you can also join the nosurgery4clubfoot -a yahoo support group of parents who has child/children born with clubfoot/feet.

Who is treating your son? Where is POC?  Can you compare the cast position that he has with the cast on this link:
http://sites.google.com/site/jneyneeestrera/castingphase

Just wondering how does your dennis browne shoes look like? Is it locally made? How much success rate does your doctor have in treating clubfoot?

I know talagang mahirap pumila with an infant.  I've been there :-)  We started when Yanni was 2 weeks old and that time, hindi pa ako masyadong makalakad (napilay ako, but that's another story :-) ) Since Dr. Javier's clinic is in PGH. Usually, the first day is talagang mahaba ang pila kasi you have to secure a blue card (as the partient's record or pass) but the succeeding schedules usually from 12:00 noon dapat nasubmit na blue card then matatapos na yung consultation before 4pm. (4pm ang pinaka matagal)

You can call Dr. Aguilar and ask her what is the best time you can go in her clinic and explain the situation that its difficult for you to wait  a long period of time since you are bring an infant.

naku sis, churi late na post ko...better to call pgh muna and inquire what day and time ang schedule for initial check up/ consultation for  clubfoot kids...  kasi kami dati (that was more than 2 yrs ago), ang initial consultation or first visit is every tuesday. Dapat daw tuesday morning nakapila na para makakuha ng blue card. then hapon ang consultation talaga...after that every wednesday na ang casting schedule at check up ng brace...

hope this helps...

aram_zendryx,
Pm'ed you my reply.

Mommy Jen,

Sa next thurs day na isusuot ang brace ng daughter ko.  Ano bang dapat dalhin na socks?  Ordinary sock lang ba pwede na?  Di ba kayo nahirapan nung first night ni Yanni with brace?

hi redisol,

ordinary socks lang ang ginamit namin kay yanni. but i think if you have the longer one or a little bigger socks for her much better para hanggang sa may plastic rubber sa likod ng shoes abot yung socks..at your daughter's age hindi naman big deal kung malaki ang socks kasi hindi pa naman sila naglalakad basta avoid crease or tupi ng sock na maaring mag create ng blisters especially dun sa parts ng may straps...

Our first night with Yanni in his brace is a little long night compared when he was in cast.  You just have to teach your little one to move her legs together.  Kasi si Yanni before (during casting phase pa lang) kaya niya itaas ang legs niya individually.  during the bracing phase, siyempre dapat sabay yung dalawang legs niya to the same direction kaya na frustrate siya but once nai-guide mo itaas-baba ang bar para malaman nila na pwede naman nila itaas ang paa nila (same time and same direction nga lang  :-)  )  they will be fine.. :)

our first night with yanni in his brace may be different with you kasi we used the locally made shoes pa then after a month or two pa before we were able to have a new pair of mitchells brace.  With the Mitchells brace, it was all smooth sailing.. I can not tell if it was because my yanni was already accustomed to the brace or because the leather of the Mitchells is softer than the locally made one  :)

goodluck on thursday  :)

Thanks mommy Jen!

Btw, anong ginawa mo dun sa mga nakalakihan na ni Yanni na shoes?  Did you sell them? or are you planning to sell them?  Sa kay Dr. Aguilar kasi pwede   iwan and pwede ka rin bumili if available.  Tiyempuhan nga lang na merong tamang size by the time na kailangan  na.

@ smart.momi - i am not in the position to say that your doctor is effective or he is not effective. what i can advise you is to learn as much as you can about clubfeet, like the correct position of casts and the bracing protocols, the degree of the dorsiflexion of the brace, etc.

the following are some sites that have tons of info on clubfoot:
Global-help Clubfoot Ponseti Management
http://www.global-help.org/publications/books/book_cfponseti.html

Ponseti International Association
http://www.ponseti.info/v1/

you can also browse my site, where i compile some info of our clubfoot journey and other sites that help me through:

hi guys!
just got home from PGH..grabe pala ang tao dun pag Monday. First time ko pumunta kanina. Sad to say d naman natuloy check up namin. Kelangan pala dala yung pasyente, eh iniwan ko si baby eh. Buti na lang sa Wednesday pa schedule ni Dr. Javier kaya balik kami by that time. Aagahan na lang namin pagpunta dun para makaabot kami.

hi smart.momi,

kailan ang balik nyo dun?  kasi one of these days (maybe on March 24 or April 14 na due to the holy week) baka pumunta kami ng baby ko sa PGH, baka magkita tayo   :)
