Need ba talaga ng Therapy?
« on: March 26, 2011, 04:07:47 pm »

Good day everyone! help!

What can you say po sa situation ng baby ko??

Aerrol is 2 years and 8 months now. My only baby.  At his age, sbi ng relatives ng hubby ko something is wrong daw s kanya! (Oouch!) Hindi pa nakaka-usap/nkkipag usap kht knino ang baby ko. But he knows/recognizes d alphabet, numbers and colors. Ang iba dito ay nasasabi niya perfectly at ang ilan naman ay bulol pa ren. Kumakanta at sumasayaw rn cia but once n mapansin ninoman ang lahat ng ginagawa niya tumitigil na cia at pag pinaulit ay ayaw na... he can't say mommy, daddy, lola, ate and d likes.. but other words like apple, acorn, balloon ay kaya niya... ok naman ang locomotor skills niya,,, he can play alone and with other children too. pag my visitors or my occassion talon-takbo-talon-takbo na walang kapaguran... umiiyak cia pag totally nasaktan or hindi naibigay ang gusto...pag pinagsasabihan animo walang narinig... magana ciang qmain - veggies, kanin, fruits, bread... i see to it na tlagang no sweets and soda. breastfeed cia up to 2 years & 5 months. now he is taking formula milk & vit. C. n22log cia every afternoon...watch Tv pero minimal lang at pulos commercials lang ang gusto.. twice lang cia ngksakit and dat's because of feverish and colds... pag tinawag ang name niya once lang titingin at hindi n masusundan pa... minsan nga parang maloko na rn kc when sum1 calls his name titingin s ibang side tas mgsmile...we checked his EENT at ok naman daw.. no history both sides of having special child.. accdng to his pedia maaaring late or slow ang dvelopment ni utoy...

help! need b tlagang ipadoktor ko n c utoy? paranoid lang ba ang mga in-laws ko at laging naco-compare c utoy... should i be firm s cnasabi ko na aerrol is very fine lang tlaga and need time to advance in his other skills... . therapies, sessions and doctors are expensive which i think we can't afford to...simple lang po ang buhay ng pamilya ko.

thanks po sa inyong lahat...

in my opinion mom don't worry muna kasi yung baby ko nakapagsalita lang ng maayos when she is about 3.2 years old now that she's 3.6 super daldal na and before talagang nagwo worry ako nakakaparanoid naman talaga lalo na pag nakakita ka ng bata na same age niya tapos ang daldal and sabi mo nga kapag tinatawag naman siya eh lumilingon siya minsan lang may pagka naughty ganyan din baby ko pag tatawagin ko and umiiral yung pagka naughty eh talagang medyo lilingon lang tapos naka smile naman ang alam ko kasi sa special child kahit na tawagin mo ng tawagin eh hindi lilingon kaya wag munang mag worry soon magiging madaldal na rin  at sila na ang magsasawang sumagot sa mga questions ni utoy ....

A-2-3 months delay in speech and language development is grounds for a Developmental pediatrician consultation. ;)

i used to say "darating din kami dyan or makakapagsalita na din baby ko" nung 2 to 2.3yo sya.  but since 1.8mos sya i was a little persistent sa pedia ko on asking what next move should we take. hintay lang daw muna. contrary to other moms na na-encounter ni pedia, im the one who is open to having my baby checked daw. si pedia ayaw muna but i heed her advise. so my son was 2yo na when she agreed on letting him see a developmental pedia, sya ang nagbigay ng name ng doctor at isiningit niya kami since getting an appointment is so hard talaga.  on the first assessment, merong konting locomotor (gross and fine) ang delayed sya. sa language talagang obvious yung delays niya. i heard expensive ang consultation (2,500) but for peace of mind and for baby most especially, kaya go.

very few words lang ang with meaning niya (car, light) at di rin kami matawag. sometimes he says dada but not always pertaining to his dad. no academic background pa. he used to be playful with sounds pero di ko lang matandaan when he slowed down. hyperactive din minsan. picky eater and we had appetite booster na rin. nagstart syang umayaw sa food nung 1yr 4mos when my youngest was born. hindi rin sya tabain. he wouldnt look when called at nakafocus sa tv. (di rin maiwasan ang tv kasi pag nasa condo ka, boring at nakakalungkot kaya the yayas resort to tv rather than going outside at magtsismis).

we started having OT right away kasi di pa ready for speech therapy si baby. it's already 6months (with absences in between) pero nababagalan ako. di ko rin matutukan kasi im working and we cant be so sure kung everyday e napapractice nga niya sa bahay with ate lalo na i also have a younger baby pa at home. OT session is around 450-500/hr. 2x a week ang advise samin. now his teacher said my son is doing well but still cant focus totally. he easily gets distracted. yung speech niya ganon pa din.

i postponed our 3rd visit to the dev pedia kasi malamang sasabihin we're still not ready for ST. kaya more OT muna kami for 2months tsaka kami pupunta sa kanya baka by that time e ready na si kuya.

i just learned last month, si regular pedia pala meron ding son na labeled with autism. he is now 7yo and mainstream na daw.

to mommyl_lorna_gee, buti nga baby mo knows the alphabet and others. but it's better to see a dev pedia dahil meron syang speech delay.  from what i've read here, kahit nakakapgsalita na ang baby natin pero kung hindi tugma sa age still they need intervention.

good luck to us!

with Occupational Therapy? NO wala namang machines. some of the things  na tinuturo sa house but of course, mas focused at proper way of teaching sila. that's the price we pay (siguro for moms who dont have enough time to bond/teach their kids).  but that's not the only factor, syempre si baby din mismo, kung talagang delayed sya it will be a little hard to teach him/her. so the OT comes in.

so far eto pa lang ata ang na-ta-tackle nila. gross motor, fine motor (activities that help his hand and eye coordination, pinching, mga ganon).  konting academic din. next meet nila mag try sila to let my son feed himself. ano pa ba. meron ding konting massage. one of the things na naappreciate ko is my son knows how to pack away (with the help of the therapy). though sa bahay on off yon pero automatic na daw pagdating sa school alam na niya gagawin niya.  sensory integration. yung eye contact wala pang malaking improvement. kasi hanggan ngayon di sya lumilingon when called or he does pag feel lang niya. no medicines kami it depends siguro kasi me ibang kids don on meds sila. wala ring food restrictions other than G6PD related  (G6PD kasi son ko).

yung speech naman hindi pa kami nakaka advance don kasi yung attention span niya medyo di pa ganon katagal.

yes parang schooling lang na one-on-one. table tasks, tapos me physical (balancing/walking on beams, jumping, etc.) depende yan sa delay ni baby mo. kami kasi delayed sa eye and hand coordination, personal and social, lalo na sa hearing and speech.  depende naman sa assessment kung saan sila magfofocus ng OT.

Slightly different yung experience namin. We were lucky to get a pedia who is also a developmental pediatrician, and early on siya ang nag-tetest and nag-pupush sa amin na mag therapy.

Initially, nag-try kami ng Center for Developmental Pediatrics sa Medical City primarily to address speech delays. But our schedules, and living in Makati made it very difficult to stay regularly. Plus nagkasakit pa siya twice last year.

Now that we live in Ortigas though, our pedia recommended naman Occupational Therapy for our son and so far maganda yung progress niya in speech and other areas.

I understand why some people avoid therapy also, but in our case because medyo delayed and we wanted our son to be able to express himself better (nagiging violent siya dahil sa frustration in communication), we felt it was worth it.

hi mga mommies..

9 this morning nagpa-assess kami kay Dra. Marizel Pulhin-Dacumos, Helping Hands clinic at Batangas City. her present impression about my son, Aerrol, is Communication Disorder and T/C Autistic Spectrum Disorder... lhat daw kc ng symptoms(fleeting eye contact, deviant language, regression of skills/no pointing - hand pulling to indicate needs, inconsistent response to name calling...) ng Autism ay ma-oobserv s kanya. Upon her advise, 2x a wik ang Occupational Therapy niya... 500/session... His speech therapy will be followed after 4 months if and ever there are developments for his previous month-therapy... Masakit tanggapin, I almost cried in d clinic upon hearing the result of my son... AUTISM... its a life - long condition that will get worst if you will not do anything at an early age... as a light of HOPE, sinabi ni dra. na dont wori, upon getting the right therapist/therapy at follow-up s bahay yung mga weaknesses ni baby ay mapapalakas, he will be normal before 7 seven yo...

Im a teacher pero kahit may kakayanan akong magturo na tulad ng ginagawa ng mga therapist still i need the help of a specialist...

Dra. dAcumos has also a clinic in St. Luke's and Medical Center Manila...

thanks po for reading...update ko again kyo
