Food / Homemade Meatballs and Spaghetti Dressed with Tomato Sauce
« on: January 17, 2012, 01:39:03 pm »
Sobrang nainlove ako sa spaghetti ng Yellow Cab. Unfortunately, hindi naman kami mayaman para mag-dine in don palagi.  Kaya nagresearch talaga ako ng spaghetti recipe that i can cook easily in the comforts of our home.

Sa mga pasta lovers, i would like to share this recipe with you.  ;)

Homemade Meatballs and Spaghetti Dressed with Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

Sauce:
1 can of chopped tomatoes
1/2 medium sized onion
4-5 mushrooms-sliced thinly
2 cloves of garlic
1 teaspoon of dried mixed herbs(or Italian Seasoning preferably McCormick)
75ml cream (optional)
Seasoning

Meatballs
1lb minced beef
1/2 medium sized onion
1 clove of garlic
3 dessert spoons of breadcrumbs
1 dessert spoon grated parmesan
1 egg
2 teaspoons of tomato ketchup

Here's how:
1.Mix the onion and garlic in with the meat.
2.Add all ingredients and use the egg to bind them together.
Be careful with the egg as you may not need the full egg - depending on size.
3.Using some flour mold the meatballs into the desired shapes.
4.Cook for 3-4 minutes on the pan and then transfer to the oven for an additional 15-20 minutes to ensure that they are thoroughly cooked.

To Make the Sauce:
1.Fry the onion, mushroom and garlic until nice and soft.
2.Mix in the mixed herbs and the chopped tomatoes.
3.Allow the mixture to bubble away for about 10 minutes.
4.If using the cream add to the sauce now to enrich it.
5.Season and add the meatballs to the sauce.
6.Serve on top of some spaghetti.

Food / My Simple Fried Rice
« on: January 17, 2012, 01:24:31 pm »
Here’s my version of fried rice.

Tip: I cook the eggs together with the mixed veggies. I don’t pour the beaten eggs directly to the almost done fried rice like in the usual instructions to cook it, nor fry or scramble them first then chop. It seems that doing so takes a longer time incorporating all the ingredients and mixing the fried rice. (Sakit sa kamay  ;D)

Ingredients:

4-5 cups cooked rice (much better if the rice is less sticky)
1 cup cooked mixed veggies (I use the greenpeas, carrots, and corn kernels mix)
2 eggs, beaten (seasoned with salt and pepper)
˝ cup Chinese chorizo (also known as Chorizong Macau), chopped
1 ˝ teaspoon garlic, chopped
1 ˝ tablespoon onion, chopped
1 sachet (2 grams) Maggi Magic Sarap
˝ shrimp bouillon cube
1 cup peeled cooked shrimps (optional)

Here’s how:

1) Sauté garlic and onions, then add the Chinese chorizo and stir-fry for 2 to 3 minutes.
2) Add the peeled shrimps, mixed veggies and shrimp bouillon.  Continue stir-frying and let it cook for another 2 minutes.
3) Add the beaten eggs to the sautéed mixed veggies, stirring until the egg is cooked and thoroughly mixed with the veggies.
4) Add the rice and Maggi Magic Sarap. Mix well for 2 to 3 minutes until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Please do share your own recipe of fried rice, too, mga sis! Thank you!  ;) :D

Food / Salisbury Steak Recipe
« on: January 17, 2012, 01:06:29 pm »
I got this one from Nestle website.  (http://www.nestle.com.ph/recipe/nestleclub/default.asp)

Try nyo mga mommies.. masarap!

SALISBURY STEAK
Ingredients:
1 pc egg
1 160g NESTLÉ Cream
˝ cup breadcrumbs
˝ tsp salt
1/8 tsp ground pepper
1 8g MAGGI Magic Sarap
˝ kg ground beef
cooking oil for frying
fried bacon (optional)
fried egg (optional)

Mushroom Gravy:
˝ cup sliced button mushroom
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
1 medium onion, chopped
1 cup evaporated milk
2 tsp MAGGI Magic Sarap
1/8 tsp black pepper

Procedure:
1. In a large bowl, beat egg. Stir in NESTLÉ Cream, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper and MAGGI MAGIC SARAP. Add beef and mix until fully combined. Shape into patties. Set aside.
2. Heat oil, cook prepared patties over medium heat until browned on each side.
3. To prepare gravy: Melt butter with 2 tbsp dripping from the fried patties. Stir in mushrooms and cook over high heat. Add in onions and cook until limp.
4. Add flour and cook while stirring until brown but not burnt. Pour in evaporated milk. Stir until slightly thick. Season with MAGGI Magic Sarap and pepper.
5. To assemble steak: Top prepared steak with a piece of fried egg and few pieces of fried bacon. Drizzle or serve gravy on the side.

This is my own version of the White Sauce: (Mas madali ito  ;) )

White Sauce for Salisbury Steak

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons butter
1/2 beef bullion cube dissolved in 1 cup of water (to make a broth)
1/2 cup cream
2 tablespoons flour dissolved in 1/4 cup of water (to make the sauce thick)
a dash of pepper

Here's how:

1) Melt butter in a thick sauce pan.
2) Add in beef broth. Simmer.
3) Add cream and mix.
4) Pour in the dissolved flour while stirring until sauce thickens. (You can add more dissolved flour if you want it thicker)
5) Add pepper.

Tips: Pag nagmamadali na kayo.

1) Ang bilhin nyong cream eh yung Nestle Cream in can (not the "All-purpose cream" in tetra pack)

Mas thick ito, 1/2 of it, you can already use for the Salisbury Steak meat mixture and the other 1/2 for your white sauce.

Then follow steps 3 to 5.

Our husbands may be, at some points, get into our nerves. But I'm sure, they are still lovable in our eyes.. :D

These are the things i love about my husband:

1) He gets up ahead of me. When i wake up, everything's already prepared... maliligo nalang ako.

2) He's "no sweat" when it comes to cleaning our baby after pooping.

3) He never and doesn't raise his voice over me at times when we are debating.

4) His hugs and kisses come unexpectedly.

5) He compliments my cooking.

6) We do not have to engage the services of a carpenter or plumber... he can already perform it.

7) I love the way he plays the guitar.

8 ) He is a good son and sibling.

9) He is a loving father to our son.

10) Even if i'm not as beautiful as other women, he still loves me and remains faithful to me.

6. Tuwang-tuwa ako kapag umaabot ng 2 pages yung thread na sinimulan ko  ;D

Hi mommies!

I always get curious about the usernames of my fellow moms (and dads na rin!) here in SP everytime I reply and read posts.  I consider each and every username unique and makes me think: “Bakit yan ang  username niya?

As for me: it was supposed to be Yham’s Love.  In tagalog, ANG PAG-IBIG NI YHAM (Yham is my hubby).  Well, Geno and I are Yham’s love!

Pero medyo nagkaproblema sa pag PM that’s why I asked the apostrophe and space from my username to be removed… kaya ngayon “yhamslove” na.
