Can radiation harm the baby?
« on: November 20, 2008, 12:19:37 am »

hi mga mommies, I'm new here, medyo worried lang kasi ako, I'm now on my 26th weeks, may nakapagsabi kasi sa kin na narinig niya sa radio about yung radiation n nakukuha sa tv, monitor at phone, nagiging cause daw un ng autism kay baby, dapat daw kung manonood k ng tv 5-6m away pati sa monitor, diba masyado malau hehe. totoo kaya un, tapos, ugali ko kc ilalagay ko yung cell ko sa tummy ko, ginagawa ko sya mp3, un gamit ko para makapagparinig ako kay baby ng mga songs, masama ba un? help naman, medyo paranoid ako dito eh, d ko muna pinapatugtugan c baby from my cell.

Thank you!

hi mommy, congrats on your pregnancy may you have a safe delivery :)  with regards to radiation, ako kasi ugali ko na talagang medyo malayo manood ng tv, kasi i want to protect my eyes.  yes, i was advised also not to put my cellphone near my tummy or my head kaya pag natutulog ako yung cellphone ko medyo malayo sakin mga 2 arms stretched ang layo.  also microwaves had a high radiation. so if you'll use one, either let someone heat the food for you or get away from it while your food is being warmed up.

with regards to music, i've read somewhere that it's a no-no if you put the speakers of the radio or earphones directly to your tummy.  noon sabi mas maganda yung ganun para marinig ni baby.  i think i read it from reader's digest that instead of helping the baby, doing so, we're actually damaging the baby's hearing.   logical nga naman since kulob sya sa loob, the sound waves to & fro lang sa loob so it hits him more than it should.  so ako, even with my first born, when i listen to the music i use our component instead of using earphones put directly on my tummy.  besides it also gives me the energy to do my scrapbook with a background music.  just my two cents  ;)

Your First Line of Defense

Pregnancy and Radiation
If you're expecting, you probably know how many things that you are told to avoid. You shouldn't take over the counter medications without checking them through your doctor first. You shouldn't lift anything over 20 pounds in your last trimester, and you shouldn't smoke, drink or do drugs. Do you know about the dangers associated with your hair dryer, your television and your computer? It is essential to your health and the health of your unborn baby that you find out! Here is some important information for you.

Electromagnetic Radiation and Pregnancy –

When you sit at the computer, run your microwave oven or talk on your cell phone, you are exposed to something called electromagnetic radiation. What this radiation is can be explained as a kind of energy that is emitted from these devices and appliances in waves. This energy has been known to disrupt and damage cells within the body and cause free radicals. This has also been linked to cancer, brain tumors, interference with the blood brain barrier and even a higher risk of miscarriages in pregnant women who have been exposed to it.

In fact, according to a study conducted in San Francisco and published in the journal Epidemiology, you should pay close attention to how much electromagnetic radiation you are exposed to. This study utilized over 900 women who were less than 10 weeks pregnant. Dr. K. Li and his colleagues asked these mothers to wear a monitor for 24 hours in order to measure their exposure to this type of radiation. Upon comparison of the exposure and the outcome of the pregnancy, the findings reported that the women with higher exposure to electromagnetic radiation had an 80% increase in the risk of miscarriage. This is a huge risk to take! Here are some tips on how to avoid this problem.

Limit your use of the computer, cell phone and other appliances known to emit electromagnetic radiation during your pregnancy. Talk as little as you can on a cell phone and do not stay on the computer for long amounts of time with each sitting.

There are buffers which you can purchase that allow you to be shielded from electromagnetic radiation. In fact, you can purchase room buffers that shield you from the radiation coming from several appliances at once. There is even jewelry that does the same thing.

There are devices which are clipped on your laptop computer and cell phone that shield you from absorbing this electromagnetic radiation and keeps you and your unborn baby safe from electromagnetic radiation. In fact, some of these buffers and devices actually help your body to become stronger and fight off these waves of radiation.

Learn what you can about electromagnetic radiation in order to keep your family and your baby safe. Do research, find out the truth and take proactive steps to prevent yourself from being damaged by electromagnetic radiation. Utilize the tips and ideas above to help you in this process so that you will be happy and your little one will be happy as well!

Topic namin ni hubby yung autism the other day. Sabi niya, "it sad that everybody is linking everything to autism."

autism is a BIG?
ang alam ko there's somthing wrong with genes of the baby.
pwede sabihing for the 1st trimester, the age of your baby development were in masyadong mabilis ang development ng cell division and its very delicate laluna sa radiation spc.

mommy you need to exercise  :)
You need to move those legs para mag circulate ang blood  :)
Its ok naman mag computer as long as hindi naman yun lang ang ginagawa mo, you need to have other activities na healthy for the course of your pregnancy  :)

hmmm. i think ok lang naman nakababad sa pc. just as long as tumatayo ka every now and then para magalaw galaw mo naman yung mga muscles mo. like me, i spend many hours in front of our pc.
