I wanted to try this too before I gave birth to my second child but I changed my mind because of the price. :(

dear mommies, my friend did get her baby cord blood stored and she told me that they were convinced to do the procedure because this can help the baby and immediate family to use stem cells treat diseases in the future. They don't mind how it is they said at least they are sure and don't have to worry if ever they need stem cells for transplantation kasi daw meron na silang na-invest or nai-store na pwedeng gamitin anytime na kailanganin nila. It is worth it daw naman and I think I will also gonna use and store my baby's cord blood sa second baby ko.. hehe

correct! I also saw this on TV, if not mistaken it is a morning show from one of the biggest TV network. Yes! Really lot of benefits and there's a lot of cord blood banking na dito sa Pilipinas. If only Filipino will open our minds to this new technology. Sabi nga ng friend ko, the price is just like a new cellphone nga lang but we can afford to buy cellphones bakit di tayo maka afford na istore ang cod blood na pwede pa nating magamit in the future. If only have the knowledge of this during my first pregnancy, I will store it. But not too late can save my second baby's cord blood in time..  ;D

we think of availing this too pero finally decided not to get one. i agree that this will come in handy pero we prefer to use our finances for other investment like an insurance for baby. mahal kasi and medyo konti pa lg success stories for this.

Cord blood banking, sometimes referred to as biological insurance, is fast catching up in the Philippines. But is it for you? The first question on most parents’ minds when it comes to cord blood banking might be: Is it worth it? Cord blood banking is not cheap. It requires a one-time upfront payment for collection and processing as well as an annual storage fee each year of as much as $250.

Nag-avail kame nito for my second son, i gave birth may 2011. I signed up nung baby fair sa megamall. 40T upon enrolment, plus vat, pero may discount nung nag-sign up ako so ang total 41,440.02 lahat, plus meron pang avent bottles na binigay. Nag-issue ako ng 6 post-dated checks, yung date ng 1st check is yung estimated due date ko which is may 14. So 6,906.67 each check. Then yearly payment na is 8T, hindi ko na maalala kung pwede terms ulet un, i have to check with the agent na nag-assist samen. :) pero 22 pesos a day is not bad para makaipon ng 8T di ba.

We decided to get this "biological insurance" dahil na din sa medical history ng family ko. Lola sa mother side had cancer, lolo sa mother side had leukemia, my mom had lymphoblastic lymphoma, lolo sa father side had prostate cancer.

Hi, Mommies! I'm currently 5 mos. pregnant and my ob-gyn told me about cord blood banking. I read an article on SP about it as well. What do you mommies think of cord blood banking? Has anyone tried it? What do you think of CordLife and StemCord, the 2 companies that offer cord blood banking in the Phils.? Which one is better? I'd love to hear your insights. Thanks!
