There a study that says that spoon-fed weaning is more likely to produce overweight kids and that by allowing babies to eat finger foods while weaning is more likely to produce healthier kids: http://goo.gl/vyPKu

What do you think of the study? Also, how did you wean your child? spoon-fed, baby-led or combination?

to answer the question, no i don't think so. it's up to the parents to minimize the food intake of the baby.

2. Fill your kitchen with healthy food.
When the shelves are filled up with low-fat milk, fruits, and veggies, there will be less space for unhealthy sodas, donuts, and other fattening snacks.
Donít forget to serve these healthy foods to your kids during mealtimes. And eat these healthy foods yourself! Remember, the best way to train your kids away from an obesity-prone lifestyle is through example.
