Since my daughter started going to school in July, three times na pabalik-balik ubo niya. 2 weeks ago, she was diagnosed with acute bronchitis and had to take a bunch of medications plus round the clock nebulization. I felt so frustrated kase hinde naman sakitin yung anak ko pero lageng nahahawa sa classmates niya.

My daughter is almost done with her meds but sinasabayan ko na din sya ng 1 teaspoon of honey every morning. My pedia also gave her go signal dito and said na effective naman daw to boost the immune system.

medyo off topic mga sis, pero ask ko lang, ok lang ba na mag cut ng nails ni baby kahit may fever? by the way 6 years old na anak ko. sabi kasi sakin ni hubby hindi daw pwede yun pati mag cut ng hair. TIA!

Hi mommies. :) I am a newbie here in SP. I just wanna ask if I can give my 7-month old daughter Allerkid. She has mild cough and cold but no fever. Is it safe for her even without consulting her new pedia? It was prescribed by her first pedia the last time she had a mild cough, together with Erythromycin Ilosone Suspension Drops. Thanks. :)

sis Angelstar, much better siguro if you will bring your baby to a pedia for you to make sure if everything's okay. Mas mabuti pa din kasi na sila ang magprescribe ng medicine for your baby para safe. :) With my two-month old baby kasi, he got colds when we got wet during typhoon Mario (we escaped through our roof kasi we were trapped na dahil pag gising namen mag-iina, eh lampas bewang na yung tubig baha sa loob ng bahay namen, at lahat ng gamit namen sa ground floor eh basa na, no way to get outside na), after a day, eh nagmuta na sya at maririnig mo yung paghinga niya eh parang may nakabara, although wala naman syang fever nun pero humina sya dumede..so we immediately rushed him through his pedia, at sabi ng doctor, clogged nose daw and he prescribed medications, as of today, okay na baby ko..no more colds already..back to bungisngis baby na uli sya :)

^ sis, matanda na ba yung pedia mo?

my child was just less than a year old (or around 1 y/o) when he was prescribed with phenylpropanolamine. that doctor is not my child's pedia but she's the family doctor of my in-laws. she's an old doctor, around 70++ years old and her house is her own clinic na.

nung malala na yung sipon at ubo ng anak ko that time, we brought our son to that old doctor instead na sa pediatrician niya because i got scared na baka maconfine sa hospital ang anak ko and knowing that the pedia is not around that time.. ayun, tinusukan ni old doctor si baby ng antibiotics and maraming binigay na iba pang medicine, including oral antibiotics.. then after a month or two, my child got sick again. went back to that old doctor. then same thing happened. she injected antibiotics plus oral antibiotics and other meds.. but this time, higher dose of antibiotic..

then i realized, bakit parang ang hilig magbigay ng doctor na to ng antibiotics. puro nalang antibiotics. from then, never ko na binalik yung anak ko sa doctor na 'yon. doon ko na lagi dinadala sa talagang pedia niya.my son's pediatrician said na ganoon daw ang approach ng mga doctor noon.. even siya daw, dinadala ng mommy niya sa ganoon. pero old approach na daw 'yon.. kumbaga makabago na ngayon ang treatment and hindi na dapat laging antibiotics.

lately, i read somewhere that phenylpropanolamine was pulled from the US some years ago..my son's pedia never recommended phenylpropanolamine. nasal spray lang  daw for congestion. or she would presribed allerkid.

right now, my son has cough and colds. and prescribed ng pedia is alnix plux. it is a combination of phenylephrine and cetirizine..

now im wondering what's the difference between phenylephrine and phenylpropanolamine.. and w/c one is safer...
