alternative to baby wipes / wet ones
« on: March 24, 2012, 07:15:15 am »

i've read from an article somewhere that baby wipes like disposable diapers aren't environment friendly. aside from baby wipes what else do you use to clean baby's poo and how do you use it? thanks.

^When my daughter was a newborn, cotton and water. Pag nasa labas kame, baby wipes. I started washing her sa faucet at 4 months.

While you have a point that baby wipes are not environment friendly, they're quite convenient and extremely helpful especially pag nasa labas. However, you can lessen the use perhaps. What we do is we bring a water spritzer with us whenever we go out and we use a couple of baby wipes lang plus the water spritzer.

@ twelvth_goddess

same tayo sis, nung new born pa si baby cotton and water lang ang ginagamet ko pang punas kay baby..nung months na sya is yong cotton small towels na sya, mabibili mo sa dept. store pili ka lang ng cotton para hindi magkarashes si baby, beside hindi mo naman yon hard punas, wipe lang ng popo or after magchange ng diapers. or yong lampin na ghost ang name, super soft sya pag binasa mo kaya ok lang din. yon ang pang bahay, if sa labas naman kami or on travel  wet wipes talaga ang handy, kasi after mo magchange ng nappies lagay lang naman sa loob ng diaper at tapon. tapos na ang usapan. mahirap kasi naman dala ka ng mga cloth while on travel, maglalaba ka pa pagdating mo sa room or sa cr? tapos manggamoy ka? nakaka hiya naman sa mga kasama mo.

^Correct sis. Plus, not all washrooms would allow din na mag-wash ka ng bum ng baby sa sink. Kadiri pati yon noh mas unhygienic pa kaya yon.

yes sis, mahirap din i.handle pag nagwash ka ng popo ng baby sa sink ng sa labas like malls etc. mahirap kasi medyo malikot na si baby mo baka mis handle mo sya, ma untog pa or somewhat. hehe kaya yon talaga ang mas handy ang baby wipes, beside hindi ka naman always on travel or labas kaya mas nakakasave ka din pag bahay lang at cotton cloths na. Hindi naman din mura ang baby wipes.

sis matanogn ko lang, mahilig ka ba mag powder kay baby mo before? ako kasi hindi ako nagpopowder kay baby before kasi madali syang magsneeze. yong cloth lang binabasa ko tas nilalagyan ko ng smudge na yong pampaligu niya para wipe sa butt, sa liig or other parts niya before she sleeps or freshen up lang kasi maiinit. mas madali syang nakakatulog kung ganun

^No sis, I only started putting powder nung nag-1 na sya kase mas pawisin na since she walks na. But when she was a newborn, pag mainit, naglalagay ako konti. I'd clap the powder on my hands muna tapos yung matira yun lang ilalagay ko. They say nga na hinde daw advisable ang powder especially with newborns since it can trigger asthma.

There was a time nung baby pa yung panganay ko, nasa tipid mode kami. She's a bit grown na but still in diapers. I searched the internet on how to make your own baby wipes using kitchen paper towels. It worked for me. Here's one link:

Before baby wipes din, but now i use cotton and lukewarm water with a small amount of alcohol to clean my baby's poop. Mas matipid and mas safe in my opinion since girl din anak ko. :)
