At home, we feed my son when he is watching cartoons. Nagkataon na meal time yung fave cartoons niya so we take of advantage of it. Yes, bad habit nga siguro and there are some articles that discourage this practice but it works for us. Maspinili namin eto keysa hindi sya kumain. But when we eat / dine out whether at a fancy resto or a fastfood joint, wala syang toy or other distraction pero kumakain naman. If maagapan nyo, I wont encourage this practice (watching tv and eating). Better pa rin to eat at the dining table.
Dati rin hirap syang pakainin, it took us a few months to improve on this. Trial and error din. Kahit anong ulam namin, we try to feed it to him. Now he can eat afritada, adobo, sinigang, tinola, sweet and sour fish, lumpia, siomai, etc. Yung vegetables, sinasama ko sa meat and rice para hindi niya gano malasahan. Even fresh lettuce, sinasama ko kahit fried chicken or hotdog ang ulam. And pag ayaw talga nyang kumain or hindi maubos ang food, hinahayaan namin. Pilitin once or twice but if talgang ayaw, then stop eating na. This way, hindi sya traumatized sa pagkain. We also try to vary the food/ulam that we offer in a day. Pedeng ulam niya yesterday lunch, maging ulam niya for dinner today. But not same ulam for lunch and dinner that day. And then sometimes, we have pancakes, pandesal or cereals for breakfast para hindi magsawa sa rice.
He can finish more than 1/2 cup of rice during mealtimes. And he likes fruits. Sometimes he asks for orange, grapes, mango. But I also let him eat chips, chocolates, cakes, donuts, etc. for snacks but not on a daily basis. Just enough para hindi sya magsawa sa good food. Bihira na rin syang magmilk ngayon so mas magana sa solids.
