Hi mommies here! Pano po ang proseso ng pagpapa-check-up sa mga clinic ng ortho (?) sa PGH.
Kailangan bang pumila? Magkano ang rate nila?

Gusto kaseng pa-check yong back ng anak ko kase i suspect may scolio sya.

Thanks in advance.

hi momi jen,

Thanks for the reply. She walks differently because her toes are pointing inward when she walks and she often falls while walking or running and you're right my daughter has metatarsus adductus.

I went to Dra. Aguilar's clinic last night. I was there at 5pm she came at around 5:30pm and my daughter was initially seen at 8pm, then she instructed us to have my daughter x-rayed at the main hospital in St. Lukes then we want back to her clinic and she was seen again at 10pm. I was about to give-up at 8pm but I know she's the best doctor so I waited and its worth the wait because I was able to know the answers to my questions and Dra. Aguilar is very accommodating and patient as well. My daughter who is usually afraid of doctors was not afraid of her that's another plus. =)

Anyway my daughter was diagnosed with metatarsus and she is required to wear insoles in the morning (i'll order it in pasig) and a ponsetti brace at night (i'll order it online). It is quite pricey though so I'm wondering if the brace is already available here locally? And would you know how much is the locally manufactured brace is?

I also notice that most of the kids with clubfoot or metatarsus also has a speech problem, Is this also the case with your child? and with other parents as well. I'm just wondering if there is any connection.

Anyway may i know what is the complete name of Dr. Javier that you are seeing PGH... is he Dr. Juanito Javier. Thank you.

hi momi sam,

question, whats the diferrence between insoles and ponsetti brace? medyo mahal nga yung ponsetti brace kaya baka puwede na sa baby ko yung insoles lang, tapos na kasi yung daughter ko sa casts niya for checking na lang ni dra aguilar if kelangan niya pa magsuot ng shoes, kasi babalik daw yun kahit ok na yung paa sa ngayon especially if di pa naglalakad ang baby, kasi baby ko 4mos pa lang. di ko kasi maabutan si dra sa OPC sa banawe, kasi meron daw sya clinic sa St lukes, what time and day po ba ang clinic niya dun, para dun na lang ako pupunta kasi di siguro ang schedule ng pagpunta niya sa banawe.

Mommy sabine,

It will only cost less than P10. Again, mahaba po talaga ang pila sa BLUE CARD :)

Here is the telephone number of PGH 521-8450.  You can inquire first before going there para sulit at hindi masayang ang pagod/pagpunta dun... Inquire the schedule for ortho pedia (i'm not sure if Tuesday and Wednesday) para pag kukuha kayo ng Blue card same day na lang... KAsi ang Blue card ibibigay dun sa kung anong room kayo first magpapacheck up. Smart.momi , please correct me if i'm wrong, ha...kasi medyo matagal na kami nakakuha ng blue card (more than 2 yrs ago na po)

Regarding sa rate, it is much cheaper compared to private clinics/hospitals... For check up, free...for laboratories - may bayad but you can also go to social service (SS) for assistance (another mahabang pila po yun) para bibigyan ka ng another card as a discount card for all laboratories and medicine bought inside PGH.. We did not avail the SS kasi one time lang nag x-ray ang baby ko and it only cast less than P500 for feet, knees and hip x-ray...

Advisable lang kumuha ng SS if talagang maraming laboratories exams and if talagang can't afford and patient. The discount may vary depends on the interview of SS personnel..

hope this info helps... :) ;)

yes Mommy Ineng..sacrifice talaga...nong first time namin dun di ko muna sinama si baby kasi nagtanong tanong ako ng mga procedures..after namin makakuha ng blue book di pa nga ortho dept yung derecho namin kasi kelangan daw dumaan muna si baby sa pedia for check up..ayun sa awa ng Diyos pangalawang beses na pagpunta namin dun eh nasimulan din ang cast sa kanya..yung schedule kasi ngayon dun pag tuesday pedia tas pag wednesday eh yung na yung casting. pero its either of the two puwede ka pumunta. pakiagahan na lang din lalo na pag bago ka kasi baka until 9am lang tanggapan ng blue card..this week pinili ko na tuesday kami pumunta kasi may mga consultant na titingin sa baby mo..kainis nga yung doctor na nag-cast kay baby eh nagmamadali tuloy parang tabingi yung paa ni baby..next week magsshoes na sya..hoping for a more positive development..good luck sayo sis at sa baby mo..were just here if you have questions:)

hi mommy aikat,

sorry for the late reply anyway the difference is that the insoles are worn in the morning and its smaller than the brace and its placed inside the shoes of the child while the brace is worn at night and its bigger and more bulky compared to the insoles, if you want to see the picture of the brace you can go to the site of momi jen. I don't know what dra. julyn will recommend for your daughter, but i don't think she will recommend the insoles because your daughter is not yet walking.

anyway the clinic hours of dra. julyn aguilar in St. Lukes is every Tuesday and Thursday between 4pm to 6pm, but you should call the clinic first look and for claude the secretary she will advise you as to what time you have to go there so that you don't have to wait too long.

hi momi sam,

Dear Mommy Jen,

My daughter was born with bilateral clubfoot. she was 2 weeks old when she had her first cast by Dr. Aguilar.

Im so happy while reading all the messages from other mommies out there who have the same situation like ours. Very helpful.

Thanks you and God Bless!

Actually we are in the same predicament now, but my son is 2 yrs and 8 months old, your s is still 1 yr and 5 months only? My oh my, maliit yata paa ng baby ko? He is currently wearing the size 4 mitchells shoes..

If you are not yet a member of the no4surgeryclubfoot yahoo group, i suggest you join...marami kang matutunan and who knows baka ikaw naman ang mag-share ng experience mo to encourage other families with their clubfoot adventure   :)

Kung may interested, I'm giving away my daughter's shoes, size 0. Her size 1 shoes will also be available maybe two months from now. Both are without brace since gamit pa niya ito.

Yung size 1 niya I got it from a generous parent from the States so I decided to pay it forward to another clubfoot baby.  To anyone interested, please pm me.  Kung wala kasi I'm donating it to Dr. Aguilar na lang.

Edit:  Forgot to mention earlier na Mitchell's (Ponsetti) shoes pala ang gamit ng anak ko.   Size 0 (newborn) and 1 are available now.

Joyen,

I'm sorry but sigurado hindi magkakasya ang shoes ng daughter ko sa anak mo.  8 mos old pa lang kasi anak ko ang medyo maliit sya for her age.  Try mo sa yahoo groups. Dun din kasi ako nakakuha for my daughter.
