mahilig kasi ako sa gulay, so hindi pwedeng hindi mahilig or kahiligan ni baby ang vegetables. the most important and lasting technique, is --- if he sees the adults in the home eating vegetables. baby has gotten so used to seeing vegetable, kasi we don't eat kung wala nun. basta laging dapat may isang viand na veggies.
pero he had a phase na ayaw niya ng vegetable. nagkasakit sya, and he had to take nutrition sa dextrose, after gumaling, ayun...ayaw na niya yung usual niya.
these are the things that i did:
1. blended all the veggies or sliced them really small, and put it in the grains, pag nagluluto ng rice. sometimes we have orange rice (from carrots/squash); light green rice (from sayote); or dark green rice (from other leaves, like kangkong etc.). hirap talaga ang bata pag dahon na eh, they could separate it apart from the grains, kaya we blend it.
2. i insert vegetables in lumpiang shanghai. we had a menu, na 60% minced pechay + tuna. ok naman even for our guest na di mahilig kumain ng vegetables.
3. i put minced vegetables in his spaghetti or other soup-based dishes....the smaller the better, kung di sya mahilig. kailangan lang masanay sya..
4. when i want him to try new food, like new vegetable, madaya ako. i let him choose.
a. either he eats one color of the vegetable. "which color? the red, the green or the yellow? (green peas, carrots or corn?) if he eats at least, one, ok na sa akin, for now.
b. "which one, the big one or the small one?" -- i slice a fairly small one for him to taste, and then get a humongous piece, and both put it on a plate. obviously, he picks the smaller piece. if he likes it, he'll ask for more, if he doesn't, ok na rin. at least he tried. i do it everytime, so kahit he said no...for this day, by next week, if i give the same vegetable, and he tastes pa rin....eventually, he'll get the hang of it.

evil mommy....ahaha.
5. the best pa rin, you eat with him, and make yummy sounds, yung tipong it's really kasama sa routine...sa meals. when he doesn't like the viand, we don't cook a new one for him. he eats whatever is in the table. he's accustomed into thinking that we always eat vegetable.
6. bring him to the grocery, and let him place the vegetables in the cart. baby knows which vegetable we will buy, kasi lagi nyang nakikita, so sya na ang kumukuha.
even sa sandwich niya, he'll say..."mommy, i want egg for my sandwich.", so i put a fried egg...and then he'll say, "but where's my vegetable?"....and then, i'll smile. i just do a pechay omelet. haha.
it helps when they go to school din, and they learn about nutrition. he would say dun sa mga cousins niya, "eat your vegetable. it will make your eyes beautiful."

di ako ang nagturo, so i guess, he got it in school.
hope that helps.
