Hi mga sis. My daughter is three and a half years old already but I notice that her speech development is too slow. I mean she can speak with 3-4 words na which is based sa isang progress chart eh pasok naman sya. However, I'm not sure if she really left behind in her speech or super paranoid lang talaga ako and keep comparing with others na same age niya. At isa pa, is it OK lang ba na puro "po" sya. But with regards to logic and analyze super OK sya and I can say na magaling sya ron. Please have time to advice naman ako. I need motivations and encouragement not to be paranoid or to do something good for her speech. Thanks a lot.

With my kids, yung boy ko ang mas mabilis nakapagsalita. Matatas din bumigkas. While my eldest daughter starts using single word when she was two. Tapos nung mag 3 years old, saka sya nakakapag sentence although di complete but can be understood.

Dapat daw kc, you should be patient in listening to your daughter/son while they where talking. Kc kinakapa pa nila yung words. Just encourage your child to talk and wait for her to finish. Correct her words by repeating what she has said. Para di rin sya mapahiya. Like "yan po mommy po shoes ko po". you should repeat it correctly by answering her " opo, yan po shoes ni (kids' name). Using opo and po by that early age is not really bad. Maganda na ring kakaugalian na nila. Sa mga anak ko, they learn to answer correctly whenever they have conversation with their lolo and lola with  po and opo and my in-laws were so happy kc magalang ang bata.

They are in learning process kaya being a mother, you should be ready to listen and to teach them patiently. Nakakalito rin kc for the child to halo the english and tagalog. Imagine my kids speak 4 language: mandarin, fookien, english n tagalog. :)

Just encourage your daughter to talk and be patient in listening is the key for it.

Hi mommy RXmom,

Thanks for your advice. I appreciate your time to comment here in my post. Consultation is good also. Pero siguro tyagain ko muna sa ngayon.

To mom Lykeil,

Thank you so much for that very detailed response po. You know as I read your advice, super na-enlighten ako. Na tama ka talaga sis. I should keep in my mind na iba iba talaga mga kids at kanya kanya ang development. By this time nakakabuo naman sya ng sentences eh kahit parang barok lang kasi nga sa dami ng "PO". And super nabuksan isip ko with your advice na maging PATIENT and GOOD LISTENER ako sa kanya. Kasi talaga nag-e-english sya with halo ng tagalog. Salamat talaga nang marami... I will keep those things in my mind po.

God bless and super thank you!

Iba iba ang development ng kids..........like my eldest (boy)..nung baby niya ang bilis magsalita na hindi mo maintindihan.  Nag worry din ako kasi delay din ang speech niya at age 3yo unlike my daughter, 3years and 4mos. old, grabe ang galing masalita at fluent english pa...as in complete sentence.  Walang pang 3, complete sentence na siya magsalita.

Take it easy, always observe muna pag walang improvement then that's the time na pa consult si baby.

hi mga mommies!

ako din po worried sa son ko. he is 14mos old. yet he still can't walk without support and only babbles syllables. though earlier, siguro 5mos siya nun, he uses mama baba na, pero it stopped til now minsan lang and he parang he doesn't associate it to us. minsan lang pagsobrang inis na niya o frustrated o if he's not feeling well he'll use mama to get my attention. pag-gusto niya na pansinin siya he'll just shout or makes a sound. last chech-up niya, it was brought to our attention by his pedia, kc i ask na nga if okay lang at his age na hindi pa siya nagsasalita or naglalakad. His pedia brought out some things, like a ball, doll and bell.. She ask our son point the bell or get it. pero kinuha ng son ko un ball kasi dun siya familiar. Sabi niya na un nga medyo alarming un sa di paggamit ni baby ko ng mama and dada.. or any word. dapat daw by this time kahiy un mga usual things na gamit ni baby like cup or others he can tell or point. but she said observe p namin within the months. pero she recommended na a dev pedia, kasi nga matagal makakuha ng appointment and puwede naman daw ipacancel pag-okay na si baby. she recommends Dr. Agnes Falcotelo. btw, di ko namention sa pedia niya na he likes spinning wheels and circular objects kahit un mga buttons sa damit, ngayon ko lang kasi nalaman it is a sign pala of autism.

til now di pa kami nakapagpaappointment, marami kasi nagsasabi na ganun daw talaga mga bata lalo na lalake, mas matagal magsalita. pero parang my mind tells me na i should consult na a dev pedia. tapos we left manila pa kasi si hubby sa clark nagwowork, wala makalaro un baby ko na ibang kids. i'm considering na nga to enroll him to school o daycare kaso baka wala pa tumanggap. and unti lang din dito sa pampanga un mga centers for toddlers.

just want to ask your opinions mommies.. is it early pa, should we wait til 18mos?
thanks in advance!

@mommy otsowaloeyt08............patience sis and observe.....ikaw ang mommy kaya malalaman mo kung anong problem....why your kid is acting that way....

Parang totoo ata pag lalaki delay ang speech......mine was like that delayed nga.  Takot nga ako sa panganay ko kung ano ano ang naiisip ko na baka may ADHD......pero he's a normal boy makulit lang talaga.

Mommies, kung worried kayo about your baby.....unang pa check niyo yun eyesight and hearing.  Tapos observe lang.....bigyan niyong toys.... let them play on the floor (with rubber mats ha para hindi mauntog) or playpen...give them educational toys, construction toys, puzzles tutal ganyan din naman ang gagawin ng developmental pedia - OBSERVE.  Sa mga delay maglakad, pag more than 1 1/2yo na si baby at hindi pa rin maglakad better consult your pedia.....sigurado mag therapy yan.

Magandang gabay din ang playpen............for playing, walking around, standing.

My pedia did not advise walker.....kasi pag pinipilit ng maaga si baby maglakad using walker pwede ito ang cause ng sakang, piki.....

1yr2m for me is too early to tell unless hindi pa sya nakakaupo or stand or mga ganong obvious. my son walked a few steps on his own mga 1y4m na. he babbles and shouts at hindi naman lahat pareparehas ang development. i actually brought to pedia's attention ynug sa speech niya, no words with meaning lalo na at age 1y8m. pero hinintay pa rin ni regular pedia kasi baka delayed lang. she didnt know i began searching for dev pedias.

based lang ito saamin ha, if your child looks ok, i mean physically ok naman and no alarming behaviors like that, at speech lang ang tingin nyong problem, the doctor may not be able to assess clearly kapag below 2yo sya. wala pa namang masyadong skills and some are about to be developed pa. sabi din mas ok i-assess kapag 2yo na ang bata.

so there goes, hindi ako satistifed sa assessment nung 1y8m sya. then nung nag 2yo at wala pa sya nasasabing words nirefer na kami kay dr falcotelo. again, sa anak ko, hindi sya nag diagnose or put labels nung 1st visit. kasi she needs to see kung gano kabilis ang progress niya after therapy. second visit was heartbreaking when she said ASD daw yung sa anak ko.

no spinning of wheels yan ha, no lining up of cars din. iba iba naman ata per bata e.  i just hope na mild lang sa anak ko though wala naman syang binabanggit. pero as his mom malakas naman paniniwala ko magiging maayos anak ko. yun lang kulang kami sa followup sa bahay.

sis, you can try dr falcotelo. recommended sya ng doctor namin and moms from SP din.

@rozzy - hi sis, magka edad daughter natin...

to make your mind and heart kampante, i advice na ipa-evaluate mo daughter sa developmental pedia.

may daughter naman is very malikot at makulit and worried na may behaviorial problem, napa-refer ako sa pedia niya ng dev. pedia sa FEU-NRMF (Dra. Rita de Guzman). Thanks God, turn out na mataas ang cognitive skills niya kaya sya malikot at makulit, her skills are ahead than her age. kaya now, kampante na isip namin.

mas maganda mapa evaluate mo kasi,if ever na meron delays, early ang intervention.  maganda rin naman daw yong praning tayo minsan when it comes to our kids kasi mas naaaddress ng maaga ng problema if meron. matagal nga lang pumila. it took us 3 months to wait jana's schedule.

My daughter wasn't talking yet when we brought her to the Dev Ped, she was 1year and 9 months old already. She's now 4 years and 5 months old. She just started talking last year. The words are coming one at a time. She's not yet conversational but she can express better now. She can say open, give, hi, bye, mama, daddy, milk, etc. She can also sight read already. This was the product of her "Your Baby Can Read" videos. She can sight read about 50 words. She can identify numbers 1-10, almost all the letters, colors and shapes.

She started her speech therapy when she was almost 3 years old already. Finding one is the most difficult. We lined up 6 months before we were given a slot. It was worth it because they are really good. Her speech now is improving slowly but surely. One word at a time. We're patient and we're happy already. It lessened her tantrums.

Hello po. Im a new member.
Natapos po ang Early Intervention niya last July 22 and he was re evaluated last July 25. Nun 2nd visit namin the Developmental Pedia told us na Expressive Language Delay daw yun son ko and not Autism. Although my son is not yet talking in 2 word phrases pero may Social Communication siya at may gestures kaya nawala yun suspect for Autism. Now my son is 2 yrs. & 3mos. He is attending toddler class and SPED.  Its true that EARLY INTERVENTION is the best. If we suspect something wrong with our child dapat ma evaluate agad.

so true mommy ELENRN...
EARLY INTERVENTION is the best...
