@riddermark: ganyan din naman ang diagnosis kay baby, mga similar age as yours at that time. pero, the doctor noted the "tendency" ng male boys sa family to be delayed sa speech, pero ok naman sila when they grow up. advanced in some areas, in some above average, then yun nga may delay sa speech.

pareho ni sweetgirl, as soon as he was exposed to regular school, super great improvement, pero syempre, bulol pa in most parts, and being the OC mom that i am, parang ako lang ata ang nakakaintindi 80% of his words then, kasi super bilis magsalita. sometimes, there's really nothing wrong, it's just a matter of being exposed to peers or yung ka-age niya. kahit anong encourage ko, ayaw, tapos, alam naman pala niya. ayaw lang niya akong kausapin ---- gusto yung playmates niya. :)

Hi Mommies! Pa-join po...

My daughter is 4yo and she's attending a regular school. My husband and I decided to give her a speech therapy. Few sessions pa lang siya ngayon pero her therapist said she's improving a lot in terms of clarity of words. There's nothing wrong with her except the clarity of speech. Same din po sa inyo, mabilis din pong magsalita daughter ko but since talagang tinutukan ko siya..everyday I give her new words. Hindi pa din nawawala yung sobrang bilis niya magsalita but so far na-lessen na. Less tv and more on activities na dapat may interaction. I'm happy naman na she's having fun learning new words and now po, pag may nakita siyang word..she trying to spell it aloud. More pictures and words po so your kid will be able to memorize the objects..(according to her therapist) It's better to seek professional advise po habang bata pa. if the assessment is good, mas ok.  :)

Hi Mommies! This is the first thing I did after we came home from my son's pedia kanina. My pedia is worried na baka may delayed nga daw si baby ko. My baby is already 18 months pero wala pa talagang concrete na words na nasasabi. He mumbles every now and then and whenever he wants to play with his toy, he says BROOM BROOM. He can say Papa pero hindi yung PAPA talaga, it's usually PAPAPAPAPA or MAMAMAMAMA.

Our pedia advised us to see a Dev. Pedia right away. I didn't know what to say pero I kept an open mind about it. Yung cousin ko din kasi napapansin daw niya na may delay sa speech ang baby ko. She's in medschool kaya pinagpa-practisan niya son ko. My son can interact naman, he can look straight into your eyes when you are talking to him, he knows how to do the incy wincy spider and he knows saw-saw suka and when you tell him to kiss you, he will.

Siguro if we sense na there's something wrong with our baby, wag na tayong maging denial. It's better to ask your pedia agad. Early prevention is the key talaga. The sooner ma-detect, the better. I'm hoping to get a schedule as soon as possible. Yung ni-recommend sa amin na doctor ay nasa Malolos, Bulacan pa and the soonest he can give us is on the 29th. Nagmakaawa ako and I asked him kung yun na ba ang soonest. I explained to him na first time parents kami and gusto lang namin malaman if may problem ba talaga ang baby namin. He will update us tomorrow if open ang 22nd ng October if not, siguro lahat na ng connection ko (meaning my cousin who is in medschool and my bf's cousin na doctor) kakausapin ko baka pwede nila kami matulungan maka-kuha ng pinaka mabilis na sched.

I am hoping and praying na sana it's nothing. Iniisip ko na lang, delayed talaga ang mga guys kahit adult na sila, delayed pa rin sila. Sorry, I'm just cheering myself up.

my child started talking 3 non monoslylabic words at 22 mos. prior to that he just points things & can only pronounce monoslylabic words (mama dada gogo upup) i read somewhere that at the ave, kids starts talking phrases & sentences at age 2. discounting that every kids learn at their own pace, i suggest parents who are still troubled regarding delayed talking to consult a developmental pedia.

^ based sa nakita ko nung pina assess ko yung anak ko, may mga activity na pinapagawa to check the gross motor skills, personal/social skills, hearing/ speech, eye/hand coordination ng bata.

^ tingin ko sis ok lang. nagdevelopmental screening ako early oct. buti na lang normal na daw sya ngayon at 24 mos. sabi nung pedia eto daw mga ages na normally pedeng tinetest for developmental delays- 24 mos, 30 mos, 36 mos.  i think, if base sa observation mo, medyo bumibilis na progress niya. kahit idelay mo na muna ng magpatest. if by 30 or 36 mos walang improvement baka puwede mo na ipatingin.

expressive words by age
(based on handouts from the hospital)

2 yo   -  100 to 250 words
2 1/2  -   250 to 400 words
3 yo   -   400 to 900 words

:) thank you mommies.

Before nung nasa toddler age palang ang daughter ko problem ko rin yan. Though natural na sa akin ang paranoid lalo na pag may mga issues sa health and development ng anak ko. Buti na lang si hubby keep on saying na OK naman anak namin. Pinasok namin sya sa regular school 4.5 yrs old and I know medyo pabulol pa sya or barok mag contruct ng sentences. Then after two months lang, ayun kita na namin improvement niya since nakakasalamuha na sya sa mga bata (only child palang kasi).

Just today it surfaced he's having problems with prepositions (on, at, in) and conjunctions (and, for, but, on). Naiintindihan niya yung sentence but if it's his turn to express himself, he can't use those properly thus changing the meaning of the sentence he's expressing.
Ang purpose ko is not that he'd be good in school sa english subject but for him to know how to express or explain himself to his teachers come grade 1. Wala ako sa classromm niya para i-interpret sa teacher niya yung gusto niyang sabihin diba?

@mommy jeanette, yung Dev Ped namin nasa 2K. We have a separate thread about Dev Peds. Members here shared their Dev Ped's rates there.
@darna88, I see flyers and offers ng Alres. I'm impressed with how they present their programs pero I haven't been there to see it for myself. I think they have summer programs pa nga.
