Linea nigra (Latin for "black line") is a dark vertical line that appears on the abdomen during about three quarters of all pregnancies.

If the Linea nigra only runs from navel downwards, the baby will be a girl. But if the dark line crosses the navel up to the xiphoid process (chest), the baby is said to be a boy.

Any of this true?

First time to hear this but if it's a pamahiin, it completely failed me. Ala kc ako masyadong linea nigra when I was pregnant, and I have a boy.

probably true. girl kasi baby ko, according to the ultrasound, and yung linea nigra ko up tp belly button lang at hindi masyado dark.

by the way, where did u get this information??

^ Sis, I found the info from a pregnancy book that I am reading, "What to expect when you're expecting".
It's listed as one of the fun ways to guess the baby gender.

Not true for me.. ang haba ng itim ko nung buntis ako na parang kahit nung nanganak ako andun pa rin but months later.. voila it disappear  and it's a girL

not true..  haba din ng akin sobrang dark pa and mas thick ang line niya kesa from belly button pababa. girl din baby ko..

not true for me:) meron ako nyan regardless sa gender ng anak ko (I have a boy and a girl:) from chest down at sobrang itim talaga:)

Mine rin is a very dark line from chest to pubis area....though my ultrasound says it's 80% girl.
Ahaha~ I wonder if this pamahiin is true for me.

Yeah this is true, darker skinned women tend to get this more and it appears darker and longer daw. Got this from books and research online.

Although my line is pretty long as well, and true enough, I am expecting a boy.

This is not true for me. Girl kasi si baby. Ang haba ng linea nigra ko and very dark pa.  Then around my navel may dark patch din so mukha tuloy mata yung nakausli kong pusod.

Not true for me. I'm having a boy, and my linea nigra's not that long --- navel downwards lang.

Did a quick search on the internet and it doesn't seem like this old wives' tale holds any truth (based on various experiences of mothers).

I dd not have a linea nigra by the way, ended up having a boy.
