Bawal maglista ng price sa supermarket
« on: May 24, 2011, 05:30:37 pm »

I was inside a big supermarket chain this afternoon, nagcacanvass ako ng prize ng diaper and so i bought pen and notebook. Sabi ko i'm a mom i need to canvass mga bibilhin ko (kung san mas mura). Sabi its a policy daw that they have. I was able to talk to their supervisor for customer service and also store manager, i was given a rewards card. I filled out complain form. Kasi feeling ko criminal ako at nagnakaw, that is the reason why i complained. I think yung approach yun mali, should have referred me to Customer Service department instead of scolding me. I dont want to name names... pero big supermarket siya. I even suggested na maglagay sila ng karatula na bawal maglista.

Yun lang mga sis, sharing so you'll know.

Yes they don't. Unfortunately.
I was still in college when I found out. I was doing a market study, which includes the price, of a certain product.

I never tried na again. I don't think they wil broadcast talaga kaya siguro nila sinasabi in person.
Baka di lang marunong yung kumausap sayo kaya ganun.

What I do now is to list the prices in my phone. :D Mas hindi obvious.

Sa grocery budgeting naman so i could keep up with the price increase, I have an excel spreadsheet ng grocery namen itemized with prices. I-print that and dinadala ko sa kapag nag-go-grocery para makita ko kung nagtaas. Basta para may benchmark ako from the last grocery.

Yea they dont have karatula... ang nakakainis dyan i looked like a shoplifter. I'm fond of writing stuff kasi eh. Even if CP dala mo they will never know that you are listing down something. What if you have a list of grocery items na kailangan mo bilhin and you write down yung prices, its the same.
I will never go back to that supermarket chain anymore, anyways mahal naman sila magbenta  >:(

Hi just_memom, sad to say bawal po talaga.. its a store policy actually across all grocery stores except the smaller ones siguro. Even using cell phone as a mode of taking notes eh bawal po talaga if they "caught you"  There are lots of competitors po kasi who do the market survey / research or price survey of their competitor. Taking picture is not allowed as well. There are mystery shopper kasi (what we call them) to conduct price survey kaya they are very strict when it comes that...

what we could do po siguro si to do it discreetly..

@ mommy zhel - if i were not scolded i would never know sis promise :) I knew it after they (CS Supervisor and Store Manager) explained to me. Embarrassed kasi yun nafeel ko nun kaya sharing to everyone here para hinde na maulit :)

Oo nga eh, pero i did it to other supermarkets, no problem naman sis. Kaya nga i wonder why this is the only time na nangyari ito.

Hmmm. May point si just_memom. As a consumer, right ko yung tandaan ang prices ng products sa supermarket, care ko sa policy nila ?(oops, parang hindi Mod oh)  Don't they have at least a regulation na they require the Manager's approval before a customer can take notes?
I think I have to visit the DTI website to read more on consumer's rights.

Mommy ako, i need to be smart in terms of buying products (kaya nga nasa smart parenting tayo heheh). I think sinabi naman sa akin na i can request daw for list of products na gusto ko and they will provide me yun price, pero naisip ko sobrang hassle yun, i will go the the customer service section just to get prices, faster if ililista ko nalang nga.

Alam ko na, I did this before when I needed to compare dept. store prices pero appliances yung tinitingnan ko. What I did is, I recorded my voice on my cel. I was pretending may kausap ako sa cel pero nirerecord ko yung prices. When I got home, I listened to my voice recording and listed down the items and amount.

I don't understand kung bakit ayaw nilang ipalaista on the spot. Maybe if I own a grocery myself, I would know. Baka there's this security, competitor strategy  thingy that they don't want the customers to know or further explain?

Hi mommies from what i know po their reason is they don't want their prices to be compared with other supermarkets kasi tendency if Grocery 1 has a lower price and Grocery 2 is higher they could initiate a promo (in-house) like bundling or tie-up with other products to make their items much cheaper than Grocery 1.  hope it helps :)

yes, ganun talaga even in dept stores. i work in retail and ginagawa din namin yun to check the competitors prices. hehe pero CP ang gamit namin kahit sa pictures (kasi bawal din ang camera). kaya pati consumers affected.

kahit nga magpicture ng window display bawal sa mall e. i was doing a project nung college about window displays and sinita ako ng guard sa highend na boutique, bawal nga daw. sabi ko idedelete ko na lang (pero sa totoo hindi, hahaha!)

@ ea_brea - sis i see, pero walang kamuwang muwang ang mga consumers and wala naman harm na gagawin ang isang mommy sa prices na makukuha niya. Well anyways they cannot distinguish a mom from a spy nga naman. But i did it also on department stores specially sa SM (probaby because they knew me already). Well, thanks for sharing sis:)
