yes that's proven... all we need to do is pump/breastfed frequently, ito lang ang tanging nakakapag pa dami ng milk.

1. Type of Milk : Milk remaining in the bottle that has been offered to baby
Save or Dump?: Use for next feeding, otherwise discard.
Why: Bacteria from the baby's mouth may have entered the milk during the feeding. This may lead to bacterial contamination if it sets too long (though as yet there is no research available).

2. Type of Milk: Milk that has been thawed.
Save or Dump?: Save in the refrigerator for 24 hours after thawing, then discard. Do not refreeze.
Why: Milk that has been frozen has lost some of the immune properties that inhibit bacterial growth in fresh refrigerated milk.

3. Type of Milk: Milk that has been kept in the refrigerator for eight days.
Save or Dump?: Transfer to storage in the freezer, or discard.
Why: Bacterial growth is not a problem, but milk sometimes picks up odors or flavors from the refrigerator or the container.

is it normal that BM that's thawed & warmed before given to my baby tends to be really oily?  parang humihiwalay yung oil ng breastmilk from the milk?

ako rin. pag labas ng hospital as in wala talaga milk lumalabas. ang ginawa ko, pump ng pump 2hrs interval din for 1month i think. hanggang dumami yung milk ko. ngayon naman sa sobrang dami, nag do-donate nalng ako sa ibang babies kasi over na yung supply ko. masikip na rin yung freezer namin. wala na room para sa meat.

Hi Mommies.. I'm thankful to be a part of SP.  :) I've learned a lot through your sharing of ideas and experiences.  :) I've been a member since last year and this is the first time I'm going to post my concern.  I have a dilemma in breastfeeding.  I have a 2 month old baby boy and I've been trying to breastfeed him since birth kaya lang once or twice a day lang.  Mixed feeding sya kc insufficient ang milk ko. 1 oz lang na eextract through the breastpump( both breasts na un)  :( Naaawa ako pag umiiyak sya pag nauubusan ako ng milk.  I've tried Anmum lacta,Natalac and Morelac.  I'm taking plenty of fluids (soups with malunggay, water, etc) pero ganun pa rin. I am a working mom and I'm still trying para dumami pa BM ko.  Now, hindi na ako pwedeng mag start ulit to feed him directly every 2 hours kasi nga working ako so pag dating ko that's the only time ma breastfeed ko si Braigham.  I'm planning mag extract ng milk sa office starting next week ( I've learned the process of doing it and stroring of BM from mommies here in SP).  Mommies, do you have any idea kung may chance pa rin dumami ang milk supply ko?  baka kasi too late na. :(

hi moms! ako i put my expressed milk inside our chiller. till 1 week pwede sya. i sometimes smell a "different" odor coming from a chilled bmilk, i thought at first spoilt na pero when I tasted it, pwede pa at manamis namis pa! so i think so smell na yun eh normal. check your ref baka may kayabi sya na meat or ulam or anything. ako sineperate ko tlaga. sa chiller namin bmilk lang ng baby ko ang andun :)

dati i used nanny bm storage plstic bags. meron sa sm nun sa may pigeon area. try to ask the sales lady na din. ok yun kasi double zip lock. but i find it very expensive kasi weekly ang bili ko. kaya i bought evenflo bm storage BOTTLE. yung walang nipple pero naka lock sya. BPA-free pa! mas makakamura ka nun in the long run. siguro mga 300 plus lang ang 3 bottles. pero magagamit mo naman yun ng mas matagalan di ba?

hope this helps. good luck mommy!

mommies, our breastmilk is not homogenized kaya kapag na-store sa ref ay naghihiwalay talaga sila.. sayang naman ang bmilk nyo if tapon nyo na agad.. more resources on kellymom.com.

Nase-separate po talaga yung "fat". It's a healthy fat actually. There's also a soapy smell similar to "perla soap" because soaps are also made of fat. There's nothing wrong with this po.  What's important is that the milk is stored properly. Just swirl it (don't shake it) before giving it to the baby. I'm not sure if heating it is good. Baka may mawala na nutrients. I'll check out kellymom too to be sure.

hi!  im working na after 2 mos of ML,
while in the office nagppump ako for almost 3 or 4 times, question is, un first pumped milk ko around 10am un, tinatapon ko na kasi wala kaming ref sa ofc, eh di ba sabi nyo dito mga 4hrs lang pwede pag room temp ang milk? so ang next pump ko na is around 1 or 2pm, tapos throw ulit..
next is around 5pm, un ang malapit na sa uwian kasi i leave the office at 6pm, so dun ko na tinotodo ang pagpump, i get mga 3oz of milk, 1hr ang byahe ko sa past 7 sa hauz na ako, ok lang ba na un ang ilagay ko sa freezer that will last a week?kasi pagdating ko sa hauz, sa akin na dedede si baby, tama po ba ako dito? sayang po un milk na natatapon, di po ba pwede pagsamasamahin un mga milk ko na napumped ng 10am, 2pm at 5pm tapos after an hour sila un ilalagay ko sa freezer to be kept for a longer time? ???
