mommyjen, i need your opinion pls..yung anank mo ba ginanito rin? kasi db PGH din kyo? pls pls let me know..thanks.

Tenotomy and tawag dun. Case to case basis yun pero sa States kasi most of the time required and tenotomy as part of the Ponseti protocol.  Sa observation ni Dr. Aguilar a lot of  patients here in the Phils di na kailangan to undergo one.  Ayaw nga daw una maniwala ng doctors sa Iowa until Dr. Morcuende came over to visit saka lang sila naniwala.

If your baby is not responding well to casting maybe kailangan niya talaga but don't worry, it's usually an outpatient procedure lang naman.

redisol, yup i already understand the procedure and my baby underwent it yesterday. sabi nga dun sa PGH eh lahat pala ng patients nila ng clubfoot nakaka-experience non..they do that before assesing the foot if pwede na mag-shoes...felt bad for baby lang kasi last night hindi sya makatulog sa pain ng wound niya..kaya kanina pinacheck up ko say sa pedia and she recommended paracetamol na lang for pain reliever kasi si baby too young pa daw for anti-biotic..balik na namin in 3weeks time na..

kawawa naman pala si baby.  Hopefully sandali lang di na masakit yung sugat?  Nilagyan ba sya ulit ng cast after the tenotomy?

oo nga eh. super nasasaktan nga sya eh nong hinihiwaan sya. di ako tumingin kasi parang ako ang nasasaktan para sa kanya..niloko pa nga ako ng doctors kasi iyakin daw ako kasi d ko talaga napigilan sarili ko..imagine wala kasing anesthesia eh..
yup nilagyan din ng cast right after ng tenotomy..
i prayed to God na ilipat niya na lang ang sakit sa akin and thank God kasi parang nagkatotoo..ako ngayon yung maysakit then si baby di na nasasaktan dun sa sugat niya..ok lang basta she's okay:)

Hi,

I was able to chance upon this forum while looking for an article regarding my daughter's condition. This is the first time i heard about clubfeet and I was surprised to see the pictures and confirmed that my daughter is not just "peke" there is something more. She is already five years old and turning 6 years old this October and now I know she has clubfeet. But i hope its mild case because it only started showing when she was four, at first i thought she's only "peke" until everyone I know started noticing the way she walks. Now i'm starting to get concerned and after reading through the forum i've decided to see dra. aguilar. May I know if you have to set an appointment with her or you can just directly go to her clinic and fall in line. And how much is the initial professional fee? I'm planning to visit her clinic next week because I feel that there is an urgency in this kind of condition. Thank you. I hope my daughter will still have a chance because I notice that everybody started treatment for their kids at a very young age.

By the way, momi jen you are such a great person for having the patience in answering everybody's question, personally speaking, you have a been a great help. May God Bless you always.

Samantha524

I'm not too sure if your daughter's condition is really clubfoot since I think the condition is usually congenital.  I guess mabuti nga patingnan mo sa dr to be sure.

if it's clubfoot, Ponseti Method could still work for your daughter.  check out Dr. Aguilar's study on Ponseti methodin older chilldren as published in the Ponseti website;

http://www.ponseti.info/v1/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=65

You can call up dr.aguilar's clinic and pa-appointment ka with Claude (her secretary).   Ask her the best time for you to go since medyo mahaba minsan ang pila para di ka maghintay for too long. PF is P600.00

redisol,

thank you for posting the website and answering my queries on Dra. Aguilar.

I hope its not clubfoot because as i've read its congenital, but i feel as though its really clubfoot, i hope the doctor will say otherwise. I'm just so bothered because as she grows you can really notice that she's walking differently compared to other kids. Anyway I'll keep you posted on the result of her consultation. Thanks again for the reply

hi smart.momi,

hindi nakaranas ang baby ko ng tenotomy kasi super flexible ng mga paa niya at nagrespond naman sa casting...although the procedure is an outpatient procedure...ang alam ko, nilalagyan ng cream to numb the area pero talagang walang aneasthesia eto kahit local aneasthesia...cream lang ang nilalagay tapos mabilis lang ang procedure - less than 15 minutes... minsan nakakatagal ay yung paglagay ng cast... yes mommies, dapat full leg cast pa rin at naka medyo sitting position or bent ang legs then, 3weeks ang balik for the shoes na...

hope all is well for you guys... :)

hi Samantha524,

If it is clubfoot, even if your daughter is already walking, it is not yet too late....it can still be treated with casting

Or you can also search for metatarsus adductus ...

you can also join the nosurgery4clubfoot yahoo group and there's a lot of photos for Metatarsus Adductus (MA as sometimes called for short)

Just curious here on how different you mean is your daughter walking? Does she walk from the outside of her foot? or is it that her toes are just pointing inward?

Hope you find your answers...

hi momi jen,

Thanks for the reply. She walks differently because her toes are pointing inward when she walks and she often falls while walking or running and you're right my daughter has metatarsus adductus.

I went to Dra. Aguilar's clinic last night. I was there at 5pm she came at around 5:30pm and my daughter was initially seen at 8pm, then she instructed us to have my daughter x-rayed at the main hospital in St. Lukes then we want back to her clinic and she was seen again at 10pm. I was about to give-up at 8pm but I know she's the best doctor so I waited and its worth the wait because I was able to know the answers to my questions and Dra. Aguilar is very accommodating and patient as well. My daughter who is usually afraid of doctors was not afraid of her that's another plus. =)

Anyway my daughter was diagnosed with metatarsus and she is required to wear insoles in the morning (i'll order it in pasig) and a ponsetti brace at night (i'll order it online). It is quite pricey though so I'm wondering if the brace is already available here locally? And would you know how much is the locally manufactured brace is?

I also notice that most of the kids with clubfoot or metatarsus also has a speech problem, Is this also the case with your child? and with other parents as well. I'm just wondering if there is any connection.

Anyway may i know what is the complete name of Dr. Javier that you are seeing PGH... is he Dr. Juanito Javier. Thank you.
