Baby Development and Milestones / Re: ear piercing
« on: December 08, 2010, 03:49:23 pm »
wow momi gly, bilis ng panahon! 2 months na your baby. to answer your question, if there is no infection (thus no inflammation), the redness goes away within 3 days.

yes, better i think for ear piercing to be done before baby gets to be so magulo. i waited for my baby's 6th month to have her ears pierced. ayun, napataas tuloy piercing sa 1 ear kasi tinabig niya kamay ng pedia niya with the ear piercing gun  ;D then mega iyak.

last saturday, kinuha namin yung pinatahing dress ko.

when i showed it to our nearly 2 year old daughter, i told her: "this is mom's dress."

she looked at it and then said: "blanket."

tumawa tuloy hubby and yaya.

said hubby: "anak mo talaga marunong mang asar!"  ;D

mukha daw blanket o!

Weaning, Formula and Solids transition / Re: weaning from bottle
« on: November 07, 2010, 05:18:49 am »
our nearly 2 year old daughter still drinks milk from her bottles.

she knows how to drink na from an open cup, sippy cup, from a straw. kaya lang madalas natatapon pag open cup kasi she yanks the cup then tinutungga. we haven't really tried putting milk sa cup, maybe on a few trial occasions lang.

i only read this thread now. and i like the suggestion post here na to talk to your child na another baby will need his/her bottles.

worry ko lang, mahina na talaga sya uminom ng milk sa bottle. and if lagay ko pa cup, konting konti na lang milk drink niya. plus di pa sya matakaw solids. baka pumayat na ng husto  :(

then at night time, pampatulog niya talaga, di makatulog pag walang dedeng milk. what to do? :o

Your Kid's Health and Safety / Re: hand strap kids while malling
« on: November 07, 2010, 04:18:13 am »
a friend just gave us a back-pack like harness (as what other moms  posted photos here). monkey naman and my daughter likes the monkey.

we haven't used one on our nearly 2 year old daughter. we hardly go out sa super sikip na malls except on several occasions na i noticed na walang takot din my daughter to walk by herself, enter shops na di man lang lumingon if katabi niya pa ako, lumiliko agad, hirap habulin.

she has also voiced her vehement objections on using her stroller. sadly, may 1 time na nalaglag na sya kasi nag-ala houdini and she was able to extricate herself from the straps by wiggling and standing up.

what to do? maybe i will use the harness for safety purposes.

maybe i won't bring her at all to super crowded places. we have a yaya and we take turns carrying our toddler dun sa mga mataong lugar. masakit din kasi sa likod carrying a toddler.

too many considerations really, but i really don't care much what others will say if they see us with a harness.

ballpens, pero ok lang disposable naman. so i don't buy expensive ones.

IDs, ito ang malupit. madalas misplaced lang so ok. but if really lost na (iwan sa buildings where ID is required to be left) or iba pa. hay, sayang oras din sa kapapalit.

ponytail holder/hair clip, kung saan saan iniiwan kasi.

payong, di na masyado ako nakakawala. dati parati din.

Your Kid's Health and Safety / Re: Safety First: Lift and Lock gate
« on: October 05, 2010, 01:56:31 am »
hi sis, i think di ka naman OA to buy. i know medyo pricey pero wala yatang local brand na gate of that type (not that i know of)

you stated your case on why you bought the gate and it's better to be safe than sorry. ako sinasama ko our daughter sa CR pag kami lang. malayo kasi.

na convince mo yata ako. pag labas ng room ng baby namin are 2 flights of stairs, pataas at pababa. ako yata dapat bumili  :)

FAQs and Common Pregnancy Concerns / Re: Alternative Milk for Anmum
« on: October 01, 2010, 02:27:18 am »
when i was pregnant, my ob advised me to drink non-fat milk. ok naman - you get all the milk protein minus the fat. just as long as you take also the vitamins prescribed.

Party Planning: Birthdays and Baptism / Re: help!i want a unique invitation
« on: September 17, 2010, 04:36:40 am »
i suggest do an origami-type of invite. just choose a nice model, browse the internet. i haven't really seen an invite like this but this sounds interesting  ;) because it's 3D

choose a more "formal" design for baptism or any that may appeal to you, like a structure of faith, symbol, etc

Family Fun / Re: Parks in Manila
« on: September 17, 2010, 04:31:09 am »
we've been to luneta twice in the past few months - the area along kalaw (excluding the Gardens), and the area next to it (Rizal monument) but not the other side where the playground is.

the areas we visited were clean and safe to run around in.

we've visited lately the playground area of the QC Memorial Circle - many slides, seesaws and swing sets for all kid sizes. quite busy on Sundays.  :) lots of area to walk and run, specially along the circle where the new dancing fountain stands. no entrance fees! safe but sadly the visitors throw trash everywhere so even if maintenance is done several times a day, the playground area can get messy at times.   :(

nearby Parks and Wildlife has seen better days. only some birds remain in their cages. not much wildlife left. the area is huge but some parts were converted to resettlement of families left homeless by fire.

this is a good thread so please post. people should spend more time in the outdoors not cooped up in the malls.

then again, our government should see to it that we have safe and clean parks.

Breastfeeding / Re: Storage for Breastmilk (Economical and Safe)
« on: September 13, 2010, 12:10:36 pm »
i used the nanny (and another brand i forgot the name, but it's more expensive) breastmilk storage, only during long trips away from my baby.

i used the reusable BPA-free evenflo containers (looks like 4 oz. feeding bottles but without the nipple and cover, but nipples and covers can also be placed with the containers) for every day expressing of milk at the office. it's about 400 pesos for 4 containers, available at sm, robinsons etc.

if breastmilk is to be used within 3 days, no need to put in the freezer (because this then needs to be thawed). just put in the ref, at the coldest innermost part (not the door).

if breas milk is to be used within a longer period and for longer storage, put containers in the ref.

wow sis mmlinsangan, you have a very good supply of breastmilk, in your case if your baby cannot consume your milk for the next day, better use some of the disposable containers for longer storage (as you are using now) and the reusable for 3 day use.

hi mommy ashley. we resided in sta. mesa for a few months.

there is a school that sounds like probel (i don't know the correct school name and what it means) and it's somewhere near the area of stop and shop (the other side). heard good things about it. i was going to check it out but then we had transferred to q.c.

please post here if you do inquire from them.  :)

Carol of the Bells - I like the version of children singing and blending their angelic voices. I remember high school.
