila sariling account under their name. bdo junior saver's din. i opened it nung after christening nila, yung mga gifts na money din ang pinang-open ko ng account. tapos every birthday and christmas din, straight to their savings ang pera na nare-receive nila.

my eldest, alam na niya na he has his own money na nasa bank. i don't know kung okay na pinaalam ko sa kanya kasi whenever he'd ask us to buy him something na luho, pag sinabi ko wala pang pera si daddy for that, sinasagot kami, "ako may pera nasa bank, kuha ka." :D

Breastfeeding / Re: my baby doesn't seem to get enough milk from me
« on: June 22, 2008, 05:16:45 pm »
pareho tayo ng problem about our breastfeeding mommy she.. i can relate to your problem.. up to now ganun pa din ang baby ko.. iiyak pagkatpos ko padede skin.. mukhang di siya nasasatisfy.. eh sobrang worried ako 3mos. pa lang siya at mukhang ayaw na niya dumede sakin.. huhuhuhuh.. help kapwa moms!

hi mommy! the one thing i learned and did when i was having problem, NEVER GIVE UP!!!  :)  someone told me, impossible na hindi nasasatisfy ang baby mo, kasi our breasts produce milk that satisfies our baby's need. basta breastfeed ka lang mommy, eventually magkakasundo rin kayo ni baby. :D i've been successfully bfeeding for 8 months now, i'm so glad i didn't give up on bfeeding. go mommy, you can do it! ;)

Breastfeeding / Re: need help low milk supply :(
« on: June 10, 2008, 02:23:02 pm »
I don't know if familiar po kayo dito sabi kasi ng matatanda yung right breast daw un yung solid foods like rice and then yung left yung liquid kaya daw dapat laging pantay pag nag BF ka hehe..

oo nga mommy naniniwala ako dyan...actually sakin left ang food, right ang water, kasi yung medyo thick and creamy yun daw ang solids side, then yung lighter at malabnaw yun ang liquids side. kaya nga for the first 6 months no water talaga diba kasi we supply water already through bmilk.
sabi pa nga sakin nung naghilot sakin pag may hiccup daw baby bfeed lang...totoo naman mas mabilis mawala hiccup kesa painumin ng water from the bottle. ;)

hi mommy javvy! i'm a breastfeeding SAHM, currently bfeeding my second son for almost 8 months na. nung una problema ko din yan, nakaka-frustrate diba. lalo na pag umiiyak ang baby, napipilitan ako magbigay ng formula kahit ayoko. pero di ako nag-give-up, what i did was constantly put him on my breasts, as in di na kami naghihiwalay mag-ina. ;D the soups and the malunggay helps, pero what increases the milk talaga is yung frequent stimulation ng baby...the ever famous law of supply and demand na sinasabi ng mga bfeeding articles, totoong totoo po. ;) don't measure your milk supply sa dami ng na-pump mo kasi hindi ka talaga masasatisfy pag yun ang tiningnan mo. basta just nurse directly as often as your baby wants kasi sya ang magsasabi sa system ng mommy if he needs more, surprisingly your breast will produce more talaga.
important mommy to give him both your breasts para pantay ang milk production kasi pag sa isa lang sya ngffeed, naku mommy baka yun isang breast malaki at yung isa maliit. ;D
good luck mommy, kaya mo yan!

Baby Development and Milestones / Re: Pacifier
« on: June 02, 2008, 03:49:43 pm »
my firstborn, seth, used a pacifier 'til he was two. as in di sya makatulog ng walang pacifier. his dentist advised me to make him stop, buti na lang di ako nahirapan kasi nung marami na sya teeth, nabubutas na pacifier niya. ayaw niya gamitin yung butas, that's when i told him na mag-stop na sya kasi big boy na and pinagbawal na ng tita dentist. i made him throw away pa his pacifier so hindi na niya ako hiningan ng pacifier kasi pag naaalala niya, i'd tell him diba you threw it na. ;)

my second naman, kahit anong pilit ko pagamitin ng pacifier, ayaw talaga.

iba-iba pla talaga kids noh. :)

Breastfeeding / Re: Breastfeeding/nursing room in malls
« on: May 21, 2008, 09:12:22 pm »
i think mas accepted na ngayon ang breastfeeding in public, than a couple of years ago. actually, breastfeeding is the "in thing" nga daw nowadays diba. siguro kasi mas aware na ang mga tao about it and because nga of the promotion of the govt. and NGO's, mas madami ang mommies na na-encourage to breastfeed even in public for that matter. plus, because of modern fashion, thanks to nursing bibs, nursing clothes and slings, easier na talaga for us to breastfeed kahit saan.
ako nga, nung earlier months ni baby, my husband would tell me magbaon ako ng expressed milk pag lalabas kami. i'd tell him, bakit ba, i can feed him naman while we're out ah. siguro medyo dyahe nga sa daddy na tinitingnan tayo ng iba while breastfeeding. but eventually, nasanay na din si hubby dahil di niya ako mapigil ;D

i was actually at rustan's nung inauguration ng nursing station nila. a smartie, jen tan, threw me :) an email 'coz she was a guest speaker. she discussed baby wearing...and promoted her product--slings. ;D sobrang nice talaga ng place and it's actually not just for breastfeeding, it's also a mom & baby lounge, if gusto lang ni mommy mag-rest from shopping, or for yaya & baby while mommy is shopping.

i've been to sm sta. rosa's bfeeding station, okay naman sya. inip lang si daddy sa paghintay sa labas. :)

sen. pia cayetano, i think, passed a bill requiring all establishments, esp. malls to have a nursing area. also to prioritize nursing moms sa mga pila like pregnants and senior citizens.

Birth Control / questions on Exluton
« on: February 29, 2008, 08:51:47 pm »
hi mommies! sino po sa inyo ang nakagamit o gumagamit ng exluton? talaga po bang nagmimiss ang menstruation? nagtataka lang ako. i'm on my 4th pack now, i didn't have my period this month. i don't think i'm pregnant naman 'coz me and hubby have been using additional contraceptive method. do you mommies experience delayed period while using exluton? i've read sa internet na it's one of the side effects, pero i want to know kung totoo nga yun before i go to my ob.

thanks,
she

Baka Lumaking Entitled Ang Anak Mo
Nagwawala na Naman Si Baby?

my eldest is 2yrs and 8 months. i know this is the stage of kakulitan and extreme tantrums. but i don't know what to do with my kid anymore. ang hirap sawayin, and he hits his yaya kapag hindi nasunod gusto niya. madalas ko tuloy napapalo. i try to avoid spanking and yelling at him kasi feeling ko kaya sya ganon sa iba kasi ginagawa ko sa kanya. i tried the diplomatic approach pero wala pa din. proper ba na paluin na ang bata at this age? he understands na kaya all the explaining na ginagawa ko? (i dont think my son does) how do you really deal with a toddler when it comes to discipline?
