Bronchial Asthma
« Reply #105 on: March 31, 2011, 11:46:58 pm »

hi mga sis! i just can't help but feel so sad when i saw my 2 kids suffer from asthma... :'( sobrang hirap na hirap sila lalo na sa gabi. my daughter already had asthma way back, mga 1 y/o ata sya nun while my son, who's turning 7 this year, was diagnosed just recently. we do not nebulize them kasi ang sabi sa akin baka maging dependent sila dun, wala rin silang inhaler for the same reason. but i don't think effective yung oral medicines na lang. :( anyone who can recommend what's the best thing to do? ano rin yung medicines na na-prescribe na sa kids with asthma? para lang ma-mention ko sa pedia nila, baka umagree naman sya to change medicines... TIA!

sis medyo late na tong reply ko ngayon ko lang nakita thread na to e..musta na baby mo..ako sis yung panganay ko din me asthma dati and as a health professional frustrating rin talaga sa kin everytime makikita ko anak ko na sinusumpong..pero ngayong 12years old na sya na-outgrow niya na asthma niya thanks god :).. anyway, to answer your question..nebulization pa din at inhaler ang best treatment for asthma sis..yan ang lagi prescribe ng mga pulmonologist namen..even my daughters pulmo-pediatrician yan ang pinapagawa sa kanya..hindi naman magiging dependent ang bata just because gagamitan mo nyan..kakaloka naman yang pedia mo..hindi din kasi masyado advisable ang oral meds kasi pag oral bago mag-effect it needs to be absorb by the body first bago pa makarating sa lungs unlike with nebulization or MDI (meter dosed inhalers) direcho agad sa lungs kasi nga inhalation ang process ng administration nito..kakaiba naman sis yang pedia ng anak mo ngayon lang ako nakarinig ng pedia na hindi nagrecommend ng nebulization for treatment of asthma..e yung anak ko nga nung baby sya when she was first diagnosed with it naprevent confinement niya sa hosp kasi naagapan ng nebulization e :)

ngapala sis di ba paalis ka na..if nandito ka pa and around ortigas you might wana try attending the free asthma education seminar sa medical city every first and 3rd saturdays of the month 1-5pm..its very informative me libreng snacks pa hehe..

No Link between Folic Acid Supplements and Childhood Asthma

Find out how a recent study proves the lack of association between folic acid supplementation and childhood asthma.

I suffered an asthma attack last month. I woke up 2AM having difficulty in breathing. I felt like there was a heavy block of cement on my chest. Good thing I had Usana Health Science. I took the optimum dosage and in less than an hour I was able to breathe and was back to normal. Thank God for Usana!

My nephew had asthma since he was 3. His attacks were mostly triggered by smoke & dust.  Pag new year tuloy kinukulong siya sa room.

His mom who was desperate to find a long term solution tried the vegetable health drink on him.  Good thing nagustuhan niya, kasi dalandan juice yung lasa and he's been taking it regularly for the past 10 months.  The good news is noong December whereas before yan yung time na madalas ang attacks
once lang nangyari and then until now hindi na naulit.

We hope tuluy tuloy na yung magandang effect sa kanya.

my 9 year old son has allergy which could lead to asthma,,sometimes kapag hes expose dun s allergens e sinisipon sya,,wen he was 3 or 4 years old nag allergy skin test sya to determine yung mga allergens..den wen he turned 5 years old nag start n kami ng allergy shots wherein hes introduce dun s allergens, the shots was every week for 6 mnths then every 2 weeks for 6 mnths,,right now my son's shot is every 4 weeks thats also for 6 mnths,,hindi n ganun kadalas yung sumpong ng allergy niya
my son's pedia is a pedia allergologist s UST
i also avoid to expose my son dun s mga allergens,,its good thing that nag skin test sya para i know yung mga allergens
kapag matindi yung allergy niya he is given steroids din,coz un lang naman talaga ang preffered med, dont worry too much s steroids, basta follow doctors advice,,steroids is only given 5-7 days,do take steroids only with doctors advice
i hope it helps u mommy friendlee

hi mommy,

Hello mommies!

Its a good thing na meron thread na ganito dito sa SP. I can so relate at marami ako natutunan. Mommies how old ang anak nyo nung madiscover nyo na may asthma sila?

May asthma din son ko. He is 1 year and 4 months now. Nalaman namin just last month lang). Sinipon sya tapos inubo at nagkaroon ng hingal. Pina-check up agad namin sa pedia niya. She prescribed ventolin nebule (every 6 hours), antibiotic & Meptin (anti-asthma). Naging okay naman sya after medication. Kaya lang wala pang isang buwan (just last Sunday Sept.18) inatake ulit sya. This time mas malala kasi hindi na sya makadede kahit gusto dumede dahil sobra ang hingal at hirap sa paghinga. We went to his pedia ulit. This time niresetahan sya ng Prednisone (oral steroids), combivent nebule, & Meptin. May kamahalan 3k pero this would help daw para malabanan niya ang mga virus and allergens that would trigger the asthma.
