Toxic breastmilk pag pagod at puyat ang mommy?
« on: September 23, 2017, 02:18:28 am »

Is it safe to breastfeed my baby after I get home from my stressful job? I work 20 hrs, sometimes more, a day and I always deal with stressful situations. One mom told me that I shouldn’t breastfeed right away after I get home, all puyat and pagod bec my milk would be toxic for my baby.  I was advised to pump the milk and throw it away. Is this true?

It's a myth po. Breastmilk is never toxic unless it was improperly stored and got spoiled. Kahit nga po may lagnat ang mommy, pwede pa ring mag breastfeed,
yun pa kayang pagod? (SP 2010 article) Sayang po kung itatapon. Why not store it in a feeding bottle, pwede pa inumin ni baby yon kung wala kayo sa bahay. You can also freeze it basta properly stored. May nabibili na storage bag for freezing para sa breastmilk.

Breastfeeding and the Pinay Mom: Beliefs and Opinions

Bottom line is, you need to have a supportive husband and family. Breastfeeding isn't a journey you have to take alone. I think it's your stressful life and lack of rest that's weighing you down. Breasfeeding shouldn't make the sacrifice. Try to find ways to lessen your load and get support.

Good luck mommy!
