i have PCOs too prior to getting pregnant last 2006. i remember my ob, dra. arlene bravo and i performed an ovulation process.. and it did work! one shot lang and i conceived. ;)

ask your doctor too! most of my friends transferred to my ob all for the same reason that they wanted to get pregnant. and they all did. we are all mommies now. i think 3-4 friends of mine conceived after i referred them to my ob.

Hi sis grace^
I have PCOS also. 2 years din kami nag try ni hubby before we got pregnant.
You can check if you have PCOS thru TVS (transvaginal ultrasound). Mache-check kung may mga follicles present in either or both of your ovaries. As per my OB, best time to have TVS to check PCOS by 2nd to 3rd day of your PMS.
Kapag PCOS kasi, hindi tayo nag-oovulate. and kapag hindi nag-ovulate, di rin tayo mabubuntis.
Yung OB ko, she just prescribed me with Metformin. yun lang, then excercise and watch yung diet. ayun, nakabuo din kami.
Pero may mga ginawa rin pala sa akin before yung timing contact. Yung Hydrotubation. Parang finlush ng 'water' yung 'tubes' para clear and ready fro the timing-contact.

I can refer my OB to you. She's affiliated at St. Luke's; Manila Doctor's ; and Cardinal Santos:

Dra. Joan Tan-Garcia
OB-Gyne
Reproductive Endocrinology, Infertility & Menopause Specialist

Good Luck sis. And best of all, Pray to God.  ;)

Hello, everyone! I am new to this site and I hope you can all help me. I am not yet married, never been  married, but hopes to get married in due time. I recently discovered that I have a polycystic left ovary. My right ovary though is normal. I am 28 years old. My family doesn't have a history of diabetes, but my father learned that he has an elevated blood sugar. It was acquired I guess because in his mid adult life he was obese. I started gaining weight right after college. I got a bad case of acne on my face, my chest, my back, my arms, and even my thighs. My self-esteem suffered almost all of my life because of it. I've been to many dermatologists but to no avail. Now, earlier this month I had my first ultrasound and the doctor discovered that I have PCOS. I want to know who among who has suffered from the same syndrome and it has been completely cured. What medicines did your OB-GYN recommend? My OB prescribed Provera 10mg for 3 mos. Were you able to conceive after treating the syndrome? Is there hope? I cried last night with the thought that I might not be able to bear a child of my own. I haven't even been married and yet I now have PCOS. I hope you can all share what you know about PCOS. I guess not only parents are welcome to join this discussion. Parent-hopefuls like me must be in touch with real parents to know about things in life. Thanks very much to all of you!

I had polycystic ovary syndrome (both ovaries, but my left one was worst off than the right one) but it appeared when I was already in my fortys.  Due to the POVs along with myoma growths that were growing too fast, I eventually - at age 55 - had to have a total hysterectomy.  The total hysterectomy was logical in my case since I was no longer at childbearing age, and the continued growth of the myomas were quite threatening to me.  Even so, it took me almost 10 years (from age 45 when my OBGyn indicated that I might need my surgery) to decide to finally agree to the surgery.  Throughout the time that I vacillated about making a decision, I visited my OBGyn regularly and she kindly answered each and every question, and every fear I had, that I told her about.

As to your condition at your young age, I think POVs occurs because of hormonal imbalance, but it would be best for you to ask your OBGyn - including all the other questions you have.

If your OBGyn is the type who is not willing to spend a little more time with you to answer your questions, you can always opt to see another OBGyn.  My OBGyn was very honest and kind in explaining my condition to me.  You can send me a personal message if you would like to know who that OBGyn is.

some OBs say that one of the factors contributing to PCOS is your weight. why don't you try living a healthier/active lifestyle? at the same time, elevates your confidence ;)

there are quite a number of medications na available i think to treat PCOS, so i guess it depends on the patient if susceptible yung gamot sa kanya. i know some na nag conceive naman after the work up.

it would be best to also get an OB na you are super comfortable with and will answer all of your questions.

Hi sis!
there's a thread about PCOS on 'moms health'. you can see many experiences and stories about PCOS.
I have PCOS too, discovered just before i got married. Don't be saddened kasi I got pregnant after 2 years of trying to conceived.
I've been to many OBs also. Until I found the right one.
Better to loose weight, cut sweets, and have exercise.
My OB prescribed me to take metformin.
And sis, most of all, Pray to God. Nothing is impossible with Him.
God Bless.

Don't worry about it.  I got pregnant after less than 6 months on medication.  To speed up the healing process, take your meds, control your sweet tooth and cravings for carbs and exercise a little more than you should.

Hope this helps.
