never heard about this.  and i highly doubt that this is true. before mag 1 ang baby ko may mga nasasabi na siyang words, although medyo bulol pa. at 2 years old, super daldal na siya at nakikipagkwentuhan na talaga. she's still breastfeeding till now, she's already 28 months by the way.

never heard of it. dont mean to brag but my son uttered his first word at around 5-6 months and at 1 year and 8 months he is able to tell me what he wants so he rarely cries...and he's still breastfeeding.

unsolicited advice sis if i may: go find a breastfeeding friendly pedia.

sis disagree ako dyan, breastfed mga kids ko and bunso ko til now that she's 3yo breastfeed pa rin at times pero both of them dont have delay in speech. me mga causes ang speech delay sis. one of them is sa hearing.

This is sooo NOT true! My youngest son, breastfed sya since birth. He is only 1yr old but he can now talk! like "mama, come!" "thank you" "i love you" "sorry" and a whole lot more!

Studies show that breastmilk has been and will always be the best milk for babies especially when the breastfeeding mom is also well nourished..

Most likely this is not plausible at all.

I've read various researches and studies on the benefits of breastfeeding and none about negative effects. If anything, it's most likely that other things cause language delays. An example?

A recent study found that low vitamin d levels during pregnancies produce babies who have language problems: http://goo.gl/1aow3

never heard of it at wala pa din ako nabasang ganun. May ibang reason siguro kaya nade-delay ang sppech ng bata but not because he/she's breastfed. Tama ! hanap ka na lang ng breastfeeding friendly pedia.

Yes I breastfed (til he's 3 1/2). Yes he's speech delayed. I refuse to believe there is a connection. I know of other breastfed babies, hindi speech delayed. I know of other kids who are also speech delayed and they were not breastfed.

i dont think its related... otherwise pati mga bottle fed babies dapat may speech delay din... developmental concern and speech delay which should be consulted sa appropriate therapist kasi baka may underlying reason... if breastfeeding was causing speech delay, i dont think breastfeeding would be so strongly advocated by the government and even foreign governments...
pedia ba talaga kausap ng sis-in-law mo?

hi sisses,

that is a very alarming news. speech delay due to breastfeeding?! i'm so worried because my daughter is now 2yrs and 5mos old but she still can't talk clearly. although she can already pronounce some words. one of her pedias informed us that maybe our baby is confused because she hears a lot of languages in our house (english, tagalog, and others). she advised us that we should just use one language. she didn't mention that breastfeeding is one of the reasons of the delay in her speech...

mga mommies like me,

How about, pacifiers, yung laging naka pacifier si baby causes speech development or delay of speech? =)

@ mommy shankypanky hindi rin siguro cause of speech development or delay of speech ang paggamit ng pacifier kasi dami ko kilala na gumamit nyan pero ok naman ang speech development ng mga babies nila, like mommy steffani said
baka may underlying reason behind the delay.
