Hi mommies,
I need some advice..
I am currently kind-of worried about my 3yo daughter.
She's becoming a lazy kid. The kind of non-active kid. She just wants to watch youtube most of the time and lay in bed while watching.
We tried and still keep on limiting her screen time but when she's not watching her mood is really bad, like all day long. Cranky and throwing up tantrums here and there.
I tried to engage her in doing some coloring or writing but she's not that interested.
She will grab some toys but will be bored already after an hour or two..
Over the summer we enrolled her in ballet class just to divert her attention and so she can do some exercise.
I also thought that maybe she's too bored at home that's why she's behaving like that coz she's with her lola, younger brother (1yo) and nanny only at home. No playmates. :(
Soon Im planning to buy her some painting stuff to give her something new to do during the day..

Naka-relate ka ba? Mag Reply para makapagpost ng katanungan o payo.

I can relate. A child throwing tantrums when gadget is taken away is a bad sign. Gadget can be addicting. Let her throw a tantrum, it will be bad and even get worse in a couple of days but for as long as you stay firm (you are the boss), it will gradually subside. Yes, being bored with no playmate are factors. I have read a book (will post link later when I remember the title) saying that getting bored isn't a bad thing. It gives them the opportunity to be creative (given the right motivation and materials) and even live with boredom and learn to wait as it's a very important life skill.

Try enrolling her in pre-schools offering toddler classes. Socialization will be beneficial for her.

Hi Mommy,

Thanks for the reply. We actually enrolled her to a ballet class and a school preparedness class over the summer but now that the sessions are already over, she's now back to the usual daily routine.

Another struggle I am facing is with my 1yo boy. Mas grabe siya mag-tantrums than her ate. As in if he didn't get what he wants or even if hindi lang niya ma-shoot yung toy na nilalaro niya or mai-pair he would scream and cry and magwawala na siya..  :'(
Sometime I am lost, I am not sure what to do.. I know we need to stop it but at the same time he is too young naman to understand and too young to be disciplined.

xx

I think kelangan talaga ng ka-interact ang bata. I understand na hindi naman palagi merong family member who has the time to spend playing with her. Maybe for now, toys na matagal laruin like building blocks, doll house or finger painting. taping cartolinas on the wall so she can make murals with crayons. What I like is colored chalk drawn on black cartolina.

About your boy's sensitivity, naku, same with my bunso when he was 1. Mabangga lang ng konti or mawala lang ako sa paningin niya, iiyak na and he can cry continously for an hour. Now he's 11 and is the sweetest boy ever. I posted my story here:
