Yun na nga as in tinaga kami sa presyo. :)

minsan talaga ang mga dr's fee are based on the room rate ng patient x by # of hospital days (even if they're not visiting). not only that, even yung price ng gamot, laboratory, & other procedures are based on your room mate... (grabe no?!) pero, thats how it goes dito sa mga hospital natin...  >:(

ako naman CS, my OB's PF was i think 16,600, anesthesiologist was half the PF of the OB, pedia was 4k (direct sa secretary!)...one thing nice naman sa akin is may HMO ako and we have maternity benefit. 40k for CS then 30k for normal.. so maximized ko yung 40k, nag cash out ako ng 9k, and stayed at the hospital for 5 days in a private room.  my OB was very good (medical director of Perpetual help), and very nice..during my labor, she was there and visited me almost everyday.. magaling sya, i recommend her..kaso lang tyagaan lang sa kanya during prenatal kasi sa sobrang busy person niya and sa sobrand dami ng patients niya... :-X

I gave birth kay raffy last january this year... 25 pf ng OB ko but he gave me discount, we pay 28t for pf's including pedia and anesthesiologist na, normal delivery ako... sa pf kasama na rin yung operation ko ng ligation... total bill ko nasa 42t, me nakuha pa ko sa pHILHEALTH due to operation na less pa yung 8t.

bago ako manganak nagkocompute na ko, ok lang makipagnegotiate sa OB mo lalo na kung open naman kayo sa isat'isa, habang maaga it's better na alam nila yung budget mo, kasi pag di ka nag ask dun nagsasamantala yung ibang dr akala nila ok lang lagi kasi wala ka comment... nag inquire na rin ako dun sa prefer kong room, ward ba, semi private, private or suite ba... kung minimal lang difference let say semi parivate to private, i-manage mo yung budget mo at kung san ka sa tingin mo mas comfortable... i even asked na rin yung mode of payment, sa hospital bills usually ok lang credit card, pero sa PF common na yung cash, usually di nila declared sa hospital yun, in my case me waiver kami ng OB ko na it's a private transaction, ok lang yun...kaya before hand, alam ko na gagastusin ko at mapaghahandaan.

TIP lang dun sa mga new mommies, wag nyong sayangin yung sss & philhealth benefits nyo, your paying for it kaya grab the opportunities na makuha yung benefits... for sss if you are voluntary member better na lakihan mo yung contribution mo during your pregnancy at least 1t a month para mas malaki makukuha mo... for that more or less you  will get 20t  plus, sagot na hospital bills mo...

I dont think policy ng TMC yung " ferility baby" thing. Kasi yung opis mate ko yng husband niya nurse dun and wala naman daw ganoong policy ang hospital.. na PF ng OB is 50K ( discounted na nga daw kaya 30K na lang).and ulitin ko
 - dun lang ako nanganak
- di ako dun nagpapacheck up. sa healthway lagi pre natal ko kasi me sched dun ang OB ko
 - and ala sa akin ginawang "serious " medical procedure nung nag pa work up ako.. except taking some fertility pill... yun lang.. and for that u will charge me a50K PF? di ba?

Nga pala my OB is  Dra. Sheila Illescas..sobrang machika sya and i never thought na icharge niya ako mg ganung kalaki.. on my 2nd day sa hospital tinext ko sya sabi ko kala ko 60K ang charge sa small privae ng medical city.. and sinabi niya sa akin.. madami daw ginawang procedure sa akin.. siguro nga true enough kasi 17 hours akong nag labor and nasa labor suite na ako ng hospital till mag 10 cm ako.. pero that's beside the point... iba yung hospital charge sa PF niya no.. i really hate her.. kaya pala nung last 2 weeks ng prenatal ko libre na..sabi ko sa loob ko ang bait naman... yun pala babawiin niya sa PF eh nakita ko lang naman sya once . nung nasa labor na ako. and yung 2nd visit niya.. dapat lalabas na ako on the 2nd day. eh since lumalagare sya sa ibang clinic di niya ako napuntahan so i was force to stay in the hospital for 3 days kakahintay sa kanya..

mataas talaga maningil ng PF dr sa medical city, but others naman nakikipagnegotiate din lalo na close sila sa patient, in your case nadaan ka ng dra mo sa chika, meron talagang ganyan mapagsamantala, lalo na medical city yan, they were thinking na me pera ka kaya med city ka nagpunta...

pasalamat ko sa OB ko during my pregnancy with miguel, when i gave birth though hindi sya ang nagpaanak sa akin dahil nasa congress sya, yung fee ng resident dr pinapattern sa OB ko, tapos a day after ako manganak, all the from romblon lumuwas sya to visit and check me in the hospital, apologetic pa nga yung isang dr coz they thought di makakarating OB ko, di nila alam na binisita ako.

Nabasa ko lately lang from Medical Observer Magazine (while waiting for my dermatolgist), according to Phil. Medical Association president, they have no control over PF's coz magkakaroon ng bias if a senior consultant for instance is allowed (but has the right also) to charge much to a resident doctor (practicing physician). But the good thing is that as a general rule PF's (on govt. hospitals rulings) is based (more often than not) on room rate (specially if charity ward) coz this serves as a sign for dr.'s to assess their patients capacity to pay. But if ur on a ''pay ward'' the hospital has no control over PF's even ur on a govt. hospital, coz the kind of treatment in terms of overall service is different for a private patient (medyo VIP approach). In a private hospital naman depends on the hospital rulings its always based on room rate (sometimes), dr.'s specialty and expertise, interpritation fees, case analysis among other reasons. But may iba that they symphatize with the patient and binababaan from their standard charge.

So in conclusion wala talaga tayo magagawa if they charge much coz they won't ask anyway if they know you can't pay. What can we do at least? Always ask for the doctor's PF receipt.

Not sure though.

@mi_bebe..i dont think TMC has a ruling on this. As ive said i know a nurse  from Medical City and he's claiming that the hospital has no policy on this.My OB is not a resident doctor form the hospital. She's affiliated with Healthway and Medical City. I guess she only had a clinic in the hospital which she is renting.I dont thing mentioning her name is not proper in the forum.Im not acusing her. My story is based on facts... that she was never transparent to me from the start about her PF.My God a 50K pf is not a joke.. and to make it look like that she has given you a favor . she gave a discount making the PF 30K.I only took the small private room and not the private one.I have an office mate who also gave birth in Medical City a year after my delivery, they only paid 60k for small private ( all in).weird?

I decided to wrote this experience, for those mommy to be to be aware on the PF's of their OB and to avoid this kind of people who taught that if you choose a hospital like TMC you're super rich na..

mga mommies! the reason i asked for the name of the OB is for us to be aware and warn the new mommies out there who are taking time to read this thread. we are giving / sharing informative opinions and i think its proper to know the culprits name. sa sobrang hirap ng buhay ngayon syempre we are searching for means kung san tayo makakamura ng consultation & PF... We are professional mommies, i'm sure we can handle the legal technicalities of this  ;)

Hi mga mommies, share din ako. I gave birth last year Aug 2007 at Dr. Victor Potenciano Medical Center, formerly Polymedic General Hospital. My OB gave discount kaya 20k PF niya and i think 50% ng PF ng OB ang bayad sa anesthesiologist.  I requested for painless delivery yun nga lang medyo may complications sa baby kaya last minute naging Emergency CS ako.. That time, wlang available na private room kaya sa semi private ako for 3 days.  my total bill was almost 75k.

This October 2008, manganganak ulit ako (CS).. same hospital, same OB.  di ko pa na check yung bagong package rates nila (tumataas yata every year eh).  Will let u know pag nakuha ko na! :)
