about baby's middle name
« on: September 07, 2010, 06:32:02 am »

Hi mommies!!!This is about my daughter's birth certificate. Actually, she doesn't have middle name because the midwife said that it would like we're siblings.I've already read the family code and it said there that it is right. But here is the thing, I am just thinking about the time when she goes to school. Of course, kids nowadays are so different. And I don't wanna add burden to my daughter like kids will question her and so on.Of course, I am not thinking of myself as well like it will be easier if I get married in the future. When I called the registrar, they've said that some parents did it because schools especially Catholic school asks for their children's middle name. So, I could easily change it.Do some of the mommies here already did it?How much ba ang palagay ng middle name?Or any advice?

naku lagot, ganun ang ginawa ko kay baby. i put my middle name as his middle name as well. so, parang magkapatid talaga kami. conflict kasi yung cases sa supreme court about this eh. wala talagang hard and fast rule. di naman kasi very precise yung family code (tama ba, sis magilas?). parang you may, or may not do.

as to how much? i think you need to file a case for correction of entry with the court. di kasi ito pwedeng over the counter ng local civil registrar eh.  adding a middle name is not a "clerical error". para lang yun sa mga maling spelling, that doesn't change paternity or gender.

magagastusan kayo dito mommy. you have to allot about P50-P100K para lang dito.  :'(  but, the proceedings naman are very fast, mga 4-8 months siguro.

bakit naman lagot mommy?okay nga iyo eh hehe pra sa akin...actually, i called registrar twice, just to make sure. I even asked them if this kind of case need to go into the court. Sabi naman nila eh hindi..just present the birth certificate and window 1 lang daw ako pumunta.Pero di nila alam kung magkano..malalaman ko pa pag pumunta ako sa registrar.

really? at least that's a relief! it's not so much as correction of entry pala, baka it's a matter of "completing" the document. hmnnn...buti naman. :)

i-update mo na lang yung post mo for other mommies without middlenames nina babies!  ;D

ps. ang dapat ko pa lang ginawa, eh used my maiden surname as my baby's second name.  para, kahit mag-asawa ako, at ma-adopt sya, laging andun ang surname namin. hehe.  ;)

I think you should be consistent with what is written  on the NSO registered birth certificate..

hello mommy. Good morning! So wala kang ilalagay dun.

same with me sis, wala akong middle initial noong dalaga pa ako.

I want to register my baby with my own middle name and surname. pero ayaw pumayag nung nasa city hall. anong ginawa nyo para mailagay ko yung middle name ko sa anak ko? I just want him to have a "complete" name...

Same situation here... I'm not sure but I was told n pwede pala gamitin ni baby kahit middle name ng parents ko just in case hinde iallow sa City Hall na gamitin ni baby yung middle name ko. Kung true nga un, nanghihinayang ako na late ko nalaman yun eh di sana somehow my "complete name" talaga yung son ko... :(
